I honestly loved my Federal Super Steel 595's on my Audi, and apparently they are the go-to driftu tire now due to their cheapness. [editline]27th March 2017[/editline] nevermind they are made in amercia fuck.
I was thinking of getting Federal 595 RSRs for my mr2. Have anything to say about them? Overall, I hear pretty decent things, despite being $75~ at walmart. Also, a matching set, front and back, in 235/40-17 and 215/40-17 seems to be hard to come by. I'm running kumho ecstas in those sizes currently, but for some reason not even tirerack has them in those sizes.
I didn't have the RSR's, I just had the regular 595's All Seasons. They were a hair slippery when wet, but then again I was flicking a 4k lbs Audi around like it was a toy. I bought them with a set of wheels already on, and drove the piss out of them. I cant even begin to tell you how many miles I put on them... 30k miles? Let's just say I wore out the car faster then the tires. :v: Mine were 235/40 R18's I believe. I would literally 10/10 buy them again without a doubt. There's really not much for me to say about them other then they were tires and didn't care. Oh and I ruined 2 of them by letting my Inner fenders cut into them.... Still ran them at 120+mph.
Yeah I'm not sure I wanted to put the full numbers on here :v:
I added all the shit up for my truck and it was a terrible idea, it was double what I was thinking.... Currently at $34000 I think, but I have everything at the very least.... for now
I would say something along the lines of har har enjoy your Bosch Mechanical Fuel Injection. But it has real EFI. Neat. Go for it.
CIS isn't bad as long as you know how it works and don't screw around with the idle mixture range.
Yeah but actual EFI is far less work. Also this car might have been registered this whole time so I might not even owe significant back fees.

Also, Im thinking of building a bigger sort of off road minibike. No suspension, big baloon tires, low gearing, sort of like a wannabe 1wd rokon. A friend of mine has a fat tire minibike frame I could start with.
Yeah but actual EFI is far less work. Also this car might have been registered this whole time so I might not even owe significant back fees.
It's only less if you have to mess with the fuel distributor and cold start/WUR mechanism. Otherwise it's about the same, neither system will tell you how it breaks when it breaks. Though, Motronic does have its bonuses, like better fuel economy and reduced oil degradation. That 944 should be a fun project, but make sure you tear it down a little bit (bumpers off, wheels off), do a ton of cleaning, and do a lot of inspecting before ordering parts. German cars in general can be money pits if you try to rush into getting them from inoperable, to operable condition. My best advice to you is to be methodical, move slow, set goals, and try to get into the heads of the engineers who designed the car (not just understand that a component is in a fuckall stupid place, but why it's in that fuckall stupid place to begin with). If you have issues with the fuel injection system and can't find a solution on Rennlist, you should be able to find the information to find a solution on almost any BMW forum as most 80s BMWs use Motronic.
My mechanic had a look while he was under the Saab and found a couple of nice holes in the pinch weld. $1200-$2400++ job according to him. Hasn't seen under the side skirts which are known to hide rust as well. :(
Have you seen the rust holes? Don't have that done until you see them. Ever since you posted the CV boot failure, I've been under the impression that this mechanic is looking to make a few quick bucks off of you.
Thanks Slithers! Slow and steady is my plan, as well as plenty of quality time with the pressure washer set to mild. We've settled on a hundred bucks since the owner just wants it gone mostly, but still wants to feel like he made some money. My dad will bring up our Exploder so we only have to rent a trailer, instead of renting an entire pickup and paying out the ass for mileage. I've been reading Pelican Parts guides on the car in anticipation. It looks like it's actually a relatively simple motor to work on, despite being a Porsche. It's also been stored under a car cover, which is a massive bonus. Oh and it's confirmed registered non-op so no fees and it only has 84k miles and it's a sick. :hypeisreal:
Looks like the camshaft sensor in my girlfriend's car shit the bed. So I'm replacing it tomorrow. Wish me luck.

