You know.... I didn't even pay attention to the fact that the torque converter was your flexplate. That's rather goofy.
Not quite. The chrysler setup has the ring gear on the torque converter, rather than the flywheel like a gm application. The flex plate is still its own piece. Except it goes: motor, flexplate, torque converter, transmission.
In other news. With the new converter the starter spins it. But the battery is super duper dead. :(
I picked up a 2002 Grand Marquis today with 80k miles on it for $900, it got hit in the front pretty good but a 4.6 with 80k miles and driven by some elderly folks, I couldn't pass it up. I'm going to pull the engine and swap it into the Vic and any other misc parts that need replacing on the Vic. Then I'll probably part the body out and sell the transmission and that should help offset the cost pretty well.
Do your Grand Marquis' door cards have the fake wood insets? If so I'd be very interested in acquiring them. I haven't been able to find any myself.
Fueling up!

And tucked back in until it's actually warm enough to ride.

I think it does, I can look this weekend.
this car is listed for about 3x the blue book value but holy shit its clean
https://lexington.craigslist.org/cto/6002421761.html
those head units/climate control are so 90s.... i love that shit.
i just wish the stealth had all the cool 4 wheel steer/active 'aero'/active suspension that the 3000gt did.
Relocated my boost solinoids. They were literally ontop of the shifter, making it hard to shift since I've owned the car. Ran all new lines to everything too.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/85tkzlh.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/GG43z5w.jpg[/t]
Also... My shifter booshing fell out of the linkage.. So now there's a nut and piece of sheet metal holding my shifter onto the transmission... Good notchy shifter now. Lol.
Also, I got all of the boost leaks when I pressure tested my turbo. I tested it up to 20psi, but when driving there still a slight boost leak, but not a normal one. You can hear it blowing on accel and sucking on deccel. It sounds like it's coming from the brake booster area if I had to guess within the cab while driving. What could that be?
I do love autistic vehicle owners
man, apparently the stealth did get the active suspension and 4 wheel steering, but not the active 'aero'. now i want it. if this guy just had it listed for a reasonable price (3500) id buy it
fucking rip

Check all the lines on the intake manifold, if they all check out then it could be something as simple as the line leading to your boost guage! I had an 05sti and it had a clear plastic hose for a boost line, when it got hot the hose couldnt handle the pressure
had this for a couple years

been fixing it up recently as rust had gotten the better of the exhaust and some of the underside.
[sp]but I still can't even drive yet whoops. I browse here hoping to get the motivation to shell the cash finally [/sp]

dude, that thing looks legit. i love blue on cars, and the whole car just looks so great in those colors, combined with those wheels... wow.
is insurance just too expensive in the uk or something?

I'm looking at paying around £2300p.a. minmum as a young driver for it which is absurd but I'm determined to be driving that thing so I've just been saving up. I haven't been working for a few months and don't go back to continue full time until late July so I've hit a bit of a wall.

jesus. i'd heard that the UK's insurance prices were absurd, but 2800usd/year is absolutely crazy! especially for an old mini!
that is absolutely bizarre, and it sucks, im sorry to hear that :(
i have to wonder why UK insurance is so much, here in the states im driving probably one of the most crashed vehicles (FR-S/86/BRZ) and i'm <25, but my insurance is still less than 1/4th of yours.

My insurance is like $1400/yr and I haven't had it renegotiated since I started driving my own car at 20
Granted it probably doesn't cover a fucking thing, but still
Anyone have a Rockauto coupon greater than 5%?
Looking to order struts, but with shipping and 5% off, they're more than other places.
Finally getting around to doing my lift on my SUS.

Heres where i am now, going for a 1" lift with Forester springs.
Can someone cue me in on how the fees for the fancy black California legacy plates work? Is it an extra $46 on top of the annual registration fee?
Today didn't go as planned
Bought but never got control arms
bought a e30 starter engine but received a e36 one (with wrong gearing)
bought a e30 pressure group but received the wrong model
installed the motorsport oil pump but I received the wrong lenght chain so it didnt fit
LETS HOPE TOMORROW BRINGS MORE JOY
I do like the look of my car (Ford) when it's clean. I wouldn't mind getting it machine polished at some point, the driver's side door has been repainted I think, it's in terrible nick compared to the rest of the paint. The Golf was my brother's, he traded that for an A4 which he's now selling.
[t]http://oi64.tinypic.com/2h6wzue.jpg[/t]
I'm not that keen on machine polishing black cars.
Black really emphasizes microscopic scratches in the clearcoat.

My black car has swirls all over from a cheap machine polish job don't do it.

I plan to polish my car.
From what i understand, machine polishing is fine.
It's just; avoid rotary polishers. Use DA or orbital minimum.
Use quality polish, this makes a huge difference.
I have watched vids on it. Technique, products, etc. Make big differences.

There isn't any more than 5% coupons and in the past they were and are very specific to certain things or people, ect.

Oregon's Pacific Wonderland plates are like an extra $100 or something insane every two years but that's how it works up here.
Welpo, guess who gets to replace an alternator on their car in a couple weeks instead of doing a paper route?

Yea. Its just like having a vanity plate. Or you can find a real black plated car that hasnt been registered in a long while, say in a junkyard and apply to have those plates registered to your car.

So, what's stopping anyone from applying for black plates, "losing" them, and then applying for normal plates but then running the "lost" black ones anyway?
Also, that opens another can of worms. What about vanity plates and the black plates together like cubeman? Another $45 on top of everything else? If so, damn, that's so not worth.
Because the lost ones won't come back to a vehicle
Welpo, guess who gets to replace an alternator on their car in a couple weeks instead of doing a paper route?
Usually that's not too hard
Nah. Bolts right on the front of my motor with plenty of space to get to everything. Just annoying having one more fucking thing to replace on my car.
Heya carpunch, I've been looking around for a decent cheap car. Are there any advantages to a dodge neon besides its "literally dirt cheap" price?
it's literally dirt cheap
