Yeah, I don't like this particular ad movement. The facts are really not cold hard ones, and you get this sort of acceptance feel to it-like "well, your friends may be cool for smoking marijuana, drinking alcohol, and snorting concaine, but they are dumbasses and are going to die from doing so. So if you stop being friends with them, you may be cool, but who gives a fuck". I seriously get the feeling that they are trying to sell a product when I look at the ads, rather than "spreading awareness about drugs and their bad effects". I mean, c'mon, we have school classes for this stuff- ever heard of health? I'm very sure that every damn high school in the country has some form of health class than talks about drugs.

Anyway, like so many proud users, you forget that mentally ill people use weed too. Mental illness includes anything from depression to schizophrenia, and lots of mental illnesses are relatively common. Those with mental illnesses often tend towards drug use. Lack of impulse control.
Oh, and addiction is not just physical. There's dependence, too. What you call habitual use. Your mind likes being on weed better than being sober, so you seek to be on weed. It gets worse if you have impulse control problems, and thus, emotional dependency, a form of addiction that is very, very real.
Here's something they don't teach you on the street. Mental illness causes drugs to have abnormal affects. Like aggression and sleeplessness. Check in to your local psych ward for some reputable sources, as well as some first-hand accounts of the phenomenon. Schizophrenics have this problem sometimes.
Now, above the influence is not the best place to go for unbiased fact. Marijuana is a user's drug. It's like alcohol without the opportunity to "drink for the taste." It's just drinking for effect. Drunks function in society too.
Unless you're supposedly not affected by the high (might as well smoke paper, then you wouldn't be breaking the law), or you have a prescription in which case it's just another medicine, like lortab (I frown on lortab abuse too), you're abusing the drug just like drinking to get drunk.
