I never said we should nuke other cities. I'm simply saying some of you are getting all pissy at one another about this subject and neither parties can do a damn thing about it and it shouldn't be argued in the first place.
Isn't that the same with half of all debates and arguments ever? We can't do a damned thing about religion, yet we argue about it constantly. It's just human nature. Just because we can't do anything about it doesn't mean we should just ignore it.
My heart goes out to all the victims of the bombing, along with all of their friends, family, and maybe even descendants on FP.
I shall make a RIP at Megaton
Utter destruction, we should never need to use these things.
Either we dropped the bomb then or more people died.
Kill 100,000 save a million
A tragedy that sadly couldn't have been avoided.
We did what we had to do to win a war. Back when you didnt have to worry about killing civilians and it should still be that way now.
You have no idea what you are talking about! There is NEVER a proper time, place, or reason to kill unarmed and non-combatant personnel. From your own reasoning, a soldier could attempt to use your house as an attempt to gain ground on the enemy, and when you refuse, he'd shoot you because you're not worth anything.
Funny because that's my friends birthday and he just happens to be Japanese.
Well all I can say is we gave plenty of warning before both bombs, and the end result was less casualties on both sides anyway Speaks for itself
These two officers had a competition to see who could cut down 100 Chinese people first. the figures for total deaths in China, Malaysia, Korea, Indochina, and Vietnam total up to anywhere from 3 million to 10 million. Eye for an eye punishment.
I like how the Japanese are so vocal about this part of the war but try to remove the Rape of Nanking from their history books.
They feel everything they do is right, and everybody else that does something back is wrong.
i say we bomb them again to keep them in their place
i say we bomb them again to keep them in their place
I think the mass of FP would like to bomb you now.
I think the mass of FP would like to bomb you now.
i say we bomb you [editline]12:06AM[/editline] fuck yeah america
i say we bomb you [editline]12:06AM[/editline] fuck yeah america
Your making a ass out of your country. Besides jap's already bombed us. Killed darwin and had a fail sub hit the bridge.
i say we bomb you
Stop it. Also, if they would have not used the bomb, the war would have been a lot longer, and who knows who what would happen. But they should just drop it near japan, so they would know how powerful it is then drop leaflets that say that they REALLY should surrender.
Fucking terrible. I'm pretty sure even the Americans felt awful after doing that.
They did, Didn't one of the members on the crew say something about i am death?.
Fucking terrible. I'm pretty sure even the Americans felt awful after doing that.
[img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/d1/Vj_day_kiss.jpg[/img_thumb] Yeah, they were depressed. Also the pilot of enola gay said that he would do it again, if the circumstanses would be the same. He is not sorry.
They did, Didn't one of the members on the crew say something about i am death?.
(Giant IIRC disclaimer) No that was Robert Oppenheimer at the test of The Gadget. The quote is "I am become Death, destroyer of worlds", and it's a quote from the Bhagavad Gita
Well now it's today. Any mod changing the title would be appreciated. :D
...go away, this was the single most devastating act of mass murder in war, and one of the worst acts of wankey-prethinking ever, it took a terrifying number of deaths to make us realise the true force a nuke commands, no wonder they're not being used left, right and centre.
Really? Hitler mass murdering and torturing millions of Jews for no apparent reason is better than a quick, painless nuke that was meant end the war? I don't think so.
It's kind of weird to think about it, but nuclear weapons were the ones that brought world peace. Why do you think world superpowers don't even try to attack eachother? Because nuclear war's nightmarish vision is enough to make the stupidest politician have second thoughts about starting a conflict with another world superpower.
I watched a program on the BBC about the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. It was fucking horrible. On it there was a survivor of it telling how she heard her daughter screaming as she burnt to death in the rubble. I'm think the bombing though...may have been the only effective option to end it though. [editline]11:14AM[/editline]
Really? Hitler mass murdering and torturing millions of Jews for no apparent reason is better than a quick, painless nuke that was meant end the war? I don't think so.
It wasn't painless. For some it would have been as they were practically vaporized. But others got killed by the fires as they were trapped in the rubble, and some must have died from radiation poisoning. I think even today there are some mutations in children because of the radiation. So it was definitely not painless.
Nuclear bombing is the only way
It took this to make us realise that nukes are bad. Lets hope the bombs of the future aren't tested like this. ...go away, this was the single most devastating act of mass murder in war, and one of the worst acts of wankey-prethinking ever, it took a terrifying number of deaths to make us realise the true force a nuke commands, no wonder they're not being used left, right and centre.
What a crock of fucking bullshit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanking_Massacre http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bataan_Death_March http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unit_731 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_war_crime
R. J. Rummel, a professor of political science at the University of Hawaii, states that between 1937 and 1945, the Japanese military murdered from nearly 3,000,000 to over 10,000,000 people, most likely 6,000,000 Chinese, Indonesians, Koreans, Filipinos, and Indochinese, among others, including Western prisoners of war.
ITT: Ridiculous American who think that genocide can be justified.
this is an extraordinarily dumb comment [editline]02:15PM[/editline] first off it's not genocide, you dolt [editline]02:17PM[/editline] second had we not done it not only would a huge land invasion have occurred which would've been devastating for the country of japan as a whole, it would have easily changed the course of history and made the cold war much, much, much, much more dangerous which possibly could have lead to the destruction of the entire planet
This is one of those big fat grey areas that can never be completely justified or condemned.
I thought it was whales and dolphins that dropped the bombs? I mean thats the only logical reason that the Japanese would kill dolphins.
The day America the greatest country on Earth became greater. :fsmug:
