Had some bedliner left over after doing the boat floor so I did the in and out of my tailgate and the bed rails.

One of my favorite things about driving a $300 F350...its runs like a tank and I don't feel bad about treating it like one.

shit I've actually got money in my truck and I still don't feel bad about treating it like a tank
between offroading damage, normal wear and tear, and accelerated wear and tear from having an extra 150-ish horses over stock it doesn't bother me when someone runs a shopping cart into it or something.
So I said I would make a big update about the racecar, but I didn't really take pics along the way. So have some random stuff I did happen to take photo's
Exhaust!

The earlier mentioned racing slicks I got , they might seem used but they're actually just really fucking dirty.

Finished up the limited slip diff which I bought for 250 yuro
-Replacing gearing from 2.56 with a 3.73 pinion and gearing
-Fabricated 6mm spacer to compensate for smaller gearing
-Replaced oil seals
-Cleaned cap and painted the diff housing
-New Castrol Oil

Mounted the diff, please dont judge my welds :v:

And this is what the car looks like as of last night, not much visual change except for the new polyester headlight covers painted black.

Gonna mount the axles tonight, see if it will actually move on it's own power for the first time.

If you want to fix damage it's a lot easier/cheaper though. I had to pay for repainting a coworker's silver door, it was just a tad cheaper than getting both rear quarters on my black car painted.
Every BMW update is just better and better!!
So, kind of a big update. But was too busy and forgot to take photo's.
But it moves!
But not after having to remove the tranny because some tiny plastic clip decided to ultrafuck itself and leave me clutchless.
However, there's quite a lot of moisture coming out of the exhaust...which kind of worries me. It could be the engine breaking in. (After not having run for months and having been put upside down etc.)
That or the head gasket is fucked :v:

if the motor hasn't run in a few months could it be condensation inside the motor burning off? im not an expert but maybe you can put your hand near the exhaust, if its just water/condensation it would probably feel different when it condenses on your hand as compared to how oil would feel.
It's ran at least 20 times shortly,
I think it's ran about 20 minutes total as of now. Cooling isn't optimal inside so I don't want to get it too hot.
So, in one swift motion I managed to fuck up my entire paint job
Overnight, some really strange rain hit and it left a lot of black rain spots on my car. Alchohol wasn't taking them off. Neither was soap and water. So, I tried Purple Power in one spot and it cleaned it nice and all was well.
So, like a jackass I sprayed my entire car with Purple Power, and by the time I was rinsing it off, all the paint was peeling.
Fuck me, I managed to ruin an entire month of work. Don't be like me.

I re-read your original post and if it's just moisture rather than smoke/steam, it's probably fine. It could just be condensation in the exhaust system or the engine just bedding itself in after having not been run very much.
In other racecar news I'm now registered for an HPDE next weekend... Time to order some new pads and fluid I suppose. Oil too probably. Might as well pick up an OBDII reader while I'm at it... I would go as far as to order a windshield mount for my phone for video but I already have a helmet cam so I probably won't. The built in RaceChrono video feature is really impressive, though.
Have you let it run up to and idle at full temp yet on the BMW? Usually there's moisture until you get a good long warm run on it.
Not quite yet. Will probably do that this weekend.
Alright, so I went and fixed what I could. I've only got a day left before I have to embark on my trip back to college across the state, so I'm going to just have to accept it as it is and wax it maybe a week after I get back.
From a beige, faded, bent up car with gouged out holes in the bumper, this is my final result.

Despite the fuck up, I think I'm a lot happier with the look than when I got it.
I did my first Time Trial with COMSCC at Palmer Motorsports this past weekend. What a hell of weekend it was! First time I've done a 2 day event, but not the first time I've camped out in my car (first night) or in a tent on rough ground (second night).
I impressed a lot of the instructors and head members of the club, especially for being a beginner (even though this was my 6th track day).
I was still off pace though, and that is partly down to how the class rules allow for a fairly wide amount of upgrades. As you can see in my pictures, I'm still on 200TW sticky street tires, don't have coilovers, don't have a full welded-in cage, and don't have a whole lot of weight reduction. The top guys in the same class had slicks, coilovers, although actually I don't think any in my class had a full welded-in cage...but still, if my driving was up to their pace hypothetically, I would still be giving up possibly 3-5s advantage from mods/tires.

that downhill elevation change in your fourth photo looks amazing, but then that concrete wall in the fifth photo looks quite intimidating, as well as a little bit unsafe :v:
im very excited for my upcoming track day, even though it's untimed i'll be keeping track via gps timing and mostly looking for improvement since i dont have any times to compare against. once i get my pads and fluid in it'll be my first time doing brakes on my own, but watching some videos it seemed pretty stupid simple, so i'm not too worried.
mostly hoping to get these stock tires on their way out honestly. that way i can have a clear conscious when i buy a set of stickier tires. although after this track day it's more likely that me and my grandpa will pick up an AW11 to use as a track car.

