I finished part 3 of the manga and started Diamond is Unbreakable today. I really like Josuke
[sp]Joseph still best Jojo thou.[/sp]
I think my favorite Jojo would either be Josuke 4 or Johnny
So, was there ANY other uploaded footage of the Phantom Blood Movie aside from the 15 minutes compilation and two trailers? I heard that the full thing was on YouTube and some other anime streaming site before both got taken down.
I finished Part 1 and 2 and caught all the way up on Part 3 in the span of 72 hours.
Tbh even though stands are really cool, I'm disappointed that Joseph doesn't get to use Hamon much anymore.

I am too, [sp] I thought he'd use it to fight the first D'arby with the coin game. Use hamon to hold the water in until it was D'arby's turn.[/sp]

[sp]and how would it be cheating if he used it with D'arby taking notice? [/sp]

I was screaming that in my head during the whole sequence. Hell, he could have just [sp]challenged him to hold the cup upside down without water spilling.[/sp]
[sp]and how would it be cheating if he used it with D'arby taking notice? [/sp]
[sp]I don't know if you could even consider Hamon cheating in that instance. There was no rule saying Joseph couldn't hold the glass, and it's part of his 'natural' abilities.[/sp]

[sp]i'm pretty sure d'arby would notice gigantic bolts of lightning on the water, which is why i assume he didn't use ripple[/sp]
[sp]its basically like using a stand to do anything, a stand is natural if you've had it since birth or so[/sp]
Manga spoiler:
[sp]Unless you get shot by a magical arrow.[/sp]
[sp]Unless you get shot by a magical arrow.[/sp]
you should probably mention that that's manga spoilers for the people who are just watching the anime

[sp]Weren't it also mentioned sometime in Steel Ball Run that you can develop stands through hamon or spin, and things like that?[/sp]

Is hamon actually visible to other people? Or i s it shown for reader convenience?

Part 7 onward is irrelevant.
[sp]Different universe different rules[/sp]

Smokey was like "I thought I saw him glow" so I presume everyone sees

But Araki had a whole subchapter unrelated to the actual story of Part 7 [sp]describing the rules of Stands and he referenced Hamon and Spin as sort of possible stepping-stones to a attaining Stand. Considering Hamon never appears in part 7, he probably intended this to apply back to the old universe.
That said, considering that's the only real, definitive connection made between the two concepts, it's kinda hard to believe it.[/sp]

[sp]I always thought Spin was hamon, but maybe "discovered" by a different group of people and developed a different way. Weird analogy, but maybe something like pyramids. A whole bunch of different societies around the world did them on their own. Except, you know, it's an alternate universe so it could very well just be alternate hamon. Wasn't that the point?[/sp]

Maybe, but I think spin and hamon are fundamentally different
[sp]hamon = harnessing the energy of the sun through breathing, polar opposite of the energy exerted by vampires and pillar men
spin = observing nature to perform a perfect action, harnessing the Magnus effect and the forces of gravity[/sp]
really not sure where stands come into this, other than that they are simply a manifestation of spiritual energy. They might have been called 'ghost ripple' to begin with, but that was phased out
Banish any thoughts of Hamon from your brains, it becomes more irrelevant than cassette tapes post Part 3. Stands are cooler anyways because they have have more defined powers that have to be used in clever and intelligent ways versus magic lightning power that can do a million different things at the behest of Araki. Jojo's writing and conflict is best when people with two ridiculous and niche powers have to fight and seeing who is more resourceful and determined to win.
Also, at least Hamon was in around 3 parts, I have no faith that the Spin will ever return.
I think Hamon was pretty well defined, though?
You gather sun-like energy from breathing, and can transfer that energy through physical contact. This enables [sp]damaging Pillar Men & their minions through sun energy and manipulating things like the surface tension of water and your own blood through that energy. It can also be conducted through certain materials similar to electricity.[/sp]
There weren't really any points where I was like "okay that's just bullshit" with the usage of Hamon. That did happen to me with stands a few times, though.
e.g. [sp]How Silver Chariot's armor only seemed to work that one time when Avdol fought Polnareff, how some stands were suddenly visible to normal people purely because they're big, that two finger punch thing that Star Platinum was suddenly able to do, how on Earth Joseph's stand works in the first place, and some other things.[/sp]
Also why didn't Joseph use Hamon to [sp]walk on water[/sp] and save that kid when she was at risk of [sp]getting eaten by a shark[/sp] :v:

Which stands is it that are visible to ordinary people?
Strength, Wheel of Fortune, and Tohth are bound to physical objects , so of course they will be seen.
And what part of Joseph's stand is hard to get?
Eh I mean other than Tohth they're bound to objects smaller (in the case of Strength, much smaller) than the stands themselves though.
How does Joseph's stand get the information e.g. city maps that Joseph has never seen before? How does it create images from places and events half the world away from Joseph? Not to mention how the fuck does Tohth work?
It doesn't break my immersion or anything but I'm just saying I consider Hamon less BS than some of the Stands' powers :v:

Thats literally the whole point behind Hermit Purples power.
Its the power of remote viewing.

What could be vague about an ability that allows someone to control living beings, generate and control inanimate objects and forms of matter, conduct magic sun-electricity through whatever is convenient for the character, heal people miraculously, is transferable through physical touch upon expiration, and modify and strengthen biological material all at once?

oh man i forgot about it being able to control people, in a bit i think they only used once in the whole series
if you want more hamon: go read/watch fist of the north star
Eh I mean other than Tohth they're bound to objects smaller (in the case of Strength, much smaller) than the stands themselves though.
Which ones? I only remember Strength as the one that can make objects larger with its full potential unlock.
Not to mention how the fuck does Tohth work?
It predicts the future. Thats it. Fate always finds a way but all the stand does it tell you what will happen.
It predicts the future. Thats it. Fate always finds a way but all the stand does it tell you what will happen.
It works on the principal of "It's magic, aint gonna explain shit."
There are some moments that are a lot harder to understand later on. [sp]Funny Valentine using D4C to make it seem like different people shot Johnny[/sp]
oh man i forgot about it being able to control people, in a bit i think they only used once in the whole series
Exactly, when you have so many vague powers under one roof you can pull any shit out of anywhere to write a story. It's much more interesting when the characters have rules and limitations to abide by.
So, uh, the weird name censorship is so random. I genuinely don't understand why it's okay to call them the zenyatta mondatta brothers instead of Oingo Boingo, when the former is literally just the title of a Police album and nothing else.
