So mom was complaining about the AC barely functioning and she also heard a ton of hissing come from the evaporation coil. Would this be a good indication to get the system recharged at a local garage? It isn't exactly promising that it was working just fine last Sunday, and it now suddenly makes this noise along with barely working. I've quickly checked the compressor itself but nothing was off at least.

Sounds to me like your expansion valve is shitting out. Mine made that same noise when it failed. If you end up changing it out your going to have to get another reciver/dryer and possibly orriface tube. If you find garbage debree in any of the lines or hoses its gonna all need replaced. ALL OF IT. Or you'll just end up spending more actually replacing all of it when it fails again a short time later.
But if it just needs a shot of freeon you'll be ok.
I still do this tbh. My car is long and my front overhang is longer and I get scared of hitting people.
I do this in my accord simply because the track geometry kinda puts the side of the car closer over then what i want, not looking to clip a bumper.

Finally plugged the holes and cables in my roof.
Now to finally find 12 volts to put on pin 1 and 2
[t]https://puu.sh/vTd6S/d324f68c41.png[/t]
For some rasin pins 4 and 5 output 12v but it doesn't like those.
Whatever shop installed the equipment on that car did a really shitty job of it.
I see no reason why any patrol car would need that many holes on the roof.
I can't even think of the equipment that would need that many holes

Pretty sure they had one of these.
A fucking sign board? What joke of department did this come from. I need to know.
Reminds me of the sheriffs on Long Island with the fold-up U lightbars. It's neat but not completely necessary.
Does anyone know how to get a hold of the Denso HDD 2.1 software for the Jaguar XF?
Seen people selling USB's on ebay for around £100 and apparently you need to activate the VIN for £15 on top of that...
Bit much for a map upgrade if you ask me, anyone got any experience with this I could use the help?
All else fails I am off to the local garage and see if they will do it for a quick 50

Afaik older jaguars require a disc that stays in the car for the maps. It did in my XK anyways.

The one I am needing is the HDD 2.1 for the remodelled 2011 series XF, was registered in 1998 but from what I have read I need the stick instead of the DVD because of the Denso software I have with it, and because I have a USB slot on my satnav. Currently using the 2011/2012 maps but am needing the 2017 due to the amount of new laybys and other roads constructed up here in Scotland.
Travelling to Aberdeen 1/3rd of the year needs these new maps
You may be able to buy it from your Jag dealer's parts department on a usb drive.
Ready to buy my first car. Looking at a 1999 Honda Civic for $5,000. 73,000 miles with only one previous owner and no reported accidents. I don't know anything about cars but I've heard Civics and Accords are known for their reliability and abundance of available parts. Looks like it was kept in amazing condition too. Could I do better with a $5,000 budget? Just looking for a car that will be easy to maintain and will last me until I finish college and get a better job.
They're also known for eating you alive on insurance cost as their loss rates are astronomical.
Anyway, just spent $964 on new parts for my two old perpetually broken Benzes. The S-Class is getting a timing chain with guides, and a new genuine tensioner ($340 part), as well as guide rod mounts and new front brake stuffs, and the 190E is getting some exhaust work and motor mounts.
Picked up the S3 today, here's some pictures.
My 2000 Jetta next to the S3. Just got the Jetta all fixed up, family is keeping it, only has 89,000 miles. Still a great little car, I'll actually miss it a bit.

Thanks! Audi calls it nano grey. I like it because it's pretty subtle, while being unique. This car has been several years in the making.
Hands down my favorite thing about wrenching on cars in the driveway is being approached by every asshole with a clipboard wanting a 'few seconds of my time'.
I'm shoulder deep in the engine bay trying to get a bolt that requires 3 separate extensions, do I look like I have a second?
Ive never had that problem

I've been there, Normally I just tell them I'm too busy and they can't have any time.
If they persist, I just light up a cig and stare blankly like I'm crazy and they end up just leaving.

My day is gonna be fun. Starting off with a 92 sonoma that needs brakes and later a 2000 civic that has a headgasket issue.
Gonna bluedevil that one because the guy is too broke to pay for replacing the gasket, besides, it's a rather small leak.
I've been sensible and acquired a 3rd gen Golf Combi - a car that's quiet, slow, boring, comfortable and that has heaps of space. Enough for me to actually fit in! Being 190cm I didn't really fit in my old one - the new one I can actually sleep in when the seats are folded.
Loving it so far!
So goodbye Sunny, you'll soon be sold

Wait a fucking second. I thought all a3's were avants. When did the new ones change into sedans!?!?!?

I think it's a thing new for the current/last gen. Plus the S and RS models tend to lean towards being sedans and coupes, while they still do make avant versions.

I bought an 07 Yamaha vitorigoigoigero or something like that today. 250cc vtwin of fury. 1500 dollars and I financed that fucker cuz I'm a broke bitch.
Also I work at a Harley place lol so its a little awkward.

The A3/S3/RS3 are all sedans in the US, they redid then in 2015 and made them sedans in the US. They're about the same size as the A4 was 10 years ago.

I'm gonna have to see that one day, or you can take a pic next to a dolphin grey audi so I can see the REAL difference.
Im hunting high and low for a B7 A4 Avant in Dolphin Grey with a 6spd, bi- xenons, black interior and preferably s line trim under 120k miles with the 2.0FSI. But the more I look the more I literally cry myself to sleep because I cant find one perfect enough like the last bitch.

Audi wagons seem so bland to me, but their sedans look great. Their old coupés are still the best though.

I just find the wagons to look more.... sporty. You have this thing your following with 10 inch wide tires and the top of the car is like brought in, its more pronounced on avants.

Some people love em some people love the sedans, I just found the sedans to look more ugly untill the B7's came out and they started doing BIGGER rear tail lights in the trunk lid which made em look goooood.
Audi has a great look in general in my opinion and the newer Audis are some of the best looking modern cars on the road. I really like the A/S/RS7s.

If I won the lottery tomorrow I'd be torn between a new Audi or a new BMW for a daily. Maybe a Tesla, but my area isn't super EV friendly yet.
Went to replace the control arm bushings today. Getting the arm pit was easy. Getting the old bushings out was difficult. And then when I go to press the new ones in the old control arm just bends and cracks. So fuck that.
Had to buy a new control arm. If I had more time I would have gotten a MOOG one online, but I didn't have that option so I had to pay twice the price for a lesser one. But I got it done. Getting the alignment done tomorrow or Sunday.
Also went to adjust my headlight and the plastic just broke. So I now have a piece of paper wedged to fix the assembly for now.
Mechanix gloves are legit. Best $20 I've spent in a while.
