Clean! This poor thing needs a few hours with a can of touch-up. Anyone got any recommendations?
A diesel Peugeot is such a miserable sight
To be honest, maybe just every Peugeot except for the 106 and 107 are. When a mechanic tells you to get a jerrycan of gas and douse it over your car after attempting to repair the speedometer should say quite a lot. We still haven't got around to fix the passenger window and the speedo sensor, turns out there's something fucked with the wiring of the passenger window but we have no idea where to look. For some reason instead of getting 0v and 12v on two different wires, the motor gets 12v on both wires when you try to open the window.
honestly what kind of person would buy one?
Someone who intentionally wants an awful car?
Cause there are way cheaper way better choices
And it's not even a generic car for someone who gives no shits about cars.

What needs to be touched up? Unless there's any truly deep scratches or large areas of peeling clearcoat, a paint pen and wetsanding followed by a clay bar, polish, wax and seal is all you'll need.

If you look at the front bumper (and the front of the car in general) there's some significant sections with massive paint chips. All those white specks on the front are missing paint.

I wouldn't go full rattle can on those (or honestly even attempt to fix them at all since they're inevitable), but a paint pen is more than adequate. After application, letting it dry then wetsanding before polishing should make them disappear. I only advise against rattle canning due to size, but also due to color matching. You'd have a very hard time color matching since the rattle can would cover such a large area.

I thought touch-up was a paint pen. Definitely not planning on spray painting anything at all. I can't stand overspray and I don't want to mask everything.
Will a paint pen also help me with my poop-induced clear coat damage?

Are we talking cloudy, cracking clear coat? Cause if so, you'll need to sand and re-apply clearcoat, but iirc that's only a temporary fix. If it's just faded a polish will fix it.

Not cracking or anything, just really faded where the bird poops was.
Sent the driveshaft to get lenght...ened(?), changed all the speakers, ran new speaker cables from both front doors, and started the rust hell :v:

Fix'd.
Everything past the *05 series is garbage, and the Top Gear episode on Peugeot's and Peugeot owners is only a tiny bit exaggerated unlike their other mockeries.
Source: I used to work on those shitbuckes for just under a year.
I heard from that fellow mechanic that only the 106 and 107 are decent cars that rarely break down. Then again there's nothing to the latter as it's a 3 cylinder engine. Against his recommendations I'm considering a VW Golf 2, though apparently it breaks down more often. I just hope not too often as I doubt I can afford to keep up, luckily I'm not afraid to dive into the engine bay if something fucks up.

The 107 is mostly a Toyota where it counts, since it's a joint adventure between PSA (Citroën and Peugeot) and Toyota, where Toyota provided the engine and transmission.
Try and compare the 107 with Citroën C1's and Toyota Aygo's from that era.
And VW Golf2's are less reliable due to sheer old age and previous owners neglecting them badly, but back when they were relatively new they were among the most reliable.
Also rust.

A good polish will clear that up in no time.

I miss delivering pizzas fulltime. And I need a better camera.
On the way home today an exceptionally clean Mistubishi 3000GT pulled up next to me in traffic. The guy and I were chatting and he said he bought the car new in 93, and it's got just over 80k on it now.
Unrelated, I picked up some snow tires yesterday afternoon. A truck would've been handy, but oh well...

After years of testing and mixing and matching detailing products, I'd recommend a good wash with pretty much any car wash fluid. Be diligent and use two buckets, one for fresh water and one to wring with. Follow up with a quality clay bar (I'm a Meguiar's fanboy) and be gentle, use plenty of quick detail as lubricant. Once that's done, use either an orbital buffer or be a beast and by hand, apply a healthy dollop of polish. Light yet firm pressure with an applicator pad in circular motions. Buff when dry with microfiber cloths.
Finish the whole spiel off with the wax of your choice and she'll be looking brand new. My polish/wax combo of choice (in this order):

I picked up some 5mm spacers for my GTI at Waterfest last week. Will I need new bolts for them or will the stock ones still have enough threading to be safe? Guy at the booth (034 I believe) told me stock bolts fit fine but I'm not sure. Opinions?
5mm you should be fine with stock lugs and lugnuts.
Went to my dads workshop today.
Parked on the side of the entrance infront of some parked customers cars which is where I usually park and there are usually never any problems, and I leave enough room for cars to be able to enter and exit.

Today a customer the corner of my car reversing out of the workshop.
in a mini cooper
So much space for this guy to get out with his piece of shit but because he reversed at what seemed like full speed without looking at his mirrors at all he banged right into it.
Made a big dent, fucked up the indicator light, and the dent caused the window washer fluid to start leaking.
luckily tho because my dads workshop used to specialize in SAABs he had plenty of spare lights and fixed everything up without having to spend any money.
I just got so fucking pissed off because how do you fuck up that hard

It's dark. You can't see your car in that situation man.

This is taking so long :v:
Same shit on the other side.
[editline]25th July 2017[/editline]
Driveshaft is also 8.5 cm longer, so now there's no vibration anymore :')
Idk if it is appropriate or not to ask questions like this here, but I can't think of any other ways yet to troubleshoot my problem.
My driver's side headlamp runs at half brightness, and its high-beam doesn't seem to work either. To boot, the high-beam indicator doesn't turn on despite the passenger side lamp working fine all together.
The fuses look fine, and the ground from the lamp to the frame isn't broken. The previous owner made a mess of the wires beneath the dash, but I can't even identify what relay is for the left headlamp since the light remains powered with all of them removed. Also the bulb is brand new as well.
I have no clue where to go from here. Working with small scale DC electronics isn't too difficult, but there's a shitload of wires here, half of them going to dead ends (no power windows, locks, mirrors, etc)
I got a Chevy Tracker, '01

100% guarantee your problem lies in that mess somewhere.

First step would be eliminating the dead ends and untangling the mess.
Optional but highly recommended is probing each cable to where is goes and what part of the circuit it's responsible for and labeling it.

I can't seem to find a wiring diagram for the relays. The owners manual just mentions the 2 fuse boxes.
Other resources online make mention of there being headlight relays under the drivers or passenger side of the dash, though the only thing I can find is a block of 4 stuck together.
When I detach any and all of the relays, the lamps still 'function', so I'm uncertain if these relays even take part in the circuit.

That's really aggravating. I had a saab (2003 9-3 Arc 2.0T) and I fucking loved it. Drove comparably to my mom's 2010 Mercedes c300. Couldn't handle it breaking literally every month though, especially with how difficult it was to find a mechanic who would even touch the thing (and my mom is a used car dealer, so she has a lot of contacts).
Post Saab pics pls
I don't like how highways have 5 lane roads but a max speed of 100km/h while 2 lane roads have a max speed of of 120 or even 130km/h
