Just saw something weird on the highway. I swear it was a late sixties El Camino with a 442 front clip and Pontiac badging. Wtf??
I saw an older Land Rover with only its British plates on it, was weird.
Some people just don't know when to give up part of their empire.
Today I discovered a new fad that manufacturers are doing: Having big ass fucking brakelights, and then putting the turn signal on the bumper. What the fuck? this is an eyesore AND restricts visability. Fucking cancer. Here's an example: Those little lights on the bumpers are the turn signals. Kia has a cancerwagon with the same thing. Fucking MONSTER tail lights but little bitty turn signals on the bumper. What the fuck.
In California I've seen literally hundreds of BMWs and other German cars with EU plates underneath the US ones. It just seems like when people import their cars they keep the plates and that's it.
Cars in NC keep them on the front all the time (they only require back tags in NC, PA, MD, and WV around us in VA). But honestly, I agree. EU cars should be able to keep EU style plates. It kind of is ridiculous how we can have 50 different rules on cars and requirements, but how dare we accept someone else's.
Locked my keys in my truck today, and on that note I'm curious what do you guys do in that event? If I'm out of town, I go to a dealership and get a key cut off the vin. If I'm close to home, I have a family member drive me my spare key. If I have no spare key, then it's AMA or some assortment of prybars and TIG rod

Had my grandfather drive me the key. Since then I carried a spare in my shoe.

I'm not sure what the Canadian equivalent is.

It's free, but it gets logged as a claim, although with no penalties or anything of the sort. So it doubles as AAA. Only happened to me twice and the second time was because of my roommate.

Or use the spare key thats always around. [editline]24th April 2017[/editline] New MOOG parts went in like butter. Everything went perfectly. It just sucks that I now know that my alignment is f'd from the old joints going bad. Hopefully I can find a shop to do it Wednesday and not keep the vehicle for over a day.
Dealer near me has a pretty nice looking '94 Corvette for 10 grand. Car has 70000 miles, looks really clean. The dealer has good reviews online and I really like the car. Here's the listing: https://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/ctd/6096638281.html Other than "don't", any advice for these Vettes? I'm mostly concerned about insurance and tires. I honestly don't even care that it's an auto, I want a good cruiser.

It's also GM, so a universe of aftermarket shit you can do to it if you choose.
It'll be at least until after I move before I can seriously look at buying this car but hopefully they still have it or I can find another. I'm also looking at 80s Firebirds and Camaros, but I think the Vette would be the best cruiser. I was rolling around listening to 80s on 8 today and the impulse hit me to pick one of these cars up. It's all I want right now.
I dunno what you do for a living, but when I looked up insurance rates on progressive for myself for one around the same year is what killed it for me. think you're around the same age as me iirc (~22) and I don't know your driving record, but it's unsurprisingly, and unfortunately, still really high regardless, even with my spotless record. :/
It looks like full coverage with my current provider would actually be about the same or less than what I'm currently paying for liability on my Eclipse. :v:
who broke my OP, FESS UP

i have a key hidden under my bed rails inside the bed its self. But that's irrelevant because any gm key can start my truck.
I'm just lazy, and keep my spare keys in my desk. Also. I can start my truck with a screw driver and a toothpick... so it's not like I'm going to have that many issues there with 80s tech.

My dad keeps a key on his vehicle behind the rear bumper. The key can unlock the door, but isn't programmed so it can't start the vehicle.

Look into an SS Camaro with the LS1 from 98-2002 I think, much better driveline and they hold their value better/are decently in demand. Not to really try to steer you away from corvettes, they're just a bad investment (or at least that one is). I see it as difficult to get 10k out of it, I wouldn't see much risk at $7500 but you'd just have to find a buyer who wants a LT1 SBC corvette with an auto in a not too popular color (I love the green though, but everyone wants red or yellow)

I love the c4, but don't think I'd ever buy one. Maybe the zr1, money no object.
i have a key hidden under my bed rails inside the bed its self. But that's irrelevant because any gm key can start my truck.
Sounds just like any early 90's and back VW. The locks are only from keeping honest people out on those
how in the fuck... I was trying to push out old bushings When I broke the fucking bench screw... [editline]25th April 2017[/editline] Wasn't even using a long rod, it was like 40cm
Damn fine bushings I guess.
it wasn't the murphy walker W30 el camino was it?
Googled it and yeah that's exactly it. What a car! Not Pontiac badges after all but I only got a glance at it on the highway. I think the C4 is starting to become more appreciated instead of the redheaded stepchild of the Corvette family that it's been for a while, so maybe by the time I'm done with it it'll be worth something... but even if it's not it's gotta be worth more than what I've got :v: I was thinking about ultimately blacking it out... I don't mind the green but boy do these cars ever look sinister in black.
Hey guys I'm new to the car scene, I would like to buy a cheapish car to mess around with and learn on. I would like to get a v6 and wanted to know if you guys had any suggestions on what would be good. I currently live in a large city in the U.S. so I would have to wait till I move to a more suburban area so it is safer for me to work on a car (working on a car in the streets of philly doesn't seem like a good time). Thanks in advance for your insights
