Clutch that's looking really damn good. Is it worth sanding/buffing if you sprayed with 2k paint like me? I don't have a clearcoat.

Sanding/buffing/polishing a single stage paint you sprayed is exactly the same as how people sand/buff/polish their rolled on paint jobs that are so popular these days. However, if it's metallic (which yours isn't, but for sake of argument), don't. You'll destroy the metallic as you sand. Heck, I don't even know if single stage metallics are a thing, lol. But if they are. Never color sand metallic basecoat, either, for the exact same reason. Another this is that yours is white. A mirror finish perfectly polished white car will look great, BUT someone actually has to be looking, because white's reflections are so muted (and yellow, and bright red to some extent, and bright orange.. bright colors). The darker the color the more intense and 'mirror like' the finish. It may not be worth the time to sand and buff your white if it's already looking 'pretty darn good'.

I feel crazy for saying this but before I zoomed in on the picture and saw the engine I was absolutely convinced that was a Chrysler Concorde. Does anyone else besides me see that?

But the bigger downer going forward is that in the US, there is not yet even a replacement, much less improvement, for the good traits of old cars. CAFE killed power-to-weight ratio, NHTSA killed visibility, and the chicken tax killed affordable small trucks. Every day we stray further from god's grace

They got together with their respective governments where c4c is a thing do basically say; "GOT A SHIT CAR OR JUST WANT ONE GONE?!?! But in reality it probably sounds like a car salesman spewing legal jargon.
Innnteresting. Imgur is a new thing! I went from wetsanding to buffing today. Once again, my body is destroyed, lol. I spend something like 6 hours buffing and polishing so far.. So we start with cutting compound on a cutting pad to get shine back.. I used the most abrasive compound they had so it would work quicker. Still takes a lot of effort. Basically the goal is to remove all the scratch marks from the wetsanding and leave only marks from buffing (which are "swirl marks" when seen in the sun). You keep going until there is zero haze left in the panel, and also zero scratch marks (or attempt to, anyways). You buff, wipe off, inspect, buff again, etc. The trunk here is part-way through, you can see it's not glossy yet Once you think she's good, you move on to polishing. I used a basic polishing compound on a polishing pad, which is less abrasive. This process is to remove the swirl marks that would otherwise look like crap in the sun. You finish this.. wipe up.. and generally find more areas that need buffing.. so back to the buffing pad we go. On the trunk here you can see a couple hazy spots, that's areas that need more buffing. Eventually the process ends, or you say "good enough", and you are left a nice finish that, when done properly, doesn't reflect any little scratches when you view lights above it. Those are the telltale... if you see scratches reflected in the lights, you have more buffing to do. Here's the hood when I called it a day. Once that's all done you move on to a very, very fine "finishing" glaze which is sort of like wax.. but it doesn't "seal" stuff into the paint, which means the fresh paint can continue to flash off like it's supposed to. After a month or so you can apply wax to the paint.
that's sexy as hell. I've always wanted to do something similar with flames on an old american car like that with a veeeeeeeeeeery slightly pearly paint for the flames. The idea being it's so subtle it only comes out under very bright direct sunlight, and looks normal under all other lighting conditions. Also the XJ is still running lean. Literally the only EFI/fuel component i've yet to replace is the injectors and throttle position sensor, so i guess it's time to start pulling the injectors. I'll probably drain the tanks and see what horrors lurk in there. [T]https://puu.sh/wEuK5/6be6a43a82.JPG[/T] Got it showroom clean though. So it looks real good going 30mph

What would you guys recommend for playing music from a phone when your car has no bluetooth or aux cable capability? FM transmitter? Cassette Adapter? Any other possible options?
What would you guys recommend for playing music from a phone when your car has no bluetooth or aux cable capability? FM transmitter? Cassette Adapter? Any other possible options?
What does your car currently have?
What does your car currently have?
jack shit radio, cd, and cassette. I could just put music on the cds but I'd prefer just using my phone.
jack shit radio, cd, and cassette. I could just put music on the cds but I'd prefer just using my phone.
I would get an cassette aux adapter as you already have an cassete deck thing
Cassette adapters typically work best, but I've had some good FM transmitters, too. Just get the cheap ones, honestly. They tend to survive the best. I had used one for my old work truck for years before I got 'upgraded' to my new van.
I've got an FM modulator myself (thanks to fp). I've tried FM transmitters before and those never really worked well
jack shit radio, cd, and cassette. I could just put music on the cds but I'd prefer just using my phone.
Cassette is the best choice in that situation. Just make sure the heads on the tape deck are clean. Keep noise and disortion way down. Also, watch the volume on the source device. If it's too much, it will start casuing disortion, and some headunits will clip harder than others (AC Delco comes to mind).

Thoughts on converting my diesel to a dually? The truck was ordered as a '3/4 and a 1/2' - a 3/4 ton with HD suspension package. It has extra leafs front and rear, quad shocks in the front, the largest brakes available, a SF14 bolt rear, D44 front (1 tons had a D60). I need a new bed because rust and dents, it costs the same for both styles. Heres how it looks now; [t]http://i.imgur.com/cHcB2EY.jpg[/T] And here is almost how it would look after the conversion; [T]http://i.imgur.com/jpd7cfo.jpg[/t]
