So uh, i have to remove a bolt from the FDU mount to replace a small cover that rotted off, because jaguar. And the bolt seems to be stripped/fractured. I turn it as much as i can and it keeps rotating without backing out. I don't have an impact gun or anything like that, so what can i do, or alternately how fucked am i?
Also shoutout to the guy that decided that to replace a return line, i have to take off the right rear quarter panel, which means taking off the bumper, which means several dozen little bitty bolts behind three dozen other itty bitty bolts i have to get out on my back with rust/dirt falling into my eyes. Thanks Coventry.
I try to source from ebay, rockauto and if I really need to, ECS or the stealership. The expansion tank I had I got from rockauto and they sent me the one for the 2002+ c5's (my a6 is an 01) and they sent me a bad one at that. I just went with the one from ECS this time because the only dealership near me is in a different state and they wanted like $200 and it was going to take a month to ship it to me. I'm just not super car savvy either so I tend to get kinda fearful about buying parts and doing the work my self. I know the basics of how they work, and I've rebuilt dirtbike engines back when I raced motorcross in my high school days but idk, cars scare me a bit.
I love the car, really all I gotta do to it is figure out my washer fluid leak, re-solder the display on my dash, figure out my generic yellow oil sensor warning and replace/fix that, and the car's basically mint other than some cosmetic shit on the interior and a barely noticeable scratch on the front bumper that was there when I bought it. It occasionally throws a p1423 error code but I only get it once every few months and only if it's been pretty cold, idk what that's about, goes away on its own though so whatever.
So basically I probably just have to replace the sensor on the oil pan, and the display is just a big project. Fuck the washer fluid though, I have no desire to mess with that, weird ass tank shape and all.
I source 99% from junkyards 1% from autozone
Hahaha the easiest thing on that list is the washer fluid tank. I bet you its leaking on the pump seals, they just slip right in and water can bypass them really easily. Just take you some rtv and smeer it all around the shaft and stick it back in. (take your fender liner out so you can see wat your doin)
FUCK the dash. I sent mine off to module masters and was fine with paying. I also sent my ABS module to them too. The only thing I resoldered was the Cruise Control module.
Dont be afraid of the Audi. Only be afraid of the prices for parts. There are litterly more posts on audiforums with step by step everythings known to man.
I'd bet money on it's the washer pump seal.
It's ALWAYS that fucker when it's leaking sprinkler fluid.
And I'm blessed with the fact it's just a trip south of the border where Audi's over 10 years old are almost dime a dozen, so plenty of parts donors.
If there were more parts audis in my area I would have kept mine. I needed a lot of odd ball peices that were too big to ship.
But ultimately it's apparent that the transmission pump seal failed making fluid gush out the front of the trans and not allowing enough line pressure to hold gears. I do have to say that the fucker was built like a tank. I tried twisting the body on jack stands and none of the body gaps changed and all the doors opened and shut just as nice as day.
My only large gripe was the lackluster 200hp, a failed sunroof cover, bumper that alwase looked like it was falling off and valve cover gaskets that wouldn't fucking last.

But Jesus it could pegg that Speedo and do it all the way to dfw and back.
Whenever you guys start discussing Audi's, all I can think of is this video my boss sent 6 years ago of his buddy's souped up S6 that tore motor mounts all day and ran maybe once a week.

Reminds me of my buddy, he once rode with me in the green M3 racecar.
When I did a warmup lap I shifted really gently, but after I took off on the straight he was't expecting the massive punches from shifting. (motorsport quick shifter, 9lbs flywheel, reinforced pressure plate and racing clutch)
He was holding his phone filming, and the force actually ripped the phone from his hand and threw into the back :v:
Just dropped $550 on new suspension and (this is stupid, but I thought it'd be funny) drilled and slotted rotors and brake pads for my PT Cruiser.
Then another $1000 on coilovers for my Neon. No more blown struts and lowering springs!

I just remember thinking, "Launch control at 5300 RPM, wha-" then BOOM like a fucking gunshot 60mph.

Hence torn motor mounts... PPF failures... diff failures... etc.
We got our parking lot re-paved at work. The new blacktop was beautiful until some retard drove around the cones to park on top of the still-hot asphalt because she didn't want to walk the extra 10 feet, so our nice new parking lot will forever be marred by this degenerate snowflake's tire tracks.

