Ended up buying the 90A welder.
Was ~$85 after employee discount.
In August, we have a parking lot sale that knocks it down to $84.99. I'll price match it and get my discount on top, should get the welder for ~$70.
For those that haven't been to Harbor Freight in a while, there's a massive product rollout of 'premium' products this year. Much better than anything we have ever carried.
We got to demo some of the power tools, they make our old ones feel like tinker toys. The new ones are all lithium, much heavier duty, the reviews so far are pretty good.
Welding is being overhauled with premium products, too. The wire and stick is so new that i see no reviews anywhere, though I can say that I tried out the new gloves and they are incredible compared to our old ones.

is that bauer line one of the "premium" products? I bought one of the rotary hammers and it was a supreme degree of shit so I returned it and went to the home depot for a makita. advertised same amps and nearly the same bpm but the makita hit way harder. the bauer half the time would just spit out the steel.

I still feel like the only tools worth buying at harbor freight are the more bulletproof air tools like scalers and such and micro drills. not a bad place to get tool steel blanks either. the grinders are good if you're the type who keeps a bunch of grinders loaded with different disks, like I have 3 harbor freight grinders with the less dangerous attachments, and a makita for zip disks
other than that the e clip assortment and the o ring assortment is handy to have around
[editline]18th July 2017[/editline]
oh and I've got a 7 inch grinder from there that I keep a diamond cup on for whenever I'm doing concrete. got no torque to it but if you get a running start it's got the rpm to give me a nice smooth finish
Merc might go tonight. Someone's coming to look at it in an hour or so.
What do you guys think of this front bumper for the racecar?
It's from the later areo package designed for the e36 supertourings in 1995.

[editline]18th July 2017[/editline]
I'm also having a composite specialist make custom fibreglass fenders like in this photo. So I can tuck big ass 18inch rims without getting a gtr kit or fender flares.
Unfortunately as supertouring parts are already rare as fuck, there's only a single year of supertouring coupe's. The rest were sedans. So originals for a coupe are downright impossible to find. (And sedans are no fit at all)

Or not. They never came...
I ran into an issue that Rust-Oleum paint job posts don't really seem to mention. If you don't do all your spraying in one coat, you're going to get paint wrinkles in random places on any coat after that one. I've now seen post after post on various hobby websites saying that any coat after the first is going to be shit in various places for no apparent reason, even way after the 48 hour full cure time.
I gotta ask, what the hell does it mean when engine oil is formulated for BMWs? I was buying oil for my Dodge, and was just looking for 5w-30 synthetic, picked up what had those two things on it cause idgaf about all the other tagline nonsense is. Only after I put it in my car did I notice it was SPECIFICALLY FORMULATED FOR BMW AND MERCEDES BENZ ENGINES

If it's got the correct amount of additives and also of a good enough quality.
IF it is officially "blessed" by BMW and Mercedes.
The door sills are in pretty terrible shape so I got some welding to do and there's a vibration that occurs when you let go of the throttle, but only when going over 70 kph. He driven with that wobble for two years without figuring it out :v:
If it only vibrates when you let off the throttle i'd check the angle of the rear driveshaft.

A lot of/most manufacturers have their own standard for oils, I guess it means that the oil meets or surpasses the requirements for BMW and Merc's standards.
If it only vibrates when you let off the throttle i'd check the angle of the rear driveshaft.
I checked the rear driveshaft and it's got quite a bit of play in the part where they're joined together in the splines.
It's got some transfer case kit to reduce the angle of the shaft so that shouldn't be the problem. The play in the shaft is definitely a problem
Can someone explain the me the bad rap Ford seems to have? I recently bought a Ford 2014 STX, Its a great truck, I love driving it, but 50% of the responses I get are "Too bad its a Ford" or "Its okay for a Ford I guess". I know you have these people for all different types of Brands but good lord I hear it all the time.
The truck I had before this one was a 2005 Ford XL and it went well over 220,000 miles with no Major problems. Sure it had the wear and tear you would expect but I can count on one hand how many times it broke down on me.

Easy answer: "CHEVY RUNS DEEP". With 3 different major truck brands, you're basically a 2 in 3 chance the person you're talking to will bee a fanboy of a different brand, and thus obliged to hate your truck. Also since Fords sell more, and are thus more popular, that adds even more reason for Johnny Beerbelly to hate them.
Fwiw I've always been a Ford guy, but I respect other brands.

Unintelligent people spew that shit
I've owned a chevy, a dodge, a ford, a Nissan, a Toyota and a Honda. Cars are reliable if they're maintained.

From what I've experienced, Fords tend to be more difficult and cramped in the engine bay compared to similar GM cars and trucks. They also have really long bolts for no reason.

Fanboys for everything. Ford has really never made a unanimously bad truck AFAIK. Some more quirky than others (5.4L Triton manifold leaks) but not outright bad.
Cars can be hit or miss, but that's really the case for any manufacturer. If it wasnt for the dual clutches in the Focuses, I think they are doing pretty damn good on all their cars right now quality wise.

Figured out how to fix this! These wrinkles only seem to form within the first two minutes if they're going to at all. By following my spray paint with an immediate blast from my hair dryer, it will let the solvents evaporate before they do more crazy shit.
My front bumper and front fenders have been repainted like this and both coats went on nicely

Well it's pennzoil, so it's more than likely got the blessing by BMW. It's the shit I normally throw in my cars I've just never seen the BMW blessing before.

GM was good up until about a year before they shut down a bunch of their departments. Now most of their new stuff is shit tier and ugly as sin not including the Corvette or Camero, which are about the only 2 cars they seem to give even half a fuck about anymore.
Ford makes really hard to damage truck bodies but tend to get crazy with wire management and general electrical stuff, such as a single bad ground wire in the engine bay can outright stop the whole truck from doing anything at all. Then there is solenoid fuckery, the 4.6 heater core line that rots at the firewall side of the manifold and pretty much kills cylinder 4 and sometimes 3 from the coolant leaks. ANY issue with running lights (on any of their vehicles).
Ford does make a damn good engine and I won't try and say they don't, but they lack sometimes really bad on quality and parts positioning which I believe is extremely important.
Old chevys are literally bullet proof though
The best generation of chey trucks is the 88-96 body style. 97-06 is okay, but have tranny issues. 07-now you just don't touch. Older chevy trucks are amazing too, but they're classics and aren't around as much as the years I listed.
Honestly, thinking about it, this goes for almost all trucks.

This is called solvent cracking and is a very common issue with spray paints. Basically if you spray too late after your last coat the solvents from the last layer will interact with your current layer and cause the cracks to form.
Your hair dryer method is one solution, but another is to simply make sure to get the next coat on within thirty minutes or so. This should be plenty of time for it to dry and be sanded down but not long enough to cause solvent cracking. It's been a while since I've done any painting but I ran into this issue and had to do some research into what was happening. At the time I was doing game controllers, but the same principle should apply to fenders.
I poke fun at ford because it's a meme but for the most part everyone builds a decent vehicle these days, the odds of you running into a catastrophic/unforgivable issue with any of the big 3 are very low. Fords just tend to be a little harder to work on yourself than the rest of the big automakers.

I really like the body styles of the 90's era trucks from the big 3. Everytime I see one from those years, I just get tons of nostalgia. Last time a truck was a truck, nothing more to it.
