if a cop wanted to be a dick about it modifying a plate is destruction of state property.

there's always something they can get you for
So, I'm cooking up some plan to get 300bhp out of my N/A M54B30 engine.
I'm just not sure if it's such a good idea :v:

Roughly how big is this engine again? And how much HP and tq? It's been awhile, very interesting!
after doing some research, it appears that license plate display laws are on a state-by-state basis, and the only reference to it i can find for KY (my state) is this
http://www.lrc.ky.gov/statutes/statute.aspx?id=5970
it seems like it could be considered legal, but if a cop really wanted to give you a ticket for it, they probably could unless you wanted to go to court to fight it
I'd say putting reflective tape over your plate, especially if your state uses automatic traffic cameras (or toll booths) as it can mess with the cameras and make your plate unreadable.
I thought plates were semi-reflective already, at least in CA. That's why I see assholes with plates that look like they've been scraped of most of their paint so that traffic cameras don't see them.
I have seen sin.
I have no pics cause I was alone driving, but I saw a gold plated PT Cruiser on the road the other day.

iirc most plates are semi-reflective to make them easier to see on speed cameras since they have flashes
and yeah that's what i mean by plate sanding. it's fucking stupid
Here in glorious sd we have declared stoplight cameras and speed cameras intrusive and dumb, and have been rid of them for years.

It's not just for cameras.
License plates, just like highway signage, are retroreflective. It's a certain reflectivity that will allow the entire thing to illuminate bright regardless of light source intensity, meaning it takes very little light for it to be completely visible. It's there so that it's easier to read someone's license plate in the dark so you can report them, or so that cops can see that it's correct, regardless of light condition.
I zip around everywhere at like 60, haven't been dinged by a speed camera yet. Got used to where the cops wait at so I slow down around those spots, but I usually speed everywhere else in an attempt to get away from everyone else on the road.
We have cameras at stoplights, but I dunno if VA even uses them for that.
What the actual fuck
I'm getting a 10k nok fine and 6 months driving ban for having my accident in november.
That seems absolutely insane
That'll teach you for trying to drive in the winter

The only adjustment I've made for Georgia is that I DARE NOT go 20+ over the speed limit because of superspeeder laws here (directly to jail).
But in all honesty, I usually just go with traffic speed since I got this F-150. Traffic is faster in some places than others.
1100 USD for having an accident months ago? WTF?

What
How? Like a gov't fine, right? Why?
[t]https://puu.sh/umyZL.png[/t]
Fuck me
So you're basically being fined for driving too fast for the conditions.
This is something I've wondered about for a while actually, if you have a moving crash of any kind, couldn't you be charged with that law? Since you were driving too fast or recklessly to avoid the crash (even if some moron came flying out from some side street)
We do it all the time in the states. Also tagging people who rear-end others with following too closely
I rear ended a Volvo SUV when I looked over my shoulder trying to get over and an old lady pulled out in front of TWO lanes of oncoming traffic at the exact same time.

Think that's bad?
Arizona's super speeder laws mean you automatically forfeit your car in AZ for 20+ over.
Or it's an automatic impound. I can't remember. Don't kill me.

Thing is though that I saw the road was wet and that the temperature was low so I tested the surface by braking, also felt absolutely nothing in the turns but while driving consistently at compeltely reasonable speed within the limit, I suddenly lost all steering mid-turn. So I wouldn't say I drove "too fast for the conditions", I checked the conditions which were fine but then hit a patch of black ice.
Bought all the parts I needed from Rock auto.. after shipping the total came to $10 more than a single part would have been at the store

It's absolutely nonsensical to me that someone is issued a driving ban for a property damage only crash. I can understand a fine if city property is damaged, it needs to get repaired somehow, but a driving ban here is a de facto way to get someone unemployed and homeless real quick.
Was there injuries or something? I wasn't around for the post about the wreck I don't think.

I broke my back. There was literally nobody else around
Well, for starters, hope beyond all you're making or have made a recovery. Your health is foremost!
Beyond that, I can't comment because I don't know foreign/Norwegian culture well enough to tell you if it made sense in context. From my US eyes, I still think it's ridiculous you got banned given you weren't liable for another's injuries, but things might be different there.
Is healthcare subsidized by the government up there?
Healthcare is free in emergencies which this pretty much was I guess.

Hey, does anyone know about Delphi Car software? If you do, could you please PM me. Sort of trying to figure out how to get VCI drivers working and I'm at my wits end here.
With the $1,000 your gonna make, you wanna go ahead and buy me a work truck and ship it to me for like $0? Youll be making money because its like business. You can also ship me a truck and $500 if you want to make even more money. Wow! I know.
I have a shitty old ford I'd trailer down if you really need a work truck? Just pay for diesel and the U haul and its yours. Running and driving with a 302 :)

In the UK with our many single track country roads with high hedgerows, you're expected to drive at the speed where you can react and stop in time if a hazard suddenly presented itself, such as an oncoming driver (they have to do the same) or an animal ect. That's pretty much how it's officially worded. It's ambiguous, but you can't not be ambiguous with that scenario. If you have a dashcam or witnesses, they will be used to deem whether or not you were driving fit for the conditions.
