So anyone know of any creative solutions for speakers in my car? I have an old 91' Mazda Miata and 1: The speakers are pretty much gah. 2: No way really to connect my ipod. No line in jack no CD Changer in back. Could I take old speakers and use a splitter from my ipod to the speakers and then use an adapter for the battery to the speakers? Or would that be too draining?
A friend and I put installed an iSimple IS32 into my car yesterday. It's easy to install and only cost me about $30 on ebay. It's cheaper than an aftermarket radio if all you want to do is play your MP3 player in your car.
I was shopping yesterday: [t]http://puu.sh/tCX7[/t] Hood scoop, GTI fender flares, two pieces of trim, grill spoiler and two mirrors. Driver side mirror is really bad as it is on my Golf atm. but I'm gonna take out the passenger side mirror and put in the drivers side housing which is already on the car so I get two good mirrors then keeping the housings in case I need them later. The hood scoop will look silly by it's own but not when I black out the middle area of the hood with matte black paint. I got two broken pieces of trim on the Golf now so I got replacements that are in great condition. The grill spoiler will look like this: [editline]8th May 2012[/editline] and of course I'm gonna clean the parts up and respray if necessary
What does this even have to do with cars
I'd listen to it while cruising around, music is always related!
Quick question guys Would some of these: [t]http://cdn.wheelbasealloys.com/17_Inch_Team_Dynamics_Jet_RS_Alloy_Wheels__PI_2112_86_87_591_591_600.jpg[/t] look good on this: [t]http://www.auto-power-girl.com/high-resolution-wallpapers/volkswagen-polo-mk-v/volkswagen-polo-mk-v-2010-6.jpg[/t] and if any of you are photoshop savvy, could you make a quick representation? I've bee eyeing up these alloys for a while and I might buy them if my insurance company lets me. [editline]8th May 2012[/editline] 17" Team Dynamics Jet RS and a 2010 VW Polo for reference
Yes they will because they look sporty which a Polo kind of is and the red stripe resembles the GTI look and what the fuck do you mean by this: What does rims have to do with insurance?
Britain bro. Britain.
Is every single insurance company in Britain insane?
Yeah, they're goddamn Nazi's over here. I think the only thing that I can change without telling my insurance is the radio [editline]8th May 2012[/editline] Even a spoiler man, a fucking spoiler [editline]8th May 2012[/editline] *wing, sorry :v:
Why do you have to tell them when you change the rims? Seems really odd.
Increases the value of the car, increases the risk of it getting stolen. Personally, I think it's a scam, but its the law so what can you do....
It's required by law but isn't regulated by the law, of course it's insane
Some insurers go as far as to refuse to insure people under 25 on modified cars, and buying a new set of rims for a car counts as a modification. I was worried my insurer has this policy.
Well that's just retarded. "Want your car to look better? No way, you're under 25! Haa!"
Pretty much. I hope I can still enjoy cars when I'm old and grey, because thats the only time I'll be able to insure a decently powerful car :(
Or you can move to amurrica and do stuff like this: and them insurance companies wont give a flying shit. America: where "why" is replaced by "why the fuck not"

check engine light on accord popped on my mother said, took it to autozone just to get code read, some sleezey guy in the back says "Need mechanic?" the second i pull into parking space at autozone (It's autozones parking lot). Said need my code read and he reads the code and tells me it was a random misfire, checks my spark plugs and says yeah valve cover gasket, plugs, wiring for plugs are shot which is completely true looking at it myself. Plugs covered in oil from the leak and plugs are corroded at the ends. I told him i have my own mechanic do the work and he asks for 10$ just for checking the code and taking a spark plug out. Get the fuck out of here and is bitching how some other guy never came back. He does the work in autozones parking lot and only has a business account with them and nothing else not related with them. Not going back
You only really have to tell the insurance company when you A) Change the color of your car B) Buy a new car
Eh, you'd probably also have to tell them if you do an engine swap. I don't think they'd be too pleased if a person says their Honda Civic has a stock engine when it has a LS2 in it, then wrecks it.
the way i understand it: has civic > gets insurance > swaps in ls1 (doesnt tell insurance) > wrecks > gets check for stock civic value has civic > gets insurance > swaps in ls1 (tells insurance, rates go up) > wrecks > gets check for value WITH ls1
That's exactly how it works.

However this involves days upon days of work but this implies that that the owner was able to swap an LS2 into a Civic or similar.
