I don't know about that maaaan, we are all quite weird. I guess I will bump that up to functioning autistics. A 20-30k$ car is highly affordible with 0% interest, but it seems like a lot of us DON'T want to finance a vehicle, plus we love beaters.
That is one busy set of drawings, I think I would personally struggle to work for them (but hey I'm not an experienced machinist and if you put that out where I work you'd be shot because apparently presentation is important), you havent put any tolerances on anything, even if you dont intend to you should probably slap a default one on the sheet (make it reasonable!) and a dimension on the bottom left view is difficult to read (dimensions "within" the outline of the object are usually to be avoided)
Now this is what i needed to hear. Thanks.
My working universal tolerance is 1/32" for all but the seat surfaces, which i neglected to put in the table. The seats, however do have to be as exact as is possible. At 750 PSI 1/8 Sq. In. is a 93 pound force difference that the cam and valve spring has to deal with. What's the tightest possible tolerances that would be considered reasonable?
As for the rest I'll just move up a sheet size and space everything out a little freer.
Leave it alone, autocross it in F stock/street class, and focus on the motorcycles now that I have a car that doesn't need my mechanical intervention in order to function reliably. It does need a tune though, runs oddly rich.

are u just going off the dash AFR readout?? compared with my datalogger it consistently reads a few tenths low and its slowww to respond. like on idle itll read 14 - 14.3 AFR but really it'll be at 14.7 - 15.
its cool to have and it gives a general sense of what its doing but i wouldn't put too much faith into it.
I was datalogging with my scanner software and laptop after seeing strange things going on on the dash display. high 10s-low 11s during 4th gear pulls.

I know it's a kit but I need this in my life.
I wonder if it's possible to do a period correct lookin' areo kit to make actual downforce. Throw in a jaguar IRS, crate motor swap, serious suspension etc. Imagine if this sort of thing was actually fast.
I got followed to my destination by a roadrager today, It's a shame I was running errands or I would've seen how far she wanted to drive as I had a full tank of gas.
I said she should be quicker to decide at a 4 way stop, and said bye, rolling up the window while she basically went "reeeee". Then she floored it out of the parking lot.

Manual? Think again! The only way to do an automatic floor shifter in a truck!
Running a reverse manual valve body, cant wait to bang gears in this thing.
That middle piece attatched to the pistol grip took me all god damn day to make. 7 revisions before I made something that looked good and bolted on.
You bought a kit right? I'm wondering if some one could make me a RMVB to replace the electronic shit in the 41TE trans. The autostick in my PT GT is pretty close but not the same. The 41TE going in the Daytona won't have autostick and I really can't do any hardcore performance stuff unless I swap the PCM, but then the trans wont work, need to figure out how to manually shift it either electronically or mechanically... Or find the super rare 2.7L trans.
Also, speaking of Mopars. How many of us are in here? It seems we've been getting more and more lately. Between Valon, Serj, and I, we've got the Mopar market cornered in here.
if you don't mind me asking, what's the abs delete for?
A fair amount of reasons
1. It never really worked all too much to begin with
2. The front axle was swapped to a ford kingpin from 1989 (no abs sensors)
3. The front brakes are getting swapped to SRT10 Brembos later on
4. The abs module is one big ugly motherfucker under the hood
It is handy to have, but the stock implementation isnt very good at all

No, I wish I could haha! The old 727s you could get a kit to do it, but the truck 48re only one company figured out how to make it a reverse manual valvebody and they charge $1800 for the valvebody because of it :/
I managed to snag the valvebody used for $800 thank god.
Is the 41TE based up any other popular auto trans? You could perhaps reverse engineer a valvebody for it?
The transmissions do not have a valve body, technically, since the solenoids control the flow of transmission fluid directly.
The adaptive control system sensed input and output speed changes as shifts occurred, and adjusted hydraulic pressure accordingly, to make smoother shifts and make the power train feel responsive without harshness
Well shit, this is from Allpar. If you could find a way to manipulate whichever solenoid or sensor that controls shift firmness then thats a start. Its a hydraulic trans, so it doesn't need the computer to run in theory, its just a matter of manipulating the solenoids.

