Fuck theres loads of wireless FM transmitters on ebay but they all look dodgy as fuck :v:
And a fucking tvr. Who in the fuck had these rare ass cars that literally just threw them away?????
Also, I drilled out the baffle ends on my Virago, and it did nothing. In fact, I think it made the exhaust quieter....
That's a 250cc right? I'd be shocked if there was a way to make that louder. My buddy has one and it's so quiet you can't even hear it 5 feet away
Thoughts on converting my diesel to a dually?
The truck was ordered as a '3/4 and a 1/2' - a 3/4 ton with HD suspension package. It has extra leafs front and rear, quad shocks in the front, the largest brakes available, a SF14 bolt rear, D44 front (1 tons had a D60).
I need a new bed because rust and dents, it costs the same for both styles.
Now I'm not a truck guy at all so i'll just throw out an unqualified opinion, but at least aesthetically speaking there is a perceived "balance" between front and rear with the single rear tire.
The front end of a dually just looks relatively kinda wimpy.

I was thinking of staying with my 265/75/16 tires in front, and running 235/85/16 tires in the rear.
I could also go up to 285/75/16 and 255/85/16's
The 265/285's are 1" wider than the others, though nearly identical diameters.
It's not 'too' much more complicated, since this truck came equipped with most of the equipment already.
This is a 265 vs 235;
[T]http://i.imgur.com/oL8okjw.jpg[/t]
235's usually are not that tall, though it shows the width difference good.

even if it's not too much more complicated, you'd then just be running two different tire sizes and two extra tires just for increased load capacity that may or may not be used
to me it just sounds like extra effort for minimal gain unless you have to haul around a big trailer a lot.
Then again now that i say that i just realized this is probably one of those longstanding debates within truck people.
As soon as I stepped outside and got all my painting stuff in order, boom. Thunder.
Screw you Florida
Single cab duallies look sweet. I say go for it.
duallies are rad do it
It's July 8th, so I decided to swap out the snow tires. Also washed it and took some fresh photos to put in the for sale ad.

If I order a pre-primed bumper, do I need to sand it before spraying with paint or do I just degrease it?
i've bought a few cassette adapters but i haven't found one that's been actually good at producing non-shit sound when the radio sounds fantastic
the current RCA one i'm using sounds okay but it's muddled af
which one do you recommend, i'm almost to the point where i would rather just pull the HU out of my RSX and solder in an aux jack
Back when I had a tape deck, I used a Sony one that came with a Discman. It sounded decent, but the OEM headunit on a Ford Escort really wasn't anything special. As far as anything sold today, no idea. I think my father had a Durabrand one that wasn't that bad, but once again, 7 years ago.
Have you ever put in a regular old cassette? If it doesn't sound much different, that may be just how the cassette deck sounds. Once CD's started taking over, good quality tape decks started to become fewer and far between.

