ford calls for 148 ft lbs with the lug nuts on the newer mustangs.. seems high but ive taken the wheels on and off a few times and the studs, nuts, and the wheels all look alright.
On the s550? Shit, I've been driving around for a month, and did an autocross with them torqued to 80 ftlbs.
Boy do I have some potentially good news for you: [t]http://i.imgur.com/PG4g4jy.jpg[/t] I have this motor from an old Peugeot 106 lying around.
I'd heard Peugeots were underpowered, but come on. :v:
I'd heard Peugeots were underpowered, but come on. :v:
To be honest, the motors for the windows would probably output more power than the engine :v:
Ain't no replacement for displacement
I unironically like window knobs as opposed to buttons because I can't forget to roll it up after shutting the car off. Same with sunroof knobs, less likely to break.
A socket for your lug size in 1/2in drive and a breaker bar and a ratcheting torque wrench.
I will fucking kill you if I see you breaking bolts lose with a fucking torque wrench. The shop called today. Transmission should be here Friday. The Car goes in Monday for the swap.
I've been checking with my dad why our Peugeot 406's passenger window won't open or close, and we came to the conclusion that one of the brushes of the motor are gone. Would you guys know where I can order just a new motor? I've been looking on eBay and all I found there were entire pulley assemblies while the entire window doesn't work because of one single missing part. [T]http://i.imgur.com/cvZEuzM.jpg[/T]
I had a similar problem with a snowblower two years ago. I ended up buying generic carbon brushes from china with dimensions pretty damn close to the original brushes.

Fite me!
I use a torque wrench to keep both my nuts loose.
I loosen the castle nut on my AR using a torque wrench. Fite me!
I hope you have a peice of shit one and don't care about it staying accurate.
Rebuilt the secondary air pump for my a6 today. Was pretty easy tbh, just cleaned the fuck out of it and swapped in some nice, new bearings. No more squeak on cold days. Also had to find power steering fluid for it since I was a tad low, fucking NAPA of all places had probably the only can in the state and I'm pretty sure it was more dust than can. Good day over all.
I always tighten my lug nuts to spec, no point going hulk on them. If you work on your car yourself you should have a torque wrench anyways
people actually follow torque specs for lug nuts? I just crank down with a socket on a half inch drive until they won't get any tighter like even race teams dont follow any torque specs for lugs [editline]3rd May 2017[/editline] I own a torque wrench and everything but I really only break it out for engine assembly and even then usually just for bearing caps mostly
people actually follow torque specs for lug nuts? Has happened a handful of times at work.
I refuse work on seriously neglected cars. too much to go wrong
On the s550? Shit, I've been driving around for a month, and did an autocross with them torqued to 80 ftlbs.
yea the s550.. i thought it was odd too but all late model muscle cars seem to have torques from 130-150 ft lbs. apparently something to do regarding the 14x1.5 studs although i cant really elaborate on that. just something i've heard. tons of forum posts about the spec.
What. If you live paycheck to paycheck and couldn't afford to spend 90 dollars yesterday, you need to buy a breaker bar so you can fix this yourself. What's going to happen next time you get a flat and it turns out someone tightened the lug nuts?
i'm not living paycheck to paycheck, i was just short on cash last week from bills. i don't usually spend all the money i have but every now and then shit comes up that cost more than the money i have saved up. [editline]3rd May 2017[/editline] like last time this happened i bought 4 new tyres (not because i had a flat, just because i needed new tyres, mine were bald) and didn't break my bank.

Ain't them supposed to go backwards and forwards? 110 ft/lbs 4lyfe yo
What about a ratcheting torque wrench? Ain't them supposed to go backwards and forwards? 110 ft/lbs 4lyfe yo
Sure you can go backwards, but the sudden unload of the bolt losing up will do science to the very precise equipment. Look at all the user manuals like snap on, mag, Cronwell, craftsman. ALL tell you don't do that as it will damage the accuracy of the wrench.
What about a ratcheting torque wrench? Ain't them supposed to go backwards and forwards? 110 ft/lbs 4lyfe yo
that's for wrong hand threads, like on a briggs crank or rolls royce lugs. not for undoing bolts

yeah but you cant use your foot to tighten it with a torque wrench. feet aren't precision instruments
How much would you want for it along with shipping?
If you covered shipping, I'd give it to ya for free. Though I've just tried to see if its still working, and it seems to struggle a little, but I can't tell if its the motor or my weakass power supply. It did work about a year ago when I last checked it, but that was on a housemates bench power supply so power wasn't an issue. Could also do with a clean and some fresh lube on it. You may also have it combine it with parts from your old one with regards to case etc. But I don't need it so you can have it to at least try it :)

But That one only has heads for ER16 and ER32 tool holder collets. That one is designed to go backwards, I wouldn't do that with my matco torque wrenches though... Breaker bars are cheap, calibrating torque wrenches is annoying.
Good thing I only used a couple times to undo some lugs. I normally just use my 3ft breaker bar to bust shit loose.
Idk racing teams can do what they like all I know is I tighten my wheels to spec cause it takes the same amount of time as using another regular half incher, I just grab the torque wrench instead.
Most racing cars use like special thread thingy's. Not sure how to explain in english, but basically you just put in a piece of bolt thread into the hub. Like these : And then use these to tighten the wheels. We torque them to spec of the specific thread/nut. I personally check them every single time I step into the car. So on a normal day of racing like 10 times. [editline]3rd May 2017[/editline] As for the rest, i just use the advice I read somewhere on FP. I tighten everything just hard enough to piss me off the next time I need to unscrew it.
Wheel studs?
I just use my impact until it ratchets like 10 times. Just to make sure it's not coming off.

I managed to get it to spin again by putting power on the spring instead which now acts as a brush, though it won't last long. For some reason it still won't work in the car either as it only goes one direction using the passenger switch, and it won't do anything using the driver side controls. We've checked both switches using a multimeter and it does give off the right voltages at least.