I think for mopar people, theres the guy with the red dart sport, police dodge charger guy, Mr. hellcat, and maybe one more
Well, Ive said it a few times and Ill say it again, any test drive where you break something is a successful test drive.
Last night I got the throttle cable about 90% sorted out on the dune buggy (the vise grips are part of it), and rebuilt the brakes. New shoes, wheels cylinders, and brake lines. One of the springs was missing a clip, but no biggie, zipties work.
[t]https://i.imgur.com/3621M5f.jpg[/t]
I got the brakes about as bled as I could with one person (two pumps to stop), and at this point I knew I shouldnt take it for a drive, because its 12:30, its gonna wake people up, theres no headlight or taillight, ect. But what kind of dune buggy owner would I be if I didnt throw caution to the wind and go for a spin? So I ziptied my work light to the frame, and set off. It became very evident that my ghetto carb setup needs some tuning. Step on the throttle, BOOGGG, and eventually itll go. Anyways, about 2 miles up the highway, I stopped in someones driveway to turn around, and when I tried to shift into reverse, I was met with nothing but a floppy clutch pedal and an ear piercing RRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEE. I inspected the damage, and the clutch cable was still intact, but the lever on the transmission was flopping around freely with no tension. I figure I lost the throwout bearing or something. Anyways, with no better options available, I pushed it to the top of the next hill, got a running start, and hopped in. It didnt want to slam into second, so I settled for third. It chugged on the brink of death for about 5 seconds, despite me feathering the throttle and praying intently, and eventually it caught and blubbered up to speed. With the unresponsive throttle, it was a little tricky to slam into second, then first on the way home, but I made it, killing it with the front end halfway under my tent.

Well, funny you should mention the solenoid thing. So... I found a Sandrail using a Chrysler 3.3 with HX35 turbo and running the 41TE cousin trans the 42LE, it's the same internals and programming, but it's mounted a different way.
So I go and look for this dude after looking at his build on Car Domain and PhotoBucket for a while. Long story short, I found him simply because he's on the sex offenders list for forcing himself on a 13 year old girl. Found that by searching his username, finding him on a Cummins forum which had his Facebook listed, then I Googled his name just to see what else comes up.
Talked to him and he said he swapped out the rods and pistons for Grand National 3.8L pistons and 3.8L Thunderbird turbo pistons. So.. That's cool. But for the transmission he's got wires directly connected to the shift solenoids and just flicks switches to shift the trans.
That seems like you'd blow the clutches out doing that, but whatever. In theory I could hookup a shifter with gates that trigger shifts then put the lockup on the shifter itself like truck drivers shifting from low to high.
Google fu master

I almost got shot by a road rager once. Guy in a big ol' ford was going like 50 in a 30 and I merged about a block from him out of a parking lot and I was going 30 on the dot far before he caught up to me, because I knew there was a cop a few blocks up hiding and scanning for speeders, so why speed? I could have waited for his stupid ass to pass me but I had a very reasonable window to merge. He honked at me as he came riding up on my ass, slamming his brakes, and shit, classic stuff.
Then he followed me to a Taco Bell parking lot(because why the fuck would I continue going home with this guy following me?) and he blocks me in, gets out of his truck and starts yelling at me. This is where it gets good though, because then I just kinda look at him like he's retarded and he gets back in his truck and pulls a gun from his glove compartment. At this point I'd already dialed 911 while he was following me so the second I saw him reaching over for his glove box I mentioned it to the operator, because concealing a firearm in the car is a felony here regardless of your concealed carry status.
After a good like 30 seconds of having a gun threateningly pointed at me and some guy yelling, four police cars roll up and the guy got arrested. Still no idea what the fuck he was so mad about either, I saved him from getting an insane speeding ticket.
Road rage is a felony here, concealing a gun in a vehicle is a felony, pretty sure threatening someone with a gun is at the very least frowned upon.
You're lucky you live in a sensible country.
Hey quick question guys. I just got a 2014 Ford STX 4X4. I really do love the truck and was thinking about maybe getting some sort of brush guard for it. But being honest with myself I don't think I have any practical use for it. I hardly take it off road and mainly use it for commuting to work. They are pretty expensive too.
Basically what I am asking is there any practical use for a brush guard other than off road purposes? I am leaning towards just getting a bull bar if I do get one. I have heard these protect against minor collisions but also that they can damage the frame of your truck if you do actually collide with something.
Here is what I was aiming for

They can mount to the frame and protect the front end I guess. It's also common to mount auxiliary lights to the kind that you're looking at but other than that they're only for looks.

