I found really obscure forum post about how the aerosol cans of the dip have some additional chemicals that make it more sprayable, and that there is a very minute chance it can damage certain kinds of paint, but that the gallons of dip that you buy and would use an alternative spraying method shouldn't have that issue so that's probably what I'd try. I'd probably test some of the aerosol cans on my rims though, the ones I just got on this new car were scratched all to hell so painting them all black should help cover that up
I said it once before, both will damage your paint. Now it's a very small chance but has happened on more than one occasion. Wrapping seems safer.
I've seen some of those too, the one I read had some chemicals mixed up though with similarly named more harmful ones. I wouldn't worry about it tbh. The only thing to be aware of (and Fonzie from Dipyourcar states this) is if your paint has any of the following: chips, thinner paint/clear coat areas (think about areas where paint is thinner like under hood vents, etc), rust, clear coat peeling and any other things like that, then you could end up peeling some of it off when you got to remove the Dip. I've dipped the hood on my SLK230 and I kept it one for months and it was fine, but I used ProtectDip so idk.
I have found some very small (less than a mm) rock chips throughout the car's paint, would I be better off trying to fill those in with something before I dipped it? can anyone recommend some paint chip repair methods?
I'm thinking about going to look at a 2015 GTI SE (2 Door) with 41k miles for $16k http://www.keatinghonda.com/inventory/used-2015-volkswagen-golf-gti-se-fwd-hatchback-3vwyt7auxfm068314 www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory/p/Report.cfx?partner=BDW_3&vin=3VWYT7AUXFM068314 Any opinions? Orrrrrr, I could take the money and put it into the Miata and eventually go Turbo?
:tinfoil: I thought you lived in oklahoma. Anywho the only fishy thing I see is it didn't get its 40k service done. Probably because its at a Honda dealership not a VW dealership....
https://slo.craigslist.org/rvs/6106951480.html Rate my Craigslist ad please.
I get that you dont want to neglect to mention a problem, but you should still condense the cons and ugly parts to about 1/3-1/4 their current volume. You can show them all the bad parts when they come look at it, but most of the cons you listed are par for the course for any camper that old.

My dad bought me a timing belt tool kit for the Porsche! Maybe now I can try starting it without being afraid of smashing valves into pistons.
I'm amazed you've made so much progress on that car already. How's it looking? I don't think I've seen any pictures.

Mostly just changing fluids and patching wires. This will be my first big job. I've posted this pic before but the car hasn't changed visually at all since taking it.
Ldesu how did that license thing go
I don't know really I sent in a complaint and the whole case will be reviewed by another judge and I was gonna get an answer "as soon as possible" but nothing happened yet. I called in and they said it's not enforced until I get an answer on my complaint. I'm not gonna call in again to ask when they're gonna be done...
So when's the next DAKAR?
I want so bad to put a shitty DIY lift on this car in order to make it into a cheap and cheerful dune buggy. I really like how it looks with the wheels down this low.
Nope, good ol' Texas
I will see you one day. Just like generic. I will lure you in with a free car and cookies.
So, weird question. On the Yota, I've noticed now that it's getting warmer that if I tend to restart the truck while the engine is warm (such as doing grocery runs or getting dinner to go, or something quick like such), it has a hard time starting and tends to idle rough until I run the in gear for a few seconds once I get it started. Cold starts are fine beyond stalling if I don't rev it for the first second or two. And when it's warm, you can clearly tell it's running rich for the first few minutes until it gets going again. Does this seem like an issue, or just a run of the mill 1980s carb being a pain in the ass and I'm not used to it?
Sounds like the automatic choke. Give a good rev and see if it idles better afterward.
It was an amazing day and I was bored so I took the car out to a nearby mountain road: [t]http://i.imgur.com/Z87rT3O.jpg[/t] and nothing fancy but here's some dashcam vid of the conditions; the blue sky was beautiful:

buggy update I got a bunch of LED lights [t]https://i.imgur.com/0m5DGhR.jpg[/t] I got a custom dash from the P.O. installed and wired [t]https://i.imgur.com/CTvZB5J.jpg[/t] [t]https://i.imgur.com/UVS306h.jpg[/t] When I was at the junkyard looking for parts I found a camper vanagon, and was practically in love. If it wasnt total garbage I would have wanted it. Anyhoo I got its shift knob and oil filler cap. [t]https://i.imgur.com/vBDt8AY.jpg[/t] I also went digging around my shed and found my old dual carbs [t]https://i.imgur.com/CyvCB4t.jpg[/t] This is gonna be sweet. Didnt someone here set up a pair of these carbs a while ago?

For those of you who have project cars, how close do you live near them? mines quite far away, like 30 minutes in traffic.
Sounds like the automatic choke. Give a good rev and see if it idles better afterward.
Sometimes it does. But the issue's not so much the rough idle, but the fact that some days it gets so flooded that it'll take a good 30 seconds to a minute of cranking to starter to finally restart it with my foot blipping the shit out of my throttle to get it to finally engage. [editline]30th April 2017[/editline]
check your plugs, leads, dizzy cap and choke
Plugs, leads, and dist. cap were all replaced less than ten thousand miles ago; but I'll check them to be safe. To my knowledge the choke has never been messed with. At least I can't find any reports in the maintenance log for it being repaired.
