Yeah, it's a '12 690 SMC. I daily rode the 125 for two years as it was the most powerful thing I was allowed to drive. Once I got my car license it went mostly unused, it wouldn't charge the battery and with only 8kw it was a pain in the arse (and penis) to ride any faster than 50-60kph. I'll probably be better with the KTM when I get my license and have some experience with that kind of power. Now I'm a little scared of starting riding with my instructor though, 'cause I think he has a Suzuki GSR750 which is supposed to have like 100 hp. [editline]12th March 2017[/editline] It's also supposed to be around 5C all week, and considering my riding instructor was talking about starting lessons in April back in 2013 I'm thinking we might be starting soon, meaning I'm starting to freak out a bit about getting the bike ready. It needs a new shifter tip (in the mail), and needs to be restricted and registered as a medium-light motorcycle (A2) That's where the issue is. I'll need to take it in to the dealer, who'll need to order papers for it (which takes two weeks), which means they need a copy of the title, which I don't have and won't get until it's registered to me, which won't happen until I pick up the license plate and pay the fee, and even then it'll take a couple days/a week until it arrives in the mail. My mate's GF might be able to pick up the plate and pay the fee for me tomorrow, and then I can finally get the wheels moving. And when all the paperwork is finally ready I have to trailer the bike to Bergen (2,5hours each way) just to have them hook up the bike to a laptop with a $72 cable for 5 minutes and let it idle for 15.

I think you will find the suzuki is actually a bit bland in comparison (which is probably what you'd want if you had to ride around all day teaching people..)
I was always told that there are two types of riders - those who've dropped, and those who will. I guess after 6 years it was my turn. While riding home Wednesday evening, I was entering a bend in a road I take everyday. Nothing too crazy, cruising at a nice pace, and as I began to countersteer the rear wheel began to slip. At that point I had two options: lowside the bike, or attempt to correct and bring it upright. I chose the latter, and began to lightly pull the front brake while leaning my weight in the opposite direction. The bike straightened right up, but not in time for me to slow down enough to prevent from driving off the road on the apex of the turn. I locked up the rear, hit the front as much as safely possible, and rode right into a ditch. Now, it's been raining heavily in Cali the last few weeks - and as such, this ditch had become mud. Maybe 3 feet into the ditch my front tire dug in and chucked me off the bike. I flew roughly 20 feet before landing dangerously close to a nearby barbed wire fence, smacking my head hard on something that I was unable to find after. However, my helmet, jacket, gloves, and boots did their job fabulously, and since ground was so soft my impact was lessened greatly. Had I hit the pavement, this would be a different story. I picked myself up, ears ringing, bright lights flashing in my eyes, and checked myself for injuries, yet I had not a scratch and all my gear was intact apart from a scratched up helmet. I called my girlfriend who came immediately, and as we were waiting for a tow a contractor pulled up in his work truck and offered to load the bike up for me, as my destination was only 5 minutes away. I then checked myself into the ER to be sure I hadn't had a concussion, and after a few CAT scans and x-rays they concluded I was perfectly fine other than some bruised and mildly contused internal organs, which would heal on their own with a few days of rest. I enjoyed 3 doses of morphine and was sent home with a bottle of percocet. I feel perfectly fine and am happy to be alive. The bike, in its current condition, only needs a new right handlebar, front fairing support, and gauge cluster to be ridable. The motor is healthy and runs. I'm very sad that this bike I'd only gotten 3 months ago, and had only put 1500 miles on, was trashed, particular after 6 years of riding and waiting to buy myself something nice. On top of that I'd just installed my new Delkevic exhaust worth $320, which is now dented on one side. I didn't take pictures at the scene, but here it is now: [t]http://imgur.com/buJnx61.jpg[/t] [t]http://imgur.com/qNkglcK.jpg[/t] [t]http://imgur.com/250ZA9A.jpg[/t] [t]http://imgur.com/ypsXKSX.jpg[/t] It was a bit depressing, so I spent 5 and a half hours yesterday detailing the very neglected Miata, whose paint had faded to a dull blue due to me riding nonstop. I couldn't see any reflections through the haze... but she's very happy now. [t]http://imgur.com/PSgpJNX.jpg[/t] [t]http://imgur.com/DjSvnnK.jpg[/t] [t]http://imgur.com/l2RWhIP.jpg[/t] Anyway, moral of the story - seasoned rider or not, there will be a day you face the road head on. I'm very, very lucky to have avoided any objects or serious injury, and that my gear, which I never neglect to wear, performed perfectly. Ride safe guys, and next week I'll reveal my next bike I'm picking up on Saturday.
Glad you're okay. So, street fighter conversion? [editline]13th March 2017[/editline] And to make up for my walls of text, have a little clip of my riding: [editline]13th March 2017[/editline]
I've never ridden one (GSR750), but I wouldnt fret, it's a much more civilised bike and sure, it's got like 50% more peak power but it is also considerably heavier, around 50% again. But yeah, he's a good instructor (I've done both my A1 and my B license with him) and he definitely picked it because it's good for learning to ride on.
Good to hear you got out with minor injury's.. Hopefully you'll get it back to riding state rather soon!