@Morgen
I'm pretty sure the format wars are far from over.
Honda is still on board with Hydrogen fuel cells, and is releasing a "Clarity" with a 366 mile range. Also it refuels in about 5 minutes. More range and quicker fueling than any Tesla, that will win over a percentage of people undoubtedly.
Also costs about as much as your Leaf.
The debate remains though, is it at all practical to change infrastructure to hydrogen. There is still a whole lot of pessimism, but one company called True Zero has at least managed to install pumps at over 20 California gas stations. It sounds like in small scale it is showing potential.
I only bring this shit up because despite being a lover of all things combustion, I don't ignore the fact car tech is changing and how and what we use for energy to get the wheels moving is a big factor in how things change.
I still haven't seen or heard of any other immediately available alternative s to gas/diesel in a ICE, other than corn alcohol. But that's really only good for power; lower MPG and only slightly lower emissions. Sure, corn is probably a lot more "renewable" than oil, but it's not ideal by any means. Would cost me around $1k to convert my Miata to alcohol, and then I still would have to wait until the stations around here made the fuel available (they won't, and that's ok so far to me). One illegal alternative is hemp oil, although that still probably requires some tuning too. But it's very viable, and keeps ICE alive. Just have to get it fully legalized. Hell, hemp makes a stronger and lighter body panel than fiberglass.
EDIT: Oh, and now Toyota is testing a big rig hydrogen truck. I guess it does 60 in 10s. Also has a range over 200miles.
Hydrogen is dumb because if you count the energy it takes to produce it with hydrolysis, you might as well just drive a gasoline car and not have to worry about the special snowflake infrastructure.
Corn alcohol is dumb because even with cars built to run on it, even in its current demand with all the corn subsidies and shit, it really fucks over corn farmers. Sustainable, yes. Efficient on a large scale, hell no.
Even with all the problems of EV infrastructure, its the most developed and practical alternative to gasoline so far.
..except if you count biodiesel or other alt-diesels. With most diesel engines, it just takes some new seals, a tune, some extra filters, and maybe a tank heater to make it run on anything from corn oil, animal fat, or post fast food fryer schmoo to waste motor oil, transmission fluid, candle wax, or even magical shit made from algae. Sure, this takes production, but a lot of the materials have already been processed and used for other purposes, so i see it more as a recycling process than feom-scratch fuel production.
[editline]19th April 2017[/editline]
And, you know, gas vapor or woodgas, but we dont talk about that.
I am surprised there have been no modern takes on the steam car. Jay Leno's video on the 1920s Doble makes it sound like it was pretty practical then, so the tech could probably be modernized. Then again you'd probably be using electricity to make the steam in the first place so maybe it's just a pointless extra step.
Great lookin cars though.

Mmmm
hydrogen is rad and its easy enough to make hydrogen on the fly with just a water source and some electrodes.
I imagine refueling a hydrogen car is probably just putting electrolyte water in it. I wouldn't think they'd be storing hydrogen gas.

And on the hydrogen point, it still takes buttloads of energy to separate enough of it to run a car, theres no practical way do do it in a car on the fly without having so many batteries on board that youre back to the EV problem.

With hydrogen vehicles they use hydrogen gas, creating hydrogen takes a crapton of power (and as of now most of it comes from oil anyways) so converting it in the vehicle would be absolutely pointless.
I have no doubt that gas vapor works in theory and in some specific circumstances but its not gonna ever happen in a full scale production vehicle and even in one-offs its iffy at best.
you have problems with fuel sloshing, nvh, safety, reliability, and all sorts of other shit
