Where did this happen? In CO?
Highway 1 in California. Severe mudsliding and such throughout the bay due to the storms rolling through after years of severe drought.
Highway 1 in California. Severe mudsliding and such throughout the bay due to the storms rolling through after years of severe drought.
Damn, that sucks. State was in a drought for so long, and once it gets better, the state just gets more issues :(
I rain hate on most LED installations but I think it's just because I can't find tasteful OEM installations, they always have to be flashy halo projector navy blue bulb bullshit
If they offered a more incan yellow on these bulbs I would have gone for it
Mild warm white or nothing.
Especially fuck the "I wish I had xenon's" blue.
I thought it was pretty weird when it started raining when I was in the bay area back in October
Shitty broken-phone pic. But I powedercoated the racecar's front subframe and transmission brace just to see how it would turn out.

Quite happy with it. Gonna do the rest of the stuff too.

Oh yeah I saw road signs saying the 1 was closed. If you're detouring through Paso Robles hit me up and we can grab lunch!

sorta fixed my tails and indicators.
indicators are good, just need to mount some front ones, not sure exactly what I wanna do for front indicators yet.
tail lights need a relay for the check panel, but I cheated the thing for this picture.
on we go to rust, I think I've found 5 holes so far, all quite simple to fix.
Sandhill cranes are big dumb birds. Just went to go to my car and two of them are standing around staring at themselfs in the chrome of my headlights.
Used my remote start to scare em off and they both just kinda trodded off more dejected then scared, like, "how rude".
:why:

They taste pretty good though, just saying.
To bad they're protected, can't even chase them personally. You can get fined or arrested.

Thats dumb. We have sandhill crane hunting where I am. No lead shot, 1 daily limit, 3 possession limit
Drove the racecar back to my shop today. Which is kinda funny because the spray-booth is like 2 metres away from my workplace. But there aren't any options for the car to pass through. So I have to roll it outside for like 900 metres on not so sturdy shitty wheels up and off the sidewalk :v:
Kinda like this

It may be ugly but the Element gave us this:

How much of the head gasket surface do I need to clean? The cylinder head was cleaned for me, but the engine block surface I had to do myself. There's still black on the engine block left from the old head gasket, but it feels really smooth and I can't tell the difference by touch between the clean surfaces and the black spots. I've completely cleaned the surfaces around the cylinders, but there's still lots of remnants in other spots, and it's taking fucking forever to get it all off.
Welp. I paid for the truck and got the transferred titled today. Off to the DMV all morning tomorrow and then pick it up to take it to my office and park it for a month until my mechanic does an inspection, fixes the speedo, and gets power steering in it. Yay.

Ideally you want it pretty fucking clean. Have you tried using a razor blade? I've had better luck using shaving razors and flooring single cut slope razors instead of box blades. I guess if your impatient you can copper spray the shit out of it.

I spray down the surface with gasket remover, wait half an hour, scrape away for 10 minutes, and then repeat. Did it 4-5 times to a few spots, got some of the gasket off but its still there mostly. I can see the original machining marks now though, just not wherever the gasket is. And what does copper spray do?

More elbow grease! I love when the gasket is forever stuck. You could use the scotch brite swirly goober method but do a lot of masking.
What does copper spray do? Magic.Seen tons of people use it but I've only used it once on a replacement head job on a LM7 which I did not surface scrape it to perfection because the block was still in the car. Didn't have a issue.... So I hope...

Have to figure out what i'm doing with the car's title too, since the guy I bought the car from didnt have the title in his name, he just signed it. That's a whole nother world of headaches I have to deal with, plus the fact that I don't really want to get a title transfer to my name cause I don't want to pay for shit like title fees and emissions and sales taxes. I'll try the copper spray thing, but that's gonna be last resort probably

well shit if you're getting rid of it give it a bottle of head gasket in a can
If you want it to be done right, spend the coin to get the head milled, otherwise if its a flip vehicle then just go at it with a straight edge and feeler guage and see how bad it is

And maybe do the head gasket in the bottle thing

If you have someone coming already, just have them follow you and limp it at low speed to the nearest service station. If it blows, call for a tow.
Never mind the battery is also dead lol
A week before i was getting it serviced it decides to die and leave me stranded 2 hours from home
[editline]25th February 2017[/editline]
I also really need to take a shit.
My situation is dire
