If McDonald's doesn't give the Szechuan Sauce the McRib treatment after this they're seriously missing out on a huge business opportunity.
Only after [sp]9 more seasons[/sp]
Starting again.
Between the [sp]Nathan Fillion cameo[/sp] and [sp]PHOENIX PERSON[/sp], this is really slick.

Adjusted for inflation, that's about $4.92. So that's actually remained the same.
That's also a very specific thing for the show to reference. I love it.

What gets me is that Rick pretty much details everything you need to know about it in the episode.
I half-expect McDonald's to suddenly bring it back at some point and then when Season 3 really starts in the Summer Rick starts bitching about how his plan worked too well and they half-assed the sauce or some shit.
[sp]He's probably going to go become a badass, or at least a better, stronger person. They've shown other versions of Jerry showing the hidden strength (eg. the Cronenberg-verse) so it's not out-of-character. He might even end up as a significant antagonist somehow - become the leader of a remnant of the Galactic Government maybe? Jerry's always been on the side of the authorities, and Rick's viciously anarchist, so that could work. Just spitballing ideas of what I would do if I had to write the show.[/sp]
[sp]Council of Jerrys when?[/sp]
[sp]Council of Jerrys when?[/sp]
In hindsight [sp]with the Council of Ricks mostly wiped out though we don't know how extensively so, that means that any Morty that didn't die with their Rick in the conflict is now Rickless, and same for the Jerries. Which is probably going to be a whole new mess all of its own.[/sp]

[sp]rewatching the episode, he spares one by just zapping him unconscious so i wonder if thatll come into play[/sp]
THANK YOU!
[sp]I'm really questioning if Ricks "fake" story is actually fake. I really don't know what to make of that.[/sp]
After all, we know for a fact he cares about others especially Morty, Summer, and Beth no matter how much he tries to play it off. None of this would have happened if he didn't and it's been clear from the beginning that he's a flawed person who's life suddenly went astray at some point. Most likely due to something he was never able to control, hence the alcoholism which is only making it worse. This episode is a prime example of him making things even worse beyond that. It's a downward spiral for him, and I guess it's easier to not care but in the end he still can't bring himself to do it no matter what.
Yeah seems like this season is going to be pretty dark like he said, especially if this is how it's going to start off.
Just my two cents.
Having Morty point out [sp]how unfair it was to be represented by a Morty in the trial really got me good.[/sp]

Jesus Christ this show is a nightmare

I think rick really does care about his family but he doesn't want them to know that because of his painful past.

[sp] I also think the backstory is partly true [/sp]

[sp]I suspect Rick's family died, he went to the dimension of the Rick that killed them, killed that Rick, and then replaced him. Rick then "ran away" when he couldn't deal with it anymore.[/sp]

If anything this is the season when they'll have to start addressing Ricks past. They've stretched our suspension of disbelief as far as it'll go, to the point that the dimension he's at now is the only one we really feel connected to and it's even the one he's seemingly taken as his own. That's for better or for worse at this point.
[sp]How would you have felt if he had killed Summer at any point in time, let alone C137 Summer, which is supposedly the one I'm supposed to care about the most. Not to mention Morty is the one who put her in danger in the first place considering the note.[/sp] This is why I love this show, it raises so many questions and gives you just enough to feel satisfied and begging for more.

[sp]He doesn't care, C137 Summer is the Kronenberg world Summer. They bring up the fact that the current Summer who was taken hostage by the Council of Ricks wasn't Rick's original Summer[/sp]

[sp]What other reason would have put a sticky note that says "this is a fake gun, pretend to shoot me" on the side of that dummy gun other than to save her?[/sp]
[sp]He says right after, it was all a ruse to make Beth not hate him and make him the patriarch of both the family, and the universe.[/sp]
[sp]I am actually surprised they were done with the Cronenberg universe so fast. One does not think too strongly about it because it happens six episodes in the first season, when the show really has not established that much continuity, and it is seen as nothing more than a gag about "reset buttons" that are so common in continuity-less shows. But now that the show has reached its third season, the fact that Rick (and even Morty, which makes it that more fucked up) just bailed on an entire dimension and their original families really does put a dent in the capability to believe that Rick does actually care in his family[/sp]
[sp]My own personal theory is that Rick was a gigantic piece of shit, and didn't give a fuck. The Cronenberg incident was his biggest fuck up to date and that was the point he started caring, which explains why he wouldn't want anything like that to happen again.[/sp]
[sp]Or maybe he's just a gigantic dick for real, that's also a completely reasonable possibility.[/sp]
The best and worst part about this show is that while you can usually assume that whenever somebody gets all epilectic trees about a cartoon they're definitely looking waaaaay too much into it, with Rick and Morty anything could actually happen and the writers' answers to fucking out of left field theories is making canon that is even further away from the left field.
So basically [sp]this was literally ALL a play for the creator of R&M to get mcDonalds to bring back the szechuan sauce for mcNuggets. WHAT IN THE FUCK. This was probably the most brilliant thing I've seen in my life.[/sp]
