Idk. If he is eating that much right now, without hitting the gym, his body is burning all the calories ingested. If he starts going to the gym everyday, he will use way more calories and will be at a calorie deficit if he keeps eating the same, which=weight loss.
iirc 3x/week weightlifting would only burn ~.5-1 lb of fat so its not really a big deal. that aside he needs to eat a boat load more

be 120, still underweight, but a HELLA of a lot healthier then 105 at my age and height.

nope, the body can run on Ketones. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketosis#Diet
prehistoric man probably spent most of his life in a ketogenic state

Yeah brah it's pretty much that simple, just eat and workout more. Post your progress, if you have trouble getting enough food each day, keep track of the calories. If you have trouble adjusting to eating a lot, eat more calorie dense foods instead of foods that just fill you up, exchange stuff like soda for a water and cashews.

from the article
"Some clinicians regard ketosis as a dangerous and potentially life-threatening state that stresses the liver and causes destruction of muscle tissues.[9][10][11][dubious – discuss] . Ketogenesis can occur solely from the byproduct of fat degradation: acetyl-CoA. Ketosis, which is accompanied by gluconeogenesis (the creation of glucose de novo from pyruvate), is the specific state with which clinicians are concerned."

tbh im to lazy to read the whole conversation but a ketogenic diet should only be used if youre completely shit ( psychologically) on a regular-low but nut ketogenic carbohydrate diet . it has no advantages.

ketosis =/= ketoacidosis but either way its fairly useless
my god do you have terrible acne
Not anymore. I don't care what people say, acutane is a miracle drug. It used to be really bad though. Never knew milk could cause that.

Accutane was my shit when I was 14.
I remember awhile back someone posted a article, saying if you only masturbated every 7 days, you would be more alert, and it would help against acene.
A lot of facepunchers tried it and said it worked.
SO! stop jerkin the turkin and you won't be a hideous monster.

just like there are a few physicians and researches who say it's unhealthy, there are a lot that don't quite think so
Although high-carbohydrate diets might be more effective in short-term tests of high-intensity exercise, there are multiple clues in the published literature that the debilitating effects of ketogenic diets are overstated. Not only is there the demographic evidence that whole populations of people lived for millennia as hunters, but there are many reports of Europeans crossing over to live within the cultures of these hunting societies without apparent impediment.
None of the 25 patients who had liver and kidney function tests had abnormal results.
of course this can be countered if you point out the rises in blood cholesterol caused by the diet and the amount of saturated fat that the diet is likely to contain, but the evidence isn't actually that strong that either of those are as bad for you as most people would think
what with blood cholesterol not exactly correlating to heart disease rates http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/27/opinion/27taubes.html
The truth is, we’ve always had reason to question the idea that cholesterol is an agent of disease. Indeed, what the Framingham researchers meant in 1977 when they described LDL cholesterol as a “marginal risk factor” is that a large proportion of people who suffer heart attacks have relatively low LDL cholesterol.

Other such tests have likewise failed to confirm it. A recent trial of torcetrapib, a drug that both raises HDL and lowers LDL cholesterol, was halted midstream because the drug seemed to cause heart attacks and strokes rather than prevent them. Estrogen replacement therapy also lowers LDL cholesterol, but it too has failed to prevent heart disease in clinical trials. The same goes for eating less saturated fat.
and with recent studies failing to link heart disease and saturated fat consumption http://www.reuters.com/article/2010/02/04/us-fat-heart-idUSTRE61341020100204
But in the new analysis, which combined the results of 21 previous studies, researchers found no clear evidence that higher saturated fat intakes led to higher risks of heart disease or stroke.
but seriously, a bunch of the stuff you posted makes no sense. although there IS some good data in there, things like "a large proportion of people who suffer heart attacks have relatively low LDL" is useless
^that is irrelevant, think about it, just because a large amount of people do not have it, does not mean it is not a leading cause.
it also talks about keto and lack of "apparent impediment", this means nothing, either you prove that there is a lack of impediment or there is not
oh and from the hopkins article:
" It can temporarily raise cholesterol, impair growth and, in rare cases, lead to kidney stones, among other side effects."
"Researchers caution it is possible that some effects may not show up for decades"
also, like 10% of all the ones being studied had abnormal side effects? a few with kidney stones, afew with other stuff, etc.
1 in 10 is not a good statistic
correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you be overweight/obese/have heart problems/circulation issues when you're extremely skinny, but can eat tons and not gain weight?
I remember people bragging about eating like so much every day ( I know people do this, I have before. ) and then I learned that you can actually be very unhealthy if you don't get exercise yet be ungodly skinny like Scoutking.

you can't be obese or overweight AND skinny, it's either or
I think you mean you can have heart problems and circulation issues when you have a high metabolism even though you have a skinny bodytype
if so, then you are correct
Ketosis and induced states such as near ketosis are perfectly healthy (some cultures basically exist/existed in states of ketosis their whole life, they eat nothing but meat and green leaf matter)
But, Ketosis is gay anyway. It's even more gay if you are trying to build muscle.
[editline]28th February 2011[/editline]
What else are we arguing?
[editline]28th February 2011[/editline]
Oh protein intake. I used to argue a lot about this, but now Im like fuck it dawg. There are so many variables and even those variables vary variably on a variable basis.
Just make sure you have respectable amount of protein in every meal and you'll be fine.

how about this?
I feel you, bro. I have an insane metabolism and have been trying to reach 180 for a month and I was 179 for like two weeks of it. Basically, you have to never stop eating
I'm at the same weight and despite eating more... I'm LOSING weight! Been on a plateau for weeks now, it's pissing me off big time.
Here's my rough daily diet:
Breakfast -3 eggs + 3 slices of toast
10:30 Snack - Yoghurt (About 14g carbs and 7g of protein in each)
Pre-gym shake - about 25g of whey protein
*30-45 Minute lifting sesh during lunch*
Lunch: Normally a salmon dinner ready meal containing potatos, veg and a good sized portion of salmon.
15:30 snack - Yogurt, same as above
Pre-gym shake - As above
*90 minute lifting (including 10 mins of cardio) sesh*
Dinner - Whatever I'm given, normally pretty healthy, good sized portion with plenty of carbs and protein
Whey shake before bed
Seems I'm losing 1 or so lbs a week despite lifting more and have upped my diet recently. It's already costing me a small fortune! Would struggle to cram in more food.
Stupid hidden page. Made me click 500 times.

your `bulking` diet is more like my cutting diet
if you really want to gain weight, you have to be eating a lot, all the time
add a couple servings of almonds/cashews in there and that is 1000 extra calories
2 peanut butter and banana sandwiches= 400 calories per sandwich so 800
add chocolate milk=100-150 calories per serving
you need to learn to eat lol
all those things I mentioned are cheap anyways
Fresh corn is fucking great. My dad's boss owns a small corn field, and I worked on it last summer. He gave me like 3 full bags of corn. It was a newer strain you know in corn there are the white kernels, well it was corn that was all white. You can just eat it raw and it's great, really sweet, or cook it, it's about 100 times better than anything you can get in a store.
