Eagles!
Woooooh!
I've had this doubt ever since I played Madden 04.
When a player with the ball is tackled, where does play restart? Where he landed, where he was, what?
Also, how is it decided when a playyer has been tackled, is it a particular body part on the ground, or what?
You're pretty much down when anything, but your feet are on the ground.
Except your hands.

on the yard line that the ball was spotted where he was down, the ball gets placed in between two lines in the center of the field and they run another play
his knee has to be down afaik
Falcons are having a great season. Hopefully we get a rematch against the Saints this Sunday.
LSU :byodood:
Is it just me or was the Tuck Rule play the most trolling-est play in football?
It's like "hurr i fumbled it BUT NOT REALLY cause my arm was moving forward"

If any part of you is brought down except hands and feet, and somebody is touching you, your down. Meaning if you trip, but nobody touched you, you can get back up. Also, the ball is spotted wherever the refs feel like it should be. If your on the 15 yard line, and someone pushed you to tackle you, and you stumble over to the 20, the ball is spotted on the 15.

Wherever the furthest point on the ball is when the player's body touches the ground, excluding the feet or hands

Great football team, or greatest football team?

It's the other way around... If you are on the 15 and they push you BACKWARDS to the 10... then they spot it at the 15...
If you are on the 15 and someone hits you from behind and you hit the ground at the 20, they spot it at the 20.
Forward progression. If you get pushed back not under your own power, it doesn't count against you. If you RUN backwards, then that is all on you. So someone pushes you back, you get it at the furthest point forward you ran. If you run backwards, you pretty much shit out of luck if you get tackled.
Not hard to describe at all.

Talking about a town in Switzerland?
It's a very beautiful town. Right next to an amazing lake and vast mountains. Very beautiful indeed. Oh, wait. We aren't.

We get the point. You can stop filling the thread with nonsense about European Football.
First rounds of Playoffs start tommorow.
I'm going with:
Jets
Ravens
Saints
Packers
This year should be interesting playoffs-wise.
There is a difference between rugby and american football? Could somebody enlighten me?
There is a difference between rugby and american football? Could somebody enlighten me?
*Sigh*
There pretty much completely different. Now I'm not as keen on knowledge on Rugby as I am to American Football but,
American Football has plays, different scoring system, pads, much more aggressive tackling form (hence why there is pads), kicking (not sure if rugby has that). Theres much more, but I don't feel like saying it all. Watch some videos on football, and tell me just how similar they are. And by that, I mean not similar at all.
Did you think Football was simply the sport of rugby with pads?

Do you hit like that in rugby?
:suicide:

Colts play tonight... I mean, they don't have any starters, but I think they can still beat the Jets...

Yes.
I feel like with pads you get some more intense hits...

Other than the balls look somewhat similar and they have a similar field, they're totally different.
People should stop comparing rugby hits and NFL hits. Rugby players are more skronney and faster because of the play style. NFL plays are slower but more beefy because they run into each other a lot. There's also a very good reason why NFL players wear pads to begin with.
There is a reason we don't where leatherheads anymore, and went to a helmet and padding that is more effective and its not because it looks better either.

I have to admit, the leatherheads did look awesome.
