Is there any cars that have oil filters placed more inconveniently than on my Honda Civic?
It's on the back of the engine, above the front axle and exhaust, and sandwiched between the alternator and engine block, and there's no way I've found to remove it without coating the entire underside of the engine in used oil :hammered:
I assure you that Honda oil filter placement is definitely on the side of the best. Toyota Pickup V6's make you want to break your arm just to twist on the filter due to having to bend the bone of your arm around the steering stops and frame. You also don't have to remove skid plates and other parts before removing the filter and exhaust parts aren't even directly in the way the only place you can put your hands and arms.
B and D series oil filters are simple, just learn how to place your body and arm so it runs down the engine instead of your arm. You don't have to fight to get your arm in there or anything, it just inconveniently pukes down the back of the engine. All you really have to do is wipe down the back of the engine with a rag and place a drain pan under it.
Are you using spray/rattle cans? If I remember correctly those contain additional aerosol chemicals to make it spray easier. These also will play less nice interacting with other paint chemicals. Perhaps some gallons of paint and a decent motorized spray gun (what are those called again?)
I figured part of it out. The primer I was using doesn't spray right for the first few seconds, no matter how well you mix it up and it does weird things.
I'll wait a good 48 hours, sand the imperfections down, and try again. It's about the only thing I can do.
If an oil filter isn't on the top of the engine and facing upward, and/or I can't shove the oil extractor tube down the dipstick tube, I'm not interested in owning the car.
if the oil filter isn't attached to a chevy v8 I'm not interested in owning the car

I saw 10+ Mercedes 300d/td/Turbo's while out West this past week while I haven't seen a single one in Ohio is years.
Fuck you rust.

Probably could have gone ever faster without having to tow his massive balls.
Tried to help my friend with her Chevy Equinox. You have to have a stupid tool to take off the plastic cap which holds the "oil filter" on top of the engine. What the hell.

What makes it extra great is the intake manifold almost covers it completely, hence the special tool to take it out. A normal socket, wrench, or normal tool will not fit.
My oil filter setup is just like this, intake manifold being in the way included, and a 1-1/4 inch wrench fits perfectly and removes the filter cap with little trouble.
My 72 chevy has one of those oil filters that uses a roll of toilet paper as the filter element
I got an amsoil dual bypass oil filter kit and it just moves my oil filters down by the frame rail. So on the plus of making my black death diesel oil into a nice gold, it also lets me go 20k between oil changes and places it in a spot where I never get coated in black death
20k!?!?!
How much oil capacity and what which brand of oil!?
I know new Ford's if you get your oil changed threw them it's a 10k mile interval

There are oil filter relocation kits that are pretty much universal and can let you add a second filter.
Alot of them as far as I know are mostly for home built race cars where a quick and clean filter change are a must. I considered getting one but can't decide on a good place to put one. I mostly wanted one for the oil cooler features they sometimes have. You need more oil in the system but you can get insane miles out of oil with them and with newer synthetic oils and that supposed 1 year change oil (which I think is the equivalent of fish oil) you could go practically forever on one change, or at least double of whats recommended.
My ideal car would have 5 different oil pans with 5 separate oil filters that you can go between at the flick of a switch

Not my car, just one I filled with AC-gas at work, but the same body as mine though.
Miata's have a bit of a tricky spot for an oil filter. Certainty doesn't take the title of WORST SPOT EVER, but it does make you feel it is easiest to remove the passenger side wheel and go in through the wheelwell. Over the top never felt comfortable to me.

Remember, he's Canadian. He must mean 20k KM, which is roughly 12k Miles.
Might finally sell my supra today
It's going to a good home. :*(

Thanks to my tiny frame, the Miata oil filter is stupid easy for me. Reach through top and off it comes, no fuss.

I'd just do a dry sump
I finally got a tach to work on my Virago but it only reads half the actual rpm (I assume), so my solution?
[T]http://i.imgur.com/XtdZg2b.jpg[/t]
But really though, how do I get it to read the proper rpm? It's one of those damn advance Auto gauges that make you select between 8, 6, and 4 cylinders. I didn't think it would matter, since this is a dual fire system with a wasted spark anyway, but apparently it does.
take the glass off, get a white paint pen, and change the numbers on the dial

The people who bought it have 5-6 supras and the lady who showed up with the money has an 84 she's currently restoring. I think it went to the right place.
You gotta put that battery in a venter box and put a killswitch on the back if your gonna race.

Are we talking about the green side of a scotchbrite kitchen sponge or one of the other colors?

The green.

Nah, just cruise back and forth to work and stuff, a commuter car. Not into racing really.
I'd probably need to mount the fuel cell better too :v:
