"I spent $70,000 on a nissan hatchback, [I]please[/I] affirm me of my excellent decision making"
That car is $70,000? You can almost buy a Jaguar F type for that price.
Half of that seems more appropriate.
Please good tell me a leef doesnt actually cost that much

You can now, they're released a 2L 4Cyl model for £49k.

What's with the shitass bumps on the sides of the hood.
And I thought the leaf was meant to be a small hatchback, judging from the person behind it, it looks huge.

I think those are false bumpers, put on to not reveal the entire shape of the car.
Also perspective might be off but I don't remember the leaf being tiny either.
[QUOTE=PyroCF;52100440]Nissan leafs were a mistake[/QUOTE]
They wouldn't be so bad if they looked like a normal car. They're so fucking ugly.

To be fair the other guy's probably standing a good ways back. For scale I'd compare it to the brick, seats and doorhandles, I'd say wheels but don't know what spec they are.
[QUOTE=F.X Clampazzo;52099757]Well from what I was reading in that guide, you can push 12v through it to the car phone jack in the arm rest, because it's able to be used to power a car-phone(? according to the guide I found at least). So I was planning to route it there for a clean implementation of USB charging instead of having to use the lighter, since that's as easy as throwing a couple LS7805's down off the 12v in parallel to prevent one chip from getting too hot/minimise loss, and then I'll have a solid 5v out for a USB set, though I should probably just build a switching reg. if I want it to be efficient or permanent, idk, it's mostly proof of concept right now and I have a [I]lot[/I] of 7805's on hand. And from there it allows me to have 12v or 5v for other projects, so long as I don't exceed the 5A of the telephone fuse. But considering I'm stepping down from 12v to 5v I should be good in terms of current draw there.

15. Microphone (+)
16. Unswitched 12 volts
17. Ground
18. Pin 5 of the RJ-45 in the armrest
19. Speaker (+)

24. Pin 6 of the RJ-45 in the armrest

This is apparently the pinout they're giving for their guide, but I was hoping to get a confirmation on it before I started my project because tracing every bit of it my self is honestly a bad use of my time if someone else already had it or Audi provided it at some point somewhere.
Hmm, I suppose I could always drop a 10A fuse in the telephone fuse slot and just put the voltage regulator in the trunk with the d25, then I could slap a fan on it as well..[/QUOTE]
Ebay switchmode modules, also see if you can somehow get access to ELSAwin, should have wiring schematics for everything VAG makes.

(The scabby cab corner will be fixed in due time!)
Today I rode my motorcycle to the store to pick up a drink for work. I'd poked 8 5/16th holes in the baffle to make it sound like it isn't a sewing machine, thereby making it a little bit safer on the highway. This had an unintentional side effect that I hadn't considered at the time. The LS650 is a 652cc single cylinder engine, which has a liking to backfiring whenever it's turned off, or just in general for that matter. Well that backfire was usually a little puff or just a bit of a muted bang. With the drilled baffle it was anything but muted.
It backfired so loudly that it not only scared me, but brought half a dozen people to the windows, trying to see who just got shot. Meanwhile I'm just sitting out there with a little grin on my face. Whoops.

70k? I dunno where you're getting your Leaf quotes from. I got a brand new top spec Leaf with all the options for £22k.

It's just weird camouflage. Here's a better picture:

It's based on this weird concept:

I imagine the finished car will look like a bigger version of the new Micra:

Musk wouldn't buy a Leaf
[QUOTE=Ldesu;52103069]Musk wouldn't buy a Leaf[/QUOTE]
The Leaf wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Tesla and why would you buy a Leaf when you have a Tesla?
[editline]14th April 2017[/editline]
The Leaf is a bit shit in comparison to other cars in it's price range I'll admit. But it's a start for affordable EVs and Nissan are giving it a redesign to make it less goofy so that's something. The new model will probably also be 200+ mile range and hopefully a lot nippier.
So while the current Leaf might suck I support it based on what it will become and applaud Nissan for trying. Nissan are doing more than most manufacturers. The current gen Leaf will be dead at the end of the year.
you know tesla didn't make the first electric car, right?
[editline]14th April 2017[/editline]
wasn't even the first commercially viable electric vehicle, that title goes to the chrystler tevan
e: and thats if you don't count the early electric vehicles up until the 1920s from when even gas cars were crap

Of course not. EVs have been around since the 1800s. Tesla did break the perception that EVs are limited to being golf carts and milk floats.
wasn't the first commercially successful one either, even post revival. that goes to the GM EV1
[editline]14th April 2017[/editline]
what the fuck is a milk float
[editline]14th April 2017[/editline]
the gm ev1 did a pretty good job shattering the golf cart perception
The GM ev1 was great. Until GM recalled them and crushed them all. No one knew what they was outside of the small EV fan circle.
[editline]14th April 2017[/editline]
It was also slow as balls. The roadster was the first one to really show what EVs can do.
that's just down to big oil being evil and gm being in their pocket. if you believe the conspiracy theorists anyway.
I was aware of them back then, and I've never been an EV nerd
[editline]14th April 2017[/editline]
it wasn't slow as balls, it was slow as every other 90's car. you gotta piss with the cock you got and when that cock is 1997 nothing quick is gonna come out of it
[editline]14th April 2017[/editline]
and shit a tesla roadster is slow as balls too