Just rub it with a scotch brite pad

2 jobs over the last 2 days and both of them rained. 2 front McPherson struts on day one and today was a lift gate handle and a radiator for a neon that was the wrong one. Trans cooler fitting were wrong.
I could swear it another El Nino or El Nina.
Alright, so this rust-oleum white paint job is going pretty nice, but quick question:
When I get around to painting door jambs and other really complex corners, can I just use Rust-Oleum white gloss spray paint for those areas? Will it interact oddly with my normal mineral spirits + rustoleum white mixture since one is an aerosol or will they be fine together?
It sounds kind of like a stupid question as I ask it but if there's a potential paint compatibility problem that exists, I sure as hell don't want to run into it.
Get a nice 1" angle sable brush. Purdy makes a good one.
Currently got my sights on possibly a Maxima, an IS300, LS400, or SC300/400. Snow really isn't a problem for me anymore, since my work lets us work from home on our laptops if the weather's bad.
If you are considering a Maxima, anything after 2004 is trash.
If you are considering a Maxima, anything after 2004 is trash.
5th gen facelift with the 3.5 is the best maxima, but the older 3.0L models are good too. Also lots cheaper to fix than a lexus. Watch out for janky cam and crank position sensors, and don't use anything but OEM spark plugs. Fancy shit makes them run like shit.
How good are they for road trips? My Legacy literally nearly had me out of commission from back pain for a good day after a trip to Columbus because its seats are probably the worst thing ever conceived.
I'm 6'4" and fit just fine in it, I have the cloth seats which i prefer over leather/vinyl anyways, no complaints about them.
My shocks are shit even, and imo not worth replacing unless they fail cause the car has 183k on it and one of the previous owners was not very good to it.
edit: it's been a great winter car too, I have Bridgestone Blizzaks that i splurged on a couple years ago and barring extreme ice storm bullshit, no traction problems in winter anymore. I drove on all-seasons winter 2014 and that wasn't fun.
We have a 96 Maxima with the v6. Basic options other than that. But it has some weird transmission issues going from 3rd to 4th. Something to do with a sensor that handles shift pressure or something. But its a harsh shift. Like you just hit a pothole hard. Apparently several of them developed this issue and im trying to figure it out. Something to watch out for. We got the car for free with 215,000 miles on it. Im debating weather to fix it or let it go and just run it. The problem is finding what to fix. A lateral v6 is a pain in the ass. Cant even take a valve cover off without disassembling half the damn motor.
dad and I decided the most fitting thing to do to that old morrie is chop the fuckin roof off and drop it 4 inches :v:
[t]https://puu.sh/wFeNY.jpg[/t]
one last look before disassembly

brace tacked in place

cutting one inch out from the window rubber, so the entire window bends down into the place. this gives the chop a nice swoop along the back edge after

it's off!

sitting roughly in place, that's where we're at so far. next up is to weld back doors into place, find some coupe doors to replace the front, and make it all flush and pillarless! we're thinking about maybe putting together a 350 from a barebones block but we might end up looking for a 253 holden v8 or something, depending on what ends up being cheaper.
god I wish I could have got to do this back in the good old days, I'd love to rod up a model a or model t like my grandad did and still does :v:

If you want a road trip car go with the LS400. It'll be wayyyy more in its element.
May be actually just saying screw it for repairs on the Legacy and finally selling the thing come here in the next few weeks. Depends what kind of loans I can get from one of the credit unions around here. Found a guy on Craigslist that used to work at a dealership and flips cars privately as sort of a part-time fun job and he's willing to look around for me, so we'll see what happens.
Gunning to get a nice touring or luxury type sedan or coupe since we tend to do long road trips occasionally and I need something that's going to be relatively low maintenance compared to this hellscape my Subaru has been. That, and something with at least six cylinders, so I can stop lugging up a hill in 4th gear at 50 MPH. Currently got my sights on possibly a Maxima, IS300, LS400, or SC300/400. Snow really isn't a problem for me anymore, since my work lets us work from home on our laptops if the weather's bad.
Road trip car? Ford Panther platform. Do it.

I personally would't do it. You not gaining anything other then 2 extra tires on the ground.
Just get a suburban and do a dually swap and be more unique.

It beats rusting away in a corner somewhere.
I too enjoy ruining rare cars.
it's a 500 dollar fucking morris minor, I've seen hundreds of these still running in registered in nz. not even slowlites are rare in nz. the subframe is rusted and the nz goverment wouldn't even allow this vehicle to run on the road anymore. the sidevalve engine is entirely seized and parts aren't commonplace anymore. my vauxhall victor is rarer and we're still putting a toyota engine in it :v: perhaps you'd also like to complain about my dads 27 model t with a sbc chev in it? what about my dads mk3 zephyr that's factory including gaskets except for the paintjob it desperately needed? or the 73 hq premier with the 383 in it because it's not original? we've got tonnes of "rare" and actually expensive cars, but none of them are going anywhere and would just be rusting to shit if we didn't pick them up.
God dammit, i wish could do Le Mons some day.

Well, I wetsanded the whole car today. First time I've ever done it to an entire vehicle.
My arm is about to fall off.
