Once again I had to remove the intake manifold of a bmw 4 cylinder engine. To do that, you need to disconnect [I]literally every sensor[/I] on the engine. This is a tedious task, that takes a couple of hours.

Going to miss that third pedal, but whats going in doesn't take 6 years to shift and can hold 1000hp.
Ordered pushrods, valve springs, a really fuckin sweet shifter, and an overpriced reverse manual valve body, couldn't flush money down the toilet as fast as I spend it :/

Why is it a POS?
I've had nothing but good things from the family's 02 Vue. Runs well, gets good fuel economy, can squeal tires on demand, has a functioning A/C...... Out of a little ol 4banger aint too bad.
I think legit we only put a ABS sensor, shocks, tires and the regular oil changes.
If I pick any vehicle to travel in, it will be the trusty saturn.
Granted nowdays good luck finding a unmolested saturn.

For the most part. Domestic manufacturers, moreso.
I meant the shape they're in nowadays more than anything. Im sure there are more than serviceable examples out there, but from interacting with them pretty frequently, nearly a daily basis, most today are junky, worked on for nearly two decades by the cheapest mechanic one could find or otherwise neglected mechanically, or cut to pieces by someone who wanted to make them go fast, things like that.
That's kinda the fate of economy cars, they get chewed up and spit out. The platforms are solid, but they're killed by the owners. Seems to happen more with cheaper cars, is all.
Goddamn Saturns seem to throw timing chains left and right at their age now. We got a decent amount through the shop when I worked there that needed a new head/ timing chain job. Not the best engine.. how does a timing chain fail?! Guides, IIRC. And the interiors aged like SHIT on the L-series. The S/SC/SW wasn't too bad, though.
I spent 10 hours figuring out how to do a remote start in a Jaguar XF yesterday. What a fun day.

My part time guy at work wants to trade his F150 for my '78 XS750 bike.. and I've always wanted a 70's XS650 instead.. so this seems like the perfect time to do that! I'll use the F150 to move and haul building supplies next month when I close on my house, then sell it in summer. Here's hoping. That truck has 287k miles on the clock. What a trooper. 2wd V6.. not a great Wisconsin vehicle sadly. Almost no rust though since it came from Oklahoma!

it's not necessary for power. lower profile tires are generally better for handling up to a point but higher profile tires are more comfortable. that's the only difference on the street

Anybody know of some sort of 12v dc tv or monitor with low input lag around 13-20 inches? Preferably lightweight enough to hang from velcro and not too expensive. Doesnt matter if its got speakers or not. I want to get a screen and retropie setup in my camper that i can run right off the battery. The way i see it i got a couple options,
Hack into a computer monitor or tv and get power to the circuits after the power supply
Find some wierd chinese tiny backup monitor or security system screen of unknown quality and input lag
Suck it up and get an inverter

Many monitors are internally 12volt DC or lower and with the power supply as a separate module.

Its in. It works. Not leaking. This pump was actually slightly different from the last.. Nothing major but the drive had something slightly different with it.
Needs to be bled a bit more tomorrow, but I am too tired to put everything back (fan+shroud) together tonight. Tomorrow its finish that and replace sway bar bushings

12v from a batteryis unregulated, a computer monitor expects a constant voltage supply. it's hard to regulate such a small differential voltage. you're stuck with arm and a dick for a monitor meant to run in a car, arm and a dick for an inverter, or a puny backup monitor.

He'd 'just' need a buck-boost switchmode power supply.
As per usual available from China in various qualities and specifications.
I'd first deal with finding a quality low input latency monitor with the power supply on a separate PCB before dealing with what converter to use.

Try to find USB powered monitors like [url=https://m.newegg.com/product/index?itemnumber=9SIA0V114A8790]this one[/url]. I had the 13" version of this and it was fine. Note: many monitors now exist that use ONLY USB, you want one that just uses USB for power but not video. They exist.
Alternately there are tons of little CRT TVs from the 80s/90s that run off cigarette lighter ports in the 5-10" sizes and have zero input lag.
Had some extra film left over from my trip. Thumb'd cause I'm to lazy to resize.
