derby car.
Look elsewhere tho man, You can pick up a nissan sentra like the 01-03ish area for about the same price. Toyota camrys, little honda accords, fuck I will even pick a damn kia before I would touch a neon or cobalt.

Ready for my OP spotlight
I still haven't put my Miata back together in running order, even though there's no real snow left, and the salt has started washing away because of rain every 2-3 days. The cold air keeps threatening snow, and I've just been too busy with school to put aside 2-3 hours to tackle a few things I want to upgrade or do preventative maintenance on. Things like the cooling system hoses, maybe flush the radiator and run water with water wetter (maybe >15% antifreeze as well, but still researching how anal trackday organizers are about having out of the system in case of a crash), as well as change the alternator belt (already did power steering belt). Also have to reconnect the battery, put the air intake assembly back on, put my hardtop back on (bought GarageStar security brackets so hopefully it will fit tighter than with the factory latches).
Other upgrades that don't have to happen immediately are changing the brake lines to SS, swapping in new rotors with G-Loc Gs-1 pads, bleeding in Motul RBF600 fluid, and putting on beefier sway bars front and rear.
Despite the popular claim having no rear bar works better, I've dug deep enough to conclude ultimately the slight understeer that comes with no rear bar and a big front bar is only good for some autocrossers. But I'm hoping to focus on trackdays more, so autocross isn't as big of a priority now. Plus, I've read of people being successful with rear bars, it's just that there is more oversteer to deal with, so people typically have to wait a tad longer to get back on the power, and that's mainly with autocross speeds. Once you're doing track speeds, the bigger rear bar helps.

I remember being very humbled by someone driving one of these at my first autocross. I was really scratching my head, because I knew it was much heavier than a Miata, and the driver came off as very casual. But somehow he really did well, doubt it was his first time as well.
So, what's stopping anyone from applying for black plates, "losing" them, and then applying for normal plates but then running the "lost" black ones anyway?
Also, that opens another can of worms. What about vanity plates and the black plates together like cubeman? Another $45 on top of everything else? If so, damn, that's so not worth.
Since license plates are technically not your property, they are tags issues by the state. They will not issue a vanity plate for a 6 numbered plate that already exists. The real black california plates have 6 digits. You can ask to have your car registered to a set of black plates youve aquired. As long as no one has those plates registered in a long time, you can do so. People do it all the time. When you do as you described, and apply for normal plates, youll receive a random number so you cant run your old "lost" plates.
Heck my black plates arent even original to the car. They were issued in 1964. 3 years before my car was ever made so it got its black plates in the manner of finding a car that didnt need them anymore. You can even keep the license plate off a car you want to sell to apply it to a new car you buy. But its a big pain to do so.

there's a guy around here with an 06 GTO that has the best exhaust note I've ever heard
next time I catch him I'll ask if I can record it. he's at the gas station almost as often as I am (ie almost daily) so I see that car a lot there
e: I know where he lives too he lives in the same apartment complex that a buddy of mine used to live at. also I've followed it around more than once just saying "damn that's a good noise" the whole drive

If you run plates reported lost or stolen, be prepared to get pulled out of your car at gunpoint. The local constabulary here and many other metro police agencies treat it as a felony stop because of the egregious probability it's a stolen vehicle.
Even if not, though, it's a crime.

PT Cruiser is amazing.
I genuinely didn't know the PT crusier was meme-tier hated for the longest time, considering my dad took me to exclusively mopar shows when I was young, and there were usually whole fields dedicated to them :v:
This entire page is cursed. PT cruiser, SSR... Please no. I'd rather try to forget that that period of car styling ever existed

Can't we go back to late 70's or 80's weird?
Oldschool digital dashboards, car bodies with sharp lines and edges and square-ish interiors makes me diamonds.
Mid to late 70s cars are hideous, bulbous, overweight, underpowered boat mobiles and I love them, they're awful and it's so so good
There is honestly something magical and fantastic about a car that's so unabashedly terrible
If you get past the looks it's a great car. Has a bullet proof 2.4L in turbo and non-turbo. Comes in your choice of 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. Has full leather interior if you so want. The parts and upgrades for a Neon are basically bolt ons.
My PT Cruiser is an '05 GT model with seat warmers, "leather" (really comfortable), Stage 1 PCM (adds 20whp or more, and really fast shifts), sun roof, and some bitchen paint. It was stupid cheap and it's fast as fuck. It fits four full sized adults comfortable and it's a wagon. It's exactly what people constantly complain about not having in the market. They just hate it because it's a circlejerk. I race fucking Mustangs with it, and win. Even I don't win, I still laugh my ass off because I'm racing Mustangs in a fucking PT Cruiser. Win win. The only thing I don't like about it is the turn radius sucks, but so does my SRT-4.
Sounds cool too.
I'm not butt hurt, but people need to just chill and quit going with the crowd. It's fun to have quirky cars that are really good at what they do.
Only reason I'm eating optimistic is no one just buys a srt4 if they are strictly looking for a neon.
Every single one ice ever seen are just ragged out and their engines are not long for this world. That's why I would rather point to the import cars of that era instead. Way better reliability with high millage.
Dirty as fuck car with new apartment in background

well in the course of my washing the car I've noticed that the driver's side door has a different metallic shade in the black. the rest of the car has a green tinge to the black which is regular old Ford Panther Black and it's an amazing colour. but my driver's side door has a blue metallic tinge. fuck knows what that colour is but whoever resprayed it is clearly fucking blind. that door is in so much worse condition than the rest of the paint as well, it's such a shame

Like the dude that was being sued by his neighbors for "running a shop" in his neighborhood. The guy doesn't have anything below his knee and still does most of his own work. A short documentary on the man and his neighbors, in case you haven't seen it:

So I've been thinking. Are the first generation 350z's the new 240zx now? At least for my area? I don't know about you guys but every 240 around me is like 1.5k for a "Decent" roller. A absolute rust bucket that runs somewhat is nearly 2.5k. And a okay-ish one runs 5k+ I've seen some for 8-9k with barely any bolt-on's.
Yet every 350z I have under 100k miles 5 speed is in the same ballpark, 5k-10k+ depending on mod's and milage. I'm thinking about picking one up as a new daily and to kind of fuck around with. The mod list for 350's now are insane.
