Heh, everyone loves that prelude 'cept Rachmaninov. He actually refered to the piece as "it" because people wanted him to play it so much.
I'm learning the prelude, it's actually pretty simple up until the end.

Prolly gonna get some shit for this one (since a lot of people hate them), but TDWP has blown my mind every time I've seen them live. There's just something about their music that hits a nerve in me. It's not the most complex or unique music in the world, but there isn't a rule stating that music has to be difficult to play in order to be good. I leave their shows with my jaw sliding around on the ground.

The first time I heard them (5 or 6 years ago), Nightwish blew my mind. Nemo was the best song I had ever heard at the time, and remains one of my favourites. It got me into metal.

Nevermore have also made me go '...wow' with their cover of The Sound Of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel. Such a transformation from the original, that adds a darker twist and a more sinister meaning to the lyrics.

You should check out Alexander Scriabin (his early works are alot like Rachmaninov, if you don't like atonal music though I'd stay away from his later stuff).

Amorphis' album Eclipse as well as Skyforger blew my mind. Eluveitie - Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion likewise, and Sybreed - Antares. They all have a unique sound that I haven't seen to that standard anywhere else.