I tend to use AutohausAZ and Importec Auto Parts when I have to order parts for my Benzes, as they carry decent goods for cheap. Speaking of parts, I should warn you about the dangers of the aftermarket parts world. German cars in general have finer tolerances compared to cars made elsewhere, and the type of rubber or plastic that is used matters quite a lot. There are plenty of brands committed to producing quality components that meet the original specifications, and then there are plenty of brands that don't while claiming they do. Brands to avoid would be URO Parts, Karlyn, KAE (Kaehler), MTC, and anything Meyle that isn't in their HD product line. Also, there are some brands (Febi-Bilstein, not affiliated with the coveted shock and damper maker) that just repackage parts, but they're usually a higher quality than the shit pile brands aforementioned. Also, some shit parts from the brands above can be made good with some imagination, but you have to be smart about it. For example, on my S-Class, there is a monovalve to control coolant flow into the heater core, only two companies make it, one is listed for $15 (made by MTC), another is listed for $140. I bought the MTC valve, because I can change it in 10 minutes, which is good because it failed immediately. I determined that the part didn't work because the spring in the valve body was non-conforming, so I used some knowledge I got from the forums and disassembled both valves, and put the diaphragm (the part of the part that fails) of the new valve on the body of the old valve, and voila I had a working monovalve. A good rule to use when buying parts is to determine how much time it costs you to replace the part (shop time for the job times how much you make per hour at your job), then add the cost of buying a new aftermarket (cheap) part if it fails prematurely, and the cost any other parts that said part takes with it. Sum all of those up, and if it's less than the cost of a genuine or equivalent part, buy the cheap part and take the risk, if not, buy the genuine part and move on with your life. Also as a unusual/ranty sidenote, don't listen to the shmucks who talk shit about plastic water pump impellers, they don't understand that water pumps are wear items, and that cavitation erosion eats metal impellers.

Holy crap that would be like $5000 in WI. I closed on my house today. So.. I'm in debt! Oh well. Finally got to check out how much we'll be able to fit in the garage... 3 deep if they're small.. 3 wide if they're really really small and we wanna pack them in, winter storage style. I'm feeling really good about it. I would invest in a fence for the rear access and motion flood lights. That's begging for a burglary

But I did a reverse image search and it came up on a few sites so chances are its just a filler pic. Not to mention its a quad cab (opening rear doors) short box. $1700 isnt too bad for a gas job long so long as it isnt beat to snot or rotted out, the trucks themselves are tanks (gas jobs are bad on fuel though). 98 is a weird year because they changed the interior for just that one year so sometimes stuff is weird to find. All in all, grille the guy down a few hundred if everything checks out and you cant go wrong.
"Very low miles at 119,000" ??? I guess I can start advertising my 175k Eclipse as "lowish miles"

Ill likely contact him. But the bad on gas was a concern. I am getting 11mpg with the magnun in the durango. Im assuming this will be worse especially being higher like that. But if it gets the same mileage its better if i had a truck. I was thinking of grilling it down too. [editline]28th March 2017[/editline]
"Very low miles at 119,000" ??? I guess I can start advertising my 175k Eclipse as "lowish miles"
Its all relative. Typically a 19 year old truck has been driven hard with a bunch of miles. My Durango is close to 190,000. Almost Honda status.
"Very low miles at 119,000" ??? I guess I can start advertising my 175k Eclipse as "lowish miles"
It's all very relative to the vehicle, year, etc. My '99 Impreza at 249k miles was considered average miles, while my '99 Legacy Outback SUS at 114k miles is considered 'beyond belief low'. Depending on year, your Eclipse may have low miles.
"Very low miles at 119,000" ??? I guess I can start advertising my 175k Eclipse as "lowish miles"
My 07 Xterra had ~100k on it, was considered well below the average. A dodge that old is usually pushing or past 200k.
"low miles" is relative to the engine, not the age. yeah my truck has another hundred thousand in it but that sure as shit doesn't make it low miles
My f250 has over 550k on most of the truck, and around 50k on the engine and gearbox. "Low miles" Lol
I put a stock mechanical fuel pump in my car, and all my fuel problems have vanished. No more stalls, low rpm fuck ups or holding back, I can drive faster as 80km/h again wooh. Also no more stupid noice of that loud as fuck electric pump
My f250 has over 550k on most of the truck, and around 50k on the engine and gearbox. "Low miles" Lol
my Silverado has almost 300k on the plugs and I'm afraid to take them out because they'd surely just break at the thread. haven't swapped them since 75000 miles
I would invest in a fence for the rear access and motion flood lights. That's begging for a burglary
You ain't kiddin. There's a huge lamp that n the post by the Camaro/eclipse you can see that stays on all night, plus a motion lamp on the garage rear. I'm thinking maybe a camera, though, maybe. It saved my buddy who had tires stolen from his truck a few blocks away. They caught the asshole
this hurts to read
I'm surprised they still work. I've had some spark plugs go bad within 40K miles.
@ Clutch That looks fine as hell. Also was the crane in the garage allready there?
Any good sites on where to put on a full album of pictures? I've been really busy stripping my corrado, and building the new engine for the car.. Also i bought a Golf mk3 GTI 16v which was an absolute horror because of all the rot, and bad mending of the rust, so i've spent the last month repairing the whole goddamn car, and giving it some love. Cheers..
all 8 still fire good, they are iridium plugs so they do last, but I'm sure the gap could stand to be adjusted