A couple of times now Ive misjudged a turn in a loose gravel road out in the black hills and scooted my ass off the high side, but Ive had incredible luck only falling into relatively tame and obstacle-free ditches. The worst mishap so far, I was coming down an extremely sandy hill on some trails, front wheel slipped out, I caught my knee on a tree trunk, and flipped the bike over on top of me before sliding down the hill. Sorta fucked up my knee for a week or so, I think I may have popped that fluid sack thing, and judging from the pain breathing for a few days, bruised a rib. It didnt help that I also puked a couple times and felt like shit with flu-like symptoms for a few days after that. I came out of that with a sick scar, and the lesson learned to stop wearing jeans with holes in the knees.

To be clear, the body on this car does need some work, the rear quarter panel has a dent, and there are some rust spots around the wheel well. There is no major rot on the car, but it certainly needs a full restoration. For the full history of the car you can see my build log. It is a full running and driving car using a 2.4L caravan block, SRT-4 internals. 420A head, Stratus intake manifold, SRT turbofold all run by MS3 with an unused MS3x card. The transmission is a MA5 with a Jeep Liberty Bellhousing and dual mass flywheel with a Chevy 2.2L clutch and pressure plate. Essentially this is a fully running turbo dodge RWD swap....in a 77 Celica body you can choose to keep or scrap. Included with the motor are these planned upgrades: Holset HY-35 Turbo and SS SRT-4 turbo manifold, Fidanza 2.2/2.5l Aluminum flywheel(the plan being to replace the ring gear on this flywheel with the Liberty ring gear to enable starter engagement, Also included is a Dakota 2.2/2.5 bellhousing as an alternative way to get the flywheel working). Also incuded is a Custom box intake manifold based off a 2.0 DOHC neon base and a 60mm Jeep TB. The only reason I am selling is to fund one final project I want to build."
I got EXTREMELY excited when I read it was $2400 running and driving, and I SHIT MY PANTS my it said it was an Alberta car! and then BAM, it hit me it was from Alberta-Nashville.... Ahhhh that 1st gen Celica is pretty gnarly. Lucky for me with the house business I don't have the liquid funds to pick up vehicles number like.. 8. :v: someone's gonna get a dope ride once they fix that body up. While I waited for body filler to dry I got antsy tonight and wanted to inspect the noisy bearings on the rear axle of my sweet (not)new F150. So I got to work by flashlight in the snow and get things done. Why do I do this to myself? Almost rounded off the 8mm bolt that holds in the spider gear pin in the diff.. but it came out. Then the axles slid out nice and easy. The drums popped right off, too. Oklahoma truck represent. No rust to piss around with. SO. The good axle I didn't feel any play in was all like.. That darn dry bearing wore like a 1/16" deep groove in it the whole way around. So, more parts! Dorman has a kit with the axle, bearing, and seal that it looks like I'll need. That should get it back on the road, though! The funny part is my coworker who I got the truck from was 'surprised' to hear that there was rear end noise. It's like, dude.. it's been leaking a long time to get like that, and obviously dry long enough to wear that much into the axle. Sigh, catching it right away would've turned this $150 repair into a $40 repair for a seal and new diff fluid. Ah well. Once parts come in she'll be ready to haul drywall.

Anyone in socal want to buy my RV? It's lovely inside, all appliances work except the heater, the engine wants a new carb but is usable, and the generator runs like new. $1500 facepunch special, it's going on CL for 2k. The importer pre-sold all of the engines they got in already, seems like they're shipping multiple truck loads a day. Hell one of the shops up north drives down there every month or so to pick up a trailer full of engines to sell them up here for an extra $50. Residential delivery also seems to only be another $35 so I'm definitely just getting it dropped at my house. Might just get it by the end of the month hopefully, it's already been a month lol. I'll be able to make some fan switch jumper harnesses and sell the rest as 1 wire vtec kits for dirt cheap on ebay/CL or something. The 2 wire plugs are for $6 shipping are only taking 4 business days to get here. Definitely beats the hell out of paying $45 for a shitty harness someone made out of a bunch of hacked up free wiring harnesses from the junkyard. Really impressive what you can get off there, those cheap OBD2 bluetooth things are $2.50-3.50 shipped.

Hit and run on the Miata this morning. Light turned green and the guy behind me let off the brake and hit me, then took off. I chased him down, made sure to get him on video and read off his license plate to the dash cam. And then I learned that the camera hasn't been recording anything since March 1st.
Hows your MR2 doing.
It's a project that never ends, I've hit a wall because of electrical and wiring issues to be specific. I have to take the whole dash apart to replace my cluster as well as hunt down an electrical leak somewhere that's draining my battery. Honestly if I had more money and general know how I'd be in a better place. Still haven't replaced the transmission either, I didn't have a spare car for over a year so getting to and from work would've been impossible. Hopefully she'll get some more updates in the near future.
Aw crap, exactly what I was afraid would happen happened. I sold my last car to a friend of mine (protip, don't do this) because he needed a car bad and I wanted to be rid of mine. At the time I thought it was best of both worlds, I hadn't had any major issues in 40k miles of owning the car and he needed a point A to B runabout for a good deal. This way I didn't need to worry about listing it on craigslist or selling it to a dealer or any of that crap. Everything was fine for a few months until today when he lets me know that the car is squealing and the power steering doesn't work and the battery light is on. That says something attached to the serpentine belt froze up to me (hopefully an idler and not the water pump or tensioner). I know it's not my car anymore but since it's a buddy of mine I still feel a bit responsible.
20$ part and 20$ belt she's good. Ship happens.
