I don't wanna be that guy in the stanced German car that I got stuck behind on Watkins Glen in April. He was doing like 30 MPH the whole damn time and some of us broke the rules of opening day and passed his slow ass. He was so slow that he lost the pace car after the 2nd turn of the first lap during 3 paced laps.
I'm amazed that whoever was overseeing the event didn't black flag him immediately

Is that like a merc club? My buddy just joined one and I rode along with him on a couple laps at PIR in his C63 amg, same day I drove the Jag F type.

No, it was opening weekend at Watkins Glen. You pay $25 and drive around the track for 3 paced laps, no passing allowed, tbh it's pretty lame unless if its the first time you're seeing a race track.
The autocross at Lime Rock Park though......now you're talking fun
Mercedes Benz Club of America does do some events like that though if I remember correctly.
Saw this cool Fiero today on the way home!

SCCA does something similar with their Tracknight in America events. $35 gets you one 20min session, but you must be a flagger for the rest of the day. I think you technically need a SCCA membership too. But as far as pace laps, they seemed to allow people to drive or ride along in those for free. It doesn't make much sense to show up 2-3hrs before hand to sign the waiver JUST to do the pace laps, but if someone is inclined they can. They are such cheap events anyway, between $125-$150, pending if you use an easy-to-find-discount-code. Downside is you get zero in-car instruction. They set up cones for the apexes and shit, but you're mostly on your own.
Also damn, did you really go from Watkins Glen to Lime Rock in the same weekend? I was just talking with a guy from MA, said it drove the Glen recently, it was like a 6-8hr drive from where he was. Said he stayed for a 2 day event. Makes some sense when you drive that far.
I'm on the verge of getting in to a COMSCC Time Trial event a Palmer next weekend. At first I saw it was "sold out", but when a FB friend told me to email them, it sounded like they could still register me. Still waiting on the official confirmation, but everything so far sounds like I'll get in by the skin of my chin.

No, I did not do those two in the same weekend. I went to Watkins Glen in April, and Lime Rock in June for eEuroFest 2017. Lime Rock was fun but I murdered my tires on the autocross track (chunks of tread are missing).
If you wanted to do both in a weekend, you theoretically could, but you would want to kill yourself afterwards because they're 7 hours apart.
I wish I knew about the event in Palmer, but right now my car can't take too much abuse anyway. I found out my transmission mounting flange is sheared, so to fix it I have to make a slipper to go over what remains of the aluminum flange on the tail housing of the trans so everything stays in place.
In other news, I'm junking my 86 S-Class because its absolutely terrible to work on, which will give me some cash to throw down on some rubber for those 17" OZ Operas I bought (once I fix that transmission mount issue on the 190E).
Rooster comb is seated good and has the 4 spool switch valve on the end of it? Detent ball is in as well so it "clicks" through the gears?
Little drag racer trick, put John Deere Hygard fluid in it for a little extra stall. It also has a higher burnoff point compared to most high end magic ATF's
The comb is down good, and moves through its detents. The ball for locking the detents is in place. The valve functions when it moves too so its all good. The two bathtubs that are next to eachother, one has a large ball, one has a regular size ball. They put none in the regular tub, and put the small and large ball in the large tub. Thats all i found wrong when i took it apart.

I mean, we broke 120 on the straights with a chevy 350 swapped 63 190 sl in front of us. :v:
[Sp] the guy bought it like that, it was originally a 4cyl car and the swap was done back in the 60s apparently[/sp]

Are dash cam videos OK here? If so, this happened to me a few days ago (ignore the clock, dashcam doesn't have a clock battery):

@00:13 some smoke came out from under the right side of the car and apparently it died. Sounded horrible on it's trip over to the shoulder. A guy from here told me it probably blew the turbo given that whatever it is happens to have one and because people don't know shit about oil maintenance with turbo cars.
I bet he felt like a proper knob when his car shit itself.

I was going to stop to check in but given that the road's well travelled, in cell service, and less than a mile and a half from Albany (NY), and MOST IMPORTANTLY that he would have taken my arms off I decided not to.
But yeah, he was tailgating me super hard to the point where you literally couldn't see anything but his hood in the rear view mirror despite me doing like 5 over to try and make him happy so he deserved it.

Its a Ford Fusion with the 2.0L Ecoboost. The turbo is both water and oil cooled, though they are designed to be low maintenance. Surprised to see one blow, they are usually pretty reliable. I was expecting it to be the 1.6L, as those had cooling system problems (and usually engine fires). I guess no turbo to blow is one upside to the 2.5L Duratec. :v:
That said, he may have modified it.
A co worker blew his 2.0 ecoboost on a 2016 Aston Martin look alike.
On one hand the failures are rare but the early ecoboosts did have issues with the turbos.
that's not bad for electric, but gas is the way to go. mine's doing 70 miles per hour
Fucking ECU is playing games with me.
I was driving through Idaho and my CHECK ENGINE light comes on just long enough for me to say "oh, for fucks sake, what do you wa-" then the light turns off again.
Nah, it was the fucking Lambda sensor disconnecting and reconnecting itself again. I fucking gotta replace this solderless splice kit that came with the replacement sensor.

Yeah, it was so bad the other day I tried riding with my visor up and I couldn't because the smoke and ash was destroying my eyes.
Having just driven north/south and east/west through Washington state last week I know the pain.
At least you didn't have to endure driving in a black car with the roof buttoned up and no air conditioner. Fucks sake the I90 was B R U T A L on thursday.
New shifter is done :v:
