It looks great, but after all these Assassin's Creed games and Metal Gear Solid V, quite frankly I am pretty much getting turned off from 'open world' games. The idea of setting up assassinations according to objective bonuses or just doing it your own way is appealing yet if there's no meat to these six large maps then it's going to get repetitive and dull very fast.
Developer promised that there would be bucket loads of ways to kill a target. You can go in the easy way and shoot everyone or do it the hard way and try to blend in perfectly. The Paris map has over 100 different "accident" situations.
i hope his bald head is as shiny as it was in absolution. rumor has it 47 uses it to blind his enemies
It looks great and pretty big but the fact it's the second map of three that will be available on launch makes it seem small. For comparison MGSV has only two maps which offer limited interior and base variety but the size makes up for it. This game seem to go for medium sized maps with a lot of detail and buildings with several floors. That's great but I feel 3 maps is quite few. The gameplay looks great so yay for that and maybe I will be surprised how well it will work. At least they priced it accordingly.
The thing is though you wont have to wait THAT LONG for more maps. It's release then 1 new map every month which is not looking like a bad thing if the scale of the levels is this big.
So the launch is basically half a game with the rest coming later on as an expansion however instead of being absolutely terrible they still let you buy the whole set so you'll get it when it comes for the usual full game price. Honestly, its bad but it's not a hugely terrible model.
I dont really see how its bad to be honest. Seems decent to me. If you just want a little bit of the game, you're not gonna play the whole thing, you get a seriously discounted price.
Poor chef. He didn't see that flurry coming!
kill EVERYONE in this friendly and peaceful village on the beautiful italian riviera
You'd think after the fourth or fifth assassination in a row in the small Italian city, all those crime-lords and evil double-lifers would book it.

Plus think of it this way, you pay full price then have to wait for the other half the game to be released months later. Its bad, but its not terrible as long as they follow through with it. If they don't then you'll see why its a bad model to follow.
This looks like it might actually be quite good. I was really disappointed with Absolution.
I'm glad video games are still moving back to bright, vibrant and colourful tones. 2005 to around 2011 went pretty brown and murky for a while.
[t]http://static1.gamespot.com/uploads/original/43/434805/2944261-6763874047-13304.jpg[/t] Well that's how many maps its gonna have at launch.
6 seems reasonable the witcher 3 only has 3 major locations, 2 of which are conjoined, and I don't count white orchard or whatever its called because it's the starting area, and kaer morhen is just 1 castle. Yet Witcher 3 still has a pretty serious amount of content. Meanwhile, Skyrim has like, what, 9 cities? And not as much interesting content with enough variation and stuff to do these 6 locations can be made to be very serious maps to contend with.

A more direct comparison would be if they had 6 quests across 3 cities to start with, no RPG elements and you're always engaged in an assassination quest. There's also Contracts mode for more content but in Absolution it wasn't so great, hopefully the expanded locations make it more replayable.
There's also Contracts mode for more content but in Absolution it wasn't so great, hopefully the expanded locations make it more replayable.
If they expand the contract mode, like adding new npc's, npc's path and weapons trough the map, it would definitely make the game last longer.
Unfitting music. I am a purist, they need Jesper Kyd.
Unfitting music. I am a purist, they need Jesper Kyd.
It kills me knowing he won't be on board for this game either. His style just fits Hitman's atmosphere so well. Absolution's music wasn't bad, but it was very forgettable.
When I see shit like this I always think I hope the coders are as good at coding as the mappers are at mapping
Open world murder Waldo simulator 2k16.
Huh, this was very well put together.
well they did delay this game solely for more time to put towards it. I was more surprised to hear glitchmob in a trailer for hitman, and it worked SO WELL
It's nice that they're trying something new with the level design and taking inspiration from games like Assassin's Creed and The Phantom Pain where the maps are fuck huge and missions take place in specific parts of the level.