My dirty little green car. Tomorrow I'll be replacing the coolant tank and splicing on my new connector, assuming FedEx actually delivers not broken shit to me this time. Basically I'm hoping for a shipping miracle.
I need to wash it too but eh, it's probably going to rain here soon and I hate washing my car right before it fucking rains and ruins all my hard work.

I always do burnouts when I find fresh asphalt
why though??? Asphalt is really fuckin expensive
Like it's cheap as paving solutions go but it still costs a good chunk of change
Do you use some cheap mix of asphalt or something? Here in Norway they use the new asphalt almost immediately after it's been laid, without any issue.
While it's cooling it's still malleable, a car driving on it will create depressions. I don't know of any asphalt mixture that can't be shaped while it's hot. It didn't leave deep ruts or anything but the impressions are there in our otherwise pristine surface.
So, whats everyone's opinion on ebay/china braided hoses and clamps?
I'll be running a default fuel setup for now. So stock pumps/filter/fuel-rail. All renewed tho. But I really don't feel like spending 350 euro's on goodridge braided lines and clamps.
So I'm contemplating on buying ebay fuel lines and clamps. It's a fairly simple setup, it will be running at like 4-5bar max. (70psi)
It's 5/16 line (8mm ID)
Stock filter/hose/clamps

(The hoses aren't from ebay but from a local shop, which seems trustworthy and is specialized in banger-races)
The PO of my Daytona told me found a BRAND NEWLY PAVED asphalt road that was coned off on the highway and promptly blasted through it as fast as he could. He said it keeps the bottom from rusting. Sure as shit, there's a good layer of asphalt on the bottom of it.
I was on a tiny gravel road once and it went right past the very end of a brand shiny fresh new 4 lane concrete street.
I made sure to christen it with rubber
So guess who fixed their washer fluid leak without removing jack fucking shit from the car. Me.
I reach my long ass hand down to this hard as plastic brittle feeling line coming from the pump and bam, looks like I found the leak, cracked line in a tube that I'm pretty sure shouldn't be this hard? Idk. Whatever, so I try and get a better idea where the leak is by poking gently at the thing and my slight movement of it cracks the bastard in half and I'm spilling fluid everywhere.
Solution? I cut the rubber tube just as it comes out of the side of the car to the hood and splice an old piece of silicon turbo hose and some spare fuel line that was laying about my garage since I didn't have anything perfectly long enough. Anyway now I got this really fucking legit silicon hose mounted to my pump and this fuel line goes basically from shortly above that all the way to the good rubber hose that was mounted to that shitty plastic crap thing.
So I mean, it's pretty overkill for washer fluid but it'll outlast every other piece on this car and it hides well enough. The only shitty part is I didn't have enough straight hose things and had to use a T with one side blocked at the end there. So it's defo pretty hack-job but I'll get it proper eventually. I'll probably run proper size good tubing all the way up from the pump whenever the pump actually goes bad, because theres no way in hell I'm reinstalling OEM garbage hose/tube/whatever the fuck it is.
TL:DR; Clampazzo can't justify taking the front left wheel and half the front end off just to wrestle with replacing some stupid fucking brittle plastic line that carries fucking washer fluid.

because butre is a tough rebel without a cause and a true #badlad
not on hot asphalt or anything, just enough to leave a little bit of rubber.
Here in Texas it gets so hot the asphalt re softens and you can damage it buy turning too sharp or a RV puts down its stabilizer jacks.
Here in VA we just don't put down new asphalt and are basically zipping around on enhanced gravel roads

Be a real shame if someone nabbed the plate and billed him for a whole new parking lot.
In upstate New York, snow melts every spring and seeps beneath the pavement causing pothole hell and construction season. Roads getting completely repaved on the cheap every five years isn't enough, and nobody wants to pay the taxes necessary for quality repair.

Fuck you talking about? Here in VA we do 65 of flat-ass dirt roads over a mountain cliffside. We ain't no fancy 'nough for that asphalt sheit here.
Heh, here in floridas mid section, we dont know what road repair is till theres a hole large enough to eat an amc gremlin every 20ft.
People round these parts just play "swing it round and hope ya miss"
