Only sticking to older cars is a horrible idea, and you mentioned it yourself "Its you and your tastes". Telling someone to get an older car when they're looking for newer ones is never a good idea.
So you are saying in theory, buying a fully loaded well maintained BMW that is 6+ years old for the price of a new base hyundai or kia is a bad idea?
There was some episode on top gear about this, buying new vs used.

it's not a question on new vs used
it's a question of 15-20 years old vs 5-10 years old
I guess I had a bad example, I just am saying a well maintained used car is better than quite a few new cars.
IN MY OPINION

I know what you mean, better value for money.
I funking LOVE the way it feels when you rev match a gear perfectly.
I just bought my brother a 1.9L Diesel Renault Clio for his 18th birthday.
... My poor savings.
He's going to be well happy, He passed his test a few days ago.
What a badass brother. I want to own a low displacement diesel to see what it's like.
Speaking of low displacement diesel engines, this thing is fucking awesome.

and i want to own one.
why
because it's like when my mom asks me to get her a computer, i know she'll fuck up a PC and constantly ask me questions on how to use it so I just say get a Mac even though I hate them

Wait wait, you bought your brother a car? Wow, you are fucking generous.
I mean, I gave my sister my old car, but that thing only cost me $500. C:
Shopping for new visors for my Blazer.. why does everyone think that a piece of plastic + mirror is worth $60, holy shit
but the market is saturated with older cars and besides I'm not getting like a Renault for my first car
Parts are abundant with older cars too (and it's not like they mean 1970/80's old, a 1997 is still 15 years old)
1990+ Isn't old to me, I meant like, 89' and older. The late 70's through the 80's were a pretty shit era for vehicles. FWD cars that shouldn't be FWD. V8's with the power that a small I4 has today.

Oh, I agree with you there, I thought you meant like 90s Asia and Euro cars.
So I'm thinking of sticking a turbo on my 1.8L 90HP engine in my VW Scirocco any thoughts?

Looked at a 1996 VW Golf (1.9 Diesel also) but there was more rust than car :v: - Apart from that it looked great and was (probably) mechanically sound. Full electric pack. I doubt he'd got a year out of it with the state of the bodywork though.
There was also a 2002 Rover 25 (2.0L Turbo Diesel) that was very, very smart looking. BMW engine and full electric pack and A/C in a cool gold colour. Same price as the Clio. Near to no rust and a clean service history.
His insurance dictated the Clio however. I'd have picked the Rover, I've always liked rover interiors :P

Please do, 90bhp in a 1.8 is shocking(?), I guess if its very torquey then it's alright
Ferosso make a new drift movie with this sound track in it, it would KICK ASS

Please <3
UGH.
For some reason I might keep the 240 for another week or two at the shop. It's been almost a month since I got it and I haven't even driven it yet. They have to order parts and ship it, you know how long it takes
He can't seem to find any new OEM tension rods for the suspension system, (obviously how old the car is). I want to get some cheapo Godspeed or Megan brand rods for the meantime, but I don't have $100 to blow. It sucks being poor. Knowing the shop, they'll get the shitty OEM's anyway and charge us up the butt with it being $100-200.

Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck. Ever sence I got my car it had a slight chunk in the transmission.
It has gotten worse. Louad noises.

Stop doing shitties in the Walmart parking lot
I found the original price tag for my blazer in its handbook. It was 26k back in 1993, and apparently, came with a locking rear axle. No wonder it's such a pain to turn. And I found some receipts in the handbook as well. It was bought in Tennessee. It's been to California. It's been to Canada. It's been to Florida. This truck has seen some shit, and it warms my heart to see that.
Oh, and it got 13 mpg new :v:

The no-overlap when you turn the wheel (like nowadays, you can turn the wheel twice over) really fucks me over. The rear has good turning though
Fuk. I taught it was going to be something half ass easy. My step dad looked at it.
We came to the realization of the torque converter.
This is bad. Who wants a 99 Audi A6 with a bad tranny for 3k?

Buy a Blazer, join the club
You can put a new converter in without having to touch the tranny; Other than dropping it and pulling the converter off the shaft, obv. Helluva lot cheaper than replacing the whole tranny AND converter.
Got word from good mechanic. He's replaced the frayed ignition wires and put new iridium spark plugs. Differential gear fluid and transmission gear fluids are drained and replaced.
Now the only things left are the adjustable tension rods and the speed sensor/speedometer cluster. Last thing left to do is find a driver's seat from a junked S13 or S14 and rotate the wheels. Should be another week or two D:
