At least this scene made it mostly unscathed.

See, there's a fundamental misunderstanding here. You can't yell it, you have to scream it until your lungs explode.
When I listen to last Christmas I can't help but think of the Aztec gods of fitness
Part of me is horrified by the idea that newer fans of Jojo will watch the eventual animated versions of Part 4 and on and get used to the wrong stand names. I mean, fuck, Zipper Man. No thanks. Part 3's censorship is nothing compared to the shit we'll have to endure later.
The censorship will forever absolutely baffle me.

my favorite stand is six bullets
What will Golden Experience be?
Silver Euphoria?

I believe they call it Golden Wind. The Part 5 stands get absolutely assblasted by the censorship. Here's a couple examples.
Kraftwerk - Arts & Crafts
Spice Girl - Spicy Lady
Aerosmith - Lil' Bomber
Green Day - Green Tea
and many, many... many more.
And yes, Dr._Medic, Six Bullets is my favorite stand too. I love Gerald Mister as a character in general, my favorite part is when Tina One says he smells bad from all the jelly donuts he eats.
My favorite stand is Filthy Acts at a Reasonable Price.
So i've only watched the anime so far, battle tendency being my favourite so far I think, if I get into the manga would it be good to re-read the first 3 parts or was basically everything in the anime and I should just pick it up at part 4?
I personally enjoyed reading the first two parts (Part 3 wasn't out when I read) after watching the anime, and I feel better off for having done so in some nondescript way.
But lots of people just skip to reading part 4. You don't miss anything.
By "skip to reading part 4" I meant "watched the anime" :v:

on the bright side, (part 6 spoilers if you consider stand names spoilers) [sp]maiden heaven is phonetically identical to made in heaven[/sp]
probably the smoothest bit of copyright evasion i've ever seen

I'd say the Capcom fighting game has the smoothest copyright evasion, usually just changing a letter. (Kameo, Iggi, Alessy, Ken-E-Gee, Chaca, and Kan)

It's actually "D4C", but nobody knows what it could possibly stand for...

still no clue why Kiss was censored its a generic word

What's even more confusing is that Prince is usually super uptight about copyright infringement regarding his music, so we can't say Gold Experience.
...but we can say Soft & Wet. I don't get it.

It's not just Prince references that are weirdly censored.
Killer Queen becomes Deadly Queen, yet [sp]the third bomb is still called 'Bites the Dust'[/sp]
I just forced myself to finish off Part 5, it's probably my least favourite so far. I'm sure a large part of it was down to the terrible translation but it seemed like none of the characters had any real personality, especially Giorno. I'll probably reread it when it's got a decent translation and is in colour.

Can't use Oingo Boingo, despite each character saying it in English like forty times each. No no, use Zenyatta Mondatta, that's a meaningless term right?
What do you mean the album reached double platinum in the country we translated this for?
Is Sheer Heart Attack censored? I can't remember
never forget Jean-Pierre Eifel, even though the viz manga translation got away with polnareff, we have to be extra cautious.
Or how the viz manga has the rights to the name rubber soul, but doesn't use it for fucking RUBBER SOUL, no no that would be too easy, let's use it for STEELY DAN'S CENSORED NAME.
I think it's just called Heart Attack.

It's the translation. You'd be surprised how much a terrible translation will ruin a story, it's characters, the plot, and everything else. You're supposed to think of Giorno as being as kind as Jonathan, but as cunning as Dio. You don't much get any impression from him in the shitscan.
