I'm slightly disappointed that they [sp]cut the sidewalk scene.[/sp]
it wouldve just looked like this [t]http://www.drapekings.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Encore-Black-Drapery-Fabric-by-Drape-Kings-Final.jpg[/t] just gotta wait for those blu rays
there's some interesting symbolism going on with Dio and Diavolo (part 3 and part 5 spoilers) https://data.archive.moe/board/a/image/1432/85/1432854530243.png in case you don't get it [sp]Dio is italian for God, he is at the top of the stairs, Diavolo is italian for Devil, he is at the bottom of the stairs[/sp]
i really don't think araki thought it through that hard
i really don't think araki thought it through that hard
it's not impossible, considering some other cool details, like (part 2 and part 4 spoilers) [sp]Josuke saying his grandma got hit by the same car twice in one day, Kars hit Lisa Lisa twice in Part 2[/sp] and (part 3 and part 6 spoilers) [sp]Jotaro gets killed by his face splitting open vertically, just like in Boingo's book[/sp]
the [sp]senator car scene[/sp] was so fucking flaccid in this anime. like embarrassingly so compared to the OVA. i'm really digging how they're doing a 1:1 of the manga, the voice talent, music, and the character designs, but the animation itself is really poor quality. it might just be because i've been watching it for over a year, but i could practically feel the budget leaking out of this episode. not surprising considering david pro's budget. well, i guess that's the inherent disadvantage of using modern 3d animation instead of hand drawn. i have to agree the animation feels flatter than the first season maybe their budget will be kicked into overdrive (heh) for part 4 and it'll go back to being explosive just the way i like it
i have to agree the animation feels flatter than the first season maybe their budget will be kicked into overdrive (heh) for part 4 and it'll go back to being explosive just the way i like it
if by first season you mean parts 1 and 2, that was pretty much a slideshow a lot of the time look at how little movement is going on here
the weird color effects were better too this vs this it's not as loud, there's not a lot of sudden movement, that cool scratchy shading style isn't there anymore, and from what i can remember there's a lot more panning that said i'm still enjoying it a lot
anime only ending, dio is defeated off screen and the last 5 episodes are just the normal lives of the main cast
I don't think [sp]funeral[/sp] footage would be all that exciting :v:

Gonna have to watch the BD edition for the sidewalk scene. Minor part 3 spoiler like really minor it probably shouldn't even count as one but I'm putting it in tags just in case. [sp]Just sad we didn't see the car cream the fuck outta Wally/Waldo[/sp] Actual part 3 spoiler [sp]I wonder how censored the cat scene is going to be or if they'll just cut it like they did with the sidewalk[/sp]
Loved how Virtuous Pope started playing when [sp]Kakyoin attacks Dio in his car[/sp] but it abruptly stops when he goes "Nope."
it's not impossible, considering some other cool details, like (part 2 and part 4 spoilers) [sp]Josuke saying his grandma got hit by the same car twice in one day, Kars hit Lisa Lisa twice in Part 2[/sp] and (part 3 and part 6 spoilers) [sp]Jotaro gets killed by his face splitting open vertically, just like in Boingo's book[/sp]
I'll buy the second one, but that first thing is just plain bullshit.
What are you talking about, the animation is far better than season 1 which uses a lot to try to distract you from the lack of actual animation. It has better art direction but it's not trying to be ultra accurate to the manga. This episode was oozing budget because Dio. And what do you mean "instead of hand drawn", do you think all those frames magically draw themselves? The only difference between cel animation and digital is that the inking and colouring process is done on computers, not getting into the use of digital effects.
May I have the final key please? I'm so hyped to see how they'll animate [sp]the time stopping motion[/sp] to Crunchyroll, I mean
my friend made me make this

I have not watched the anime in quite some time, I stopped keeping up at Yellow Temperance. What are some of the main differences so far? [sp]Karera is a pretty big con artist, maybe next chapter we will learn more about Josukes past and more about this mystery fruit, I wonder what kind of guy Kira Yoshikage was too.[/sp]
I have not watched the anime in quite some time, I stopped keeping up at Yellow Temperance. What are some of the main differences so far?
Art style and a couple added scenes.
I have not watched the anime in quite some time, I stopped keeping up at Yellow Temperance. What are some of the main differences so far?
There aren't really. David Production really follows the manga closely as opposed to Studio APPP. I think there's a couple of extra scenes though.

The only difference between cel animation and digital is that the inking and colouring process is done on computers, not getting into the use of digital effects.
day late responding, sorry, but i didn't like it for a LOT of reasons, mostly because the pace was too goddamn fast and breakneck compared to the scene from the OVA which completely ruins it Compare this week's car and sidewalk scenes to the OVA's, ordered respectively https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agoLKlxtgqQ http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x13xv1m_1993-jojo-s-bizarre-adventure-ova-12-eng-dub_shortfilms (starts at 7:33, gets really good at 9:35, end scene starts at 11:15 or so) The production value in the OVA is obviously superior, seeing as how it's a traditionally animated OVA and not a 40 something episode completely adaptation, but that's not all there is to it. Lower budget doesn't mean. Slight spoilers here [sp]The anime really disappointed me because they did a shit job of showing Dio's power in this scene. The OVA scene, directed by the one and only Satoshi Kon, utilizes camera tricks to make The World's power very ambiguous, unlike the new anime where they spent like 30 cents animating the senator magically reappearing in his seat. Because of how poorly they adapted it, I'm guessing many new jojo fans probably figured out what the stand does immediately. I'm not going to rail on them for not showing the people slamming against the car because they probably removed it because of censorship tho. It's not just about the camera tricks, it's about the pace, too. OVA slows it down, puts the actiony music away, with the only audio being the characters talking and the city sounds. That did a lot of service to Dio, because he's intimidating enough to where he doesn't need an EPIC THEME. The anime keeps it SUPER FAST with that techno or epic adventure music blasting every goddamn second, with absolutely no breaks at all, which results in this comparatively embarrassing adaptation of the scene.[/sp] The idea of them adding every single tiny detail from the manga was really exciting at first, but now it looks to me like they've had to make a few sacrifices to do that. Based on the last, what, 45 episodes, I'm guessing they're going to do the same disservice to the final fights which is a real shame because I've been waiting for this for over a year. [editline]31st May 2015[/editline] clarification: i loved the episode, but thought it was hot garbage compared to the untouchable satoshi kon version
the ova has great action, some really good direction and (sometimes) great animation, but those are pretty much the only good things about it
the ova has great action, some really good direction and (sometimes) great animation, but those are pretty much the only good things about it
That's almost everything. The list of bad shit would be shorter than the list of good. Like, it sucks that the series starts halfway in and the beginning is picked up years later with a fraction of the quality. The english dubs are fucking hysterically awful and make 4kids look competent. The soundtrack sounds like it was done in a few hours with an old casio. All that against the good things about the OVA though... There's no fucking contest. The OVAs are fucking beautiful albeit inaccurate and imperfect works of art created by some of the greatest minds in the industry. The current anime series is made by people who have a fraction of the budget and *possibly* a fraction of the talent but with exponentially more love for the source material.
