Yeah, my problem was getting it going. I just don't like the concept of buying a car I'd have to learn how to drive
Well it only took like one day of practice in my car for me to learn, teaching myself.
Well I already know how to do it, I'd just have to learn where the redlines are I guess
well you don't need to rev it to the redline haha.
I didn't want to, but I'm just sayin I gotta figure out when to shift gears Since all cars are different
Don't just go to the redline that's stupid, go all the way past it [editline]26th April 2012[/editline] downshift that ho [editline]26th April 2012[/editline] redline in 4th shift to first
no thank you I'd like to keep the engine intact
no thank you I'd like to keep the engine intact
The engine will be fine, the gearbox will be in bits though
I didn't want to, but I'm just sayin I gotta figure out when to shift gears Since all cars are different
wha you're making things overly complicated for yourself here
The engine will be fine, the gearbox will be in bits though
i'm car illiterate everything under the hood is the engine transmission = engine radiator = engine wiper fluid reservoir = engine
Oh no I don't know how to shift gears! When the car sounds like it's lumpy and bogging, or high pitched and screaming!! Haha,
you should get a "normal" car
elaborate a civic seems pretty normal
elaborate a civic seems pretty normal
Civic Sports and Type Rs have the gearstick on the dash, looks cool but how is it?
"Normal" cars are boring
Get a Volvo c:
Civic Sports and Type Rs have the gearstick on the dash, looks cool but how is it?
I don't have a car yet I haven't seen the Honda and will probably go look over it and give it a quick test drive this weekend
Honestly dude, you're better off just looking and testing cars yourself. Everyone here has super strong opinions and will argue at nothing.
I don't have a car yet I haven't seen the Honda and will probably go look over it and give it a quick test drive this weekend
Like I said before, 850 / S70 turbo 230hp, 5 seats, don't attract attention, have mod support, not a civic.
i'm car illiterate everything under the hood is the engine transmission = engine radiator = engine wiper fluid reservoir = engine
If that's the case, aim for an auto. Driving a manual is easy as shit, but if you have no aspiration to learn, and don't much care about cars; there is no point.
The engine will be fine, the gearbox will be in bits though
If you consider spun bearings and bent valves to be fine.
Honestly dude, you're better off just looking and testing cars yourself. Everyone here has super strong opinions and will argue at nothing.
I am gonna look at cars I'm just window shopping on CL, I ain't buying nothing without testing it first
Honestly dude, you're better off just looking and testing cars yourself. Everyone here has super strong opinions and will argue at nothing.
In other words, 80% of people here have a boner for old cars and manuals, especially if they're combined
If that's the case, aim for an auto. Driving a manual is easy as shit, but if you have no aspiration to learn, and don't much care about cars; there is no point.
I wouldn't say I have no aspiration, it's just not at the top of my list. I should mention that I would like to avoid doing work myself, I don't have the proper space/tools for it.
I completely understand about not wanting to buy a car that already needs repairs. Like Second Gear said, just try some cars on and see what fits you.
I wouldn't mind having a bit of repairs done, like on that Honda. I do have a buddy that can do all that for pretty damn cheap. I don't give a shit about moddability or easy access to the parts inside the engine block, because unless in case of emergency I don't really want to take a wrench to it. If I want to work on a car, I want to do like a complete rebuild of a classic or something.
that white civic you were looking at is pretty bad ass
All he says is wrong is the alarm circuit is fucked, the ride is kinda bouncy and the exhaust leaks. So it's not like a tranny replacement or anything else major. I think it'd be a good thing to invest in. [editline]26th April 2012[/editline] What about this guy? http://boulder.craigslist.org/cto/2966231950.html Seems like a lot less work.
Looks a lot more icky though That's personal taste there, almost identical cars. But that hood is silly. I could live with it, but like I said, it's a taste thing. If the hood doesn't bother you it's still a good deal. And it's a true Si.
