Redoing part six again.
I honestly haven't read the colored scans for part six, but I did know the guy who made them went over and fixed stuff at least twice after they were all done, so it was kind of surprising to hear that there were a lot of problems.

It's sort of sad that the dude who had done the Phantom Blood colorized translation retired. There is so much shit to fix in their project it's not even funny. I hear they started redoing Part 6.
That is the perfect image to show someone that asks what JoJo is.
Were the color versions translated before non-color versions? If not, why not just use the non-color translation?

tl;dr you can't just overlay the old translation without it looking like poop
Black-and-white translations by several groups were first, then, after the Shueisha (I think? that's the only non-Japanese word I can recognize on volume back covers) digital colored releases in 2012, colored translations followed.
Colored translations are based on works of the Ignition One group, with some spelling and formatting corrections (however, there is still a shitload of mistakes left). The only part that needs a new translation is Part 5, and it's already ahead of the colored versions with the new black-and-white scans.
To make a colored translation, the group has to clean up digital Japanese scans (it's harder to do now that you have to worry about not messing up the gradients and stuff), then pick proper English fonts and colors for them. Because of that and the fact that it's only a couple of people involved per part it's taking so long, at least that's how I understood it.
I prefer the colored versions because I can easily comprehend what is going on at any given moment and not miss out on little details. Some black-and-white scans are of terrible quality and it's very easy to get confused or lost.
In fact, just today I've finished Part 2, reading the latter half of it uncolored. Despite the fact that it has been years since the manga release, some parts still look atrocious (I think they're just black-and-white scans of dichrome editions). However, some look fucking amazing uncolored ([sp]caesar's fight with wham[/sp]).
I am so ready to just read the old translation of Vento Aureo because it feels like JoJolion updates faster than the new translation.

Still, they could copy the old translations manually (reading them then writing them in their version.)
Just seems like unnecessary work to translate it again. Especially since they don't seem to be able to get through a chapter without a typo.

Just finished rewatching Part 2 after reading the manga. Now I understand why some people have their gripes with the anime - it shortens several amusing exchanges (the shit-talking vampire in the hotel, for example) and removes certain bizarre narration sequences. Those lame official blu-ray subs didn't help either.
What I will never ever understand is why people shit on Part 2 for it's "dubstep soundtrack", thankfully I haven't seen any here, but still. It's literally just three tracks at the end. Parts 1 and 2 have different tones and it makes absolute sense for them to have different soundtracks too. Part 1 has this whole epic thing going on but all I remember from it is the speedwagon theme:

Going to start reading Stardusct Crusaders soon, hopefully by the time I'm done it'll all be out on bluray.
The only thing I remember from Part 1's soundtrack is the opening.
If you shit on part 2's ost you're just wrong, it's done by Japanese composer Taku Iwasaki who's literally never done a bad soundtrack.

roundabout was an excellent choice of outro
The whole show's soundtrack is amazing. Honestly, I think the first half of Pt 3's was a little weak, but when they got to Egypt shit started to get real thematically and musically.

the fuck is that haha :ok::ok::ok:
I can already tell that reading Stardust Crusaders is goigng to be an experience.

:ok:
Marathon'd all of the episodes over the past 2 weeks.
Great show, don't really have much to say otherwise unless we all want to read a structured, 5 paragraph gradeschool essay.
Part 3 season 1 has the greatest outro of any anime I've ever watched.

Just got done binge watching the anime from start to finish, Stardust Crusaders was the hardest to finish. It makes me sad I didn't watch this series sooner. It's incredible. The animation is pretty much impeccable, the music is very thematic and the characters are so whack and memorable. Pretty much everyone in the series has something worth remembering, and especially how the fights aren't about being dumb and overpowered (Not most of the time, at least) but rather about being clever and devising a strategy around the enemy.
As far as my opinion goes, I think I'd say Jojo has probably been the most enjoyable anime I've ever watched, barring nostalgia goggles on other series.
Wait, there's animation?
But really, I wouldn't say animation was the series' strong point.
Now read the manga, it only gets better in the clever fights department.

I mainly meant that the art was extremely clean and I generally watch a lot of garbage anime with garbage animation budget. It was a step up from what I usually watch.
The drawings themselves were very good (especially in part 3) but they didn't move all that much.
Parts 1 and 2 were almost a slideshow.

Probably comes from the fact that they made the series to be as close to the manga as possible. So it would make sense that they'd put more effort into making single shots look good instead of adding motion and having the overall quality worse as a result.
No, it's just cheap. I would say parts 1 and 2 and early part 3 were the best animated. Lots of well done slow head turns and stuff that kills animators. They blew their load too early to go ham on Petshop and every fight after her. That's when the show went from being competent to lsideshow. That's also where the sound design took a huge shot in the arm though almost top the point where the animation didn't matter.
My favorite bit of animation in the series is a short shot of Alessi chasing baby polnareff through an apartment lobby *?*
It was just so bouncy and expressive and out of character for eastern tv animation
Thumb'd because long,