I think I posted about Palmer before, but yeah, it literally has the most elevation change of any track in the US right now (190ft of change). 10 more ft than Laguna Seca. I think of it like a mini Nurburgring. The similarities are that the elevation is dramatic, and probably 80% of the corners are blind.
The fourth photo is the exit of turn 15, which is right after the Corkscrew-esque turn 14. 14 is a sharp downhill righthander, just like the Corkscrew. Although, the elevation drop is not much compared to the Corkscrew, so I guess I can't make a direct comparison.
Fifth photo is turn 1. Even in my naturally aspirated Miata, I managed to approach that between 95-105mph and brake to take the corner (in which the apex is right against the barriers) around 65-70mph!
I don't know who this dude is, but he takes some good videos of the track and seems to be fast in the TTs he participates in (interesting that NASA runs them all together, COMSCC released us with huge 20s gaps between, and would grant reruns if somehow you caught up to them, say because they went off or something):

Anyway, hope you have the most amazing time at your HPDE. Remember, you are the one in control, so don't get too nervous (like I do...have to constantly pee between sessions). You know how to keep a car in control on the road, so just keep yourself comfortable in the same sense (but also push yourself a little to have fun). The main habits you may or may not need to keep in check are: don't lift mid turn and upset the car, don't "ride" the brakes like on the street; brake harder but for a shorter time to keep the temps down and the car settled, and don't turn abruptly like in an autocross.

I've done a couple track things before this (An introductory HPDE and a racing school) so I'm fairly confident in my ability on track, mostly I'm just looking to improve and try out new brakes and fluid since last time I was out I was getting some super bad fade and boil-off from the stock pads and fluid. From a technique standpoint I'm going to be trying to figure out heel-toe on track. I can do it kinda on the street and I can do it on the track with a sequential gearbox, but doing it on an H-pattern on track in one fluid motion is a little bit hard, so I'm going to be trying to nail that.
We're approaching something like 80 miles or so on the car now since I got the exhaust in.. and starting to get the bugs worked out.
New radiator and fan clutch in.. the temp hovers just over 1/2 now, whether city stop n go driving, or on the freeway. Might go to a cooler thermostat.. but it's not overheating.
Speaking of freeway driving.. with the gearing I have, I'm at 85mph on the speedo to go 70mph for reals. Cruising at about 3200rpm. It's kind of noisy.. but 3200 rpm at freeway speed isn't out of line. It's not too bad.
The noisy transmission is probably because I had maybe 1/2 quart of fluid in it. Yep. Nice. So I dumped that and the diff fluid tonight to change those. Might quiet the trans down a little to have fluid in it...
I had a wheel rubbing a bit in back, too.. so I took the grinder and cut what was left of the rusty lip off inside the fender well. Check.
Been getting the carb and timing close, too... leaning it out until it runs bad then giving it a little more rich. Same with advance.. not bad.
It's getting there!

I love to see forgotten, neglected cars breathing free again. You did a killer job.
My grandparents have a Suzuki Alto from 2010 and there's a small chance I could take it over from them once they're no longer in a fit state to drive. In those 7 years it only has 22,000km on the odometer and as far as I know it literally never had problems before, with the exception that the engine is 'lazy' and takes somewhat longer to start than my dad's 406. How bad of an idea would it be to take this car as my first vehicle after I get my driver's license? Surely it doesn't pack a lot of punch for it being a 3 cylinder 1.0 engine but I noticed yesterday that it's actually pretty snappy, and after all it still looks good.

@Clutch,
It's looking fucking amazing man. The paint, rims, lights..it just fits. You've got some serious skills.
Clutch, are you gonna put covers over the headlights? Looks a little odd with the four cans just exposed like that.
Make some like this :v:

It looks great without covers, IMO
:v:
The car slowly turned its wheels, i turned the steering wheel. and before I knew it. I was actually driving the car

Every time you post about your sweet ride, I swear I can hear my 316 yell "This could be us but you bankrupt" :v:
Anyhow, any tips about removing the power steering? After WRENCHING THE WHEEL REAL HARD on my older shitbox for nearly 2500 kilometers, being back on the newer girl feels very weird. It's like I'm just giving it vague suggestions instead of actually being in control.
