I love Coldplay, Parachutes is my favourite of them all
It's an album by Radiohead, and they are wildly successful and OK Computer is widely considered one of the best albums ever made.
Oh, well that's embarassing.
Ah well. I like Radiohead, but I prefer Coldplay.
Yes. After that guy told me to express my feelings about shite bands.
With all the posts you made being within one minute, I doubt you took a listen to some of the bands there.
I remixed viva la vida.
I went to their concert on the 25th.
It was the best concert I ever went to except maybe Van Halen.
FYI their new EP album is AWESOME "Prospects march"
Thanks for reminding me. I'll add that one soon when I get home.
If you ask me, they fucking suck.
you don't like them,the don't "suck" nothing "suck's" apart from a girl.
I never really got into them until X&Y.

Ugh..
I hate how EVERYONE but Coldplay fans call them get/the fan gay.
Coldplay is pretty epic :)
I am going to their concert next year!
I lol'd at all the "Viva la vida is awesome" posts.
It's not even their song. They stole it from Joe Satriani.

Read this after the Satch thread, all the 'Love Viva la Vida' posts made me laugh.

Yeah, and the Beach Boys "Surfing USA" is a rip off of Chuck Berry's "Sweet Little 16". Viva la Vida is an awesome song even if it does have a similar tune to Joe Satriani's song.

It's not a similarity, they stole the melody. The tone, pitch, phrasing, innotation and key.

I don't care about the Beach Boys or Chuck Berry.
What we have here is one group not giving credit where it's due.
It's a blatant copy.
Coldplay have a few alright songs on their first 2 albums but I never really liked any of their newer stuff.
I love how everyone is all, "ColdPlay stole from Joe Satriani!" when I don't really care for either of the bands, but like Viva La Vida and hate If I Could Fly.

So..hang on, let me take a second to figure this out.
You love how everyone is all "Coldplay stole from Joe Satriani" but don't really like either of them so people shouldn't be all like "Coldplay stole from Joe Satriani"?
Is that what you're getting at? You don't like them so people talking about it is somehow unreal to you?
Ok.
Seeing as how a lot of songs have similar melodies, yes.
Seeing as how a lot of songs have similar melodies, yes.
It's not a similarity.
The melody is exactly the same. One hell of a coincidence, it just so happens to be in the same key, have the same phrasing and innotation, oh and the exact same timing too.

Therefore it must have been on purpose. Seriously, the styles of the bands are completely different. The odds of them pulling inspiration from Satriani are just as slim.
Not really. Only the first 2 bars of every phrase is the same. It's the exact same tempo too, which is kind of suspicious.

Because picking a specific artist out of the millions of them is so likely.

It's only slim if you assume that a genre can only take inspiration from within itself, and that's a pretty narrow viewpoint. If that was true there'd only be one genre, it'd be called music and there'd only be one musician. Then he'd probably kill himself because no one cared about his music.
Because picking a specific artist out of the millions of them is so likely.
It's more likely than them writing the exact same melody.

It has lyrics, and it sounds better
It has lyrics, and it sounds better
Shame they didn't write how it sounds then.
Coldplay is way over manufactured for me.
Lacks spontaneity.
I'm fucking sick of Viva La Vida, overrated piece of shit trash. It's like Through The Fire and Flames, or Diary of Jane.
People hear one song and go, "OH, I LOVE THAT BAND!"
It has lyrics
Because writting lyrics requires more talent that mastering the gregorian modal system and fully comprehending all of it's uses to compose. :downs:

Satriani is actually one of the most influential guitar players that are around at the moment, the odds are actually pretty high that Coldplay have listened to him.
I disagree; they've got a unique style. You can head a Coldplay song and instantly go "That's Coldplay!".
Exactly. Coldplay are a good band. I prefer the Kaiser Chiefs, but that's me. Although I'd like to hear your feelings on the Kaiser Chiefs Splurgy, I have this rough idea you like them.
Oh, and Viva la Vida is awesome. And I mean the album.
