I arrived at work today and some dude parked right next to me in a Audi All-road.
He got out kinda puttered around his car (Waiting for me to get out of the car).
I got out and we had a small chat. And thin he sayed "The main reason I came over here to talk to you is I want to buy your car."
I replied "What's your Offer?"
He sayed "2k"
I loled and proseded to walk away.
He grabbed my attention and sayed "I was really hoping you would take my offer you treat this car like a piece of shit. Flooring it, Braking hard,Throwing it around corners."
I kinda looked at him like *smart ass look* I replied "Because race car" And walked away as I locked my car.
Long story about a dude in his 20's wanting my car.... Plus offering 2k? DA FUCK its worth 4k parted out!
Wow, what an ass

"someone i'm trying to buy their car from doesn't want to talk to me, better be an absolute dickhole and call his car shit!"
Anyway, In my area, it seems like as soon as rain touches the ground, they forget how to fucking drive.

And this blazer doesn't have the shortest breaking distance, I can't tell you how many mother fuckers I have almost T-boned this week because they pulled out in front of me without enough room. And not to mention the people who cut in front of me, tailgate me (i break check them, they will probably go under my truck and hit the axle though so i shouldn't do that to much) and just generally dick about.
It's 10:20 at night, I'm not about to go out and look at the timing belt?

you're supposed to ask these questions before you buy the car, I doubt you're gonna find out how old it is by looking at it

I can 2nd this. Wile working at Walmart on a rainy day its like left and right some one is sliding around,
doing burnouts, and generally having fun. Lets not go into detail about Friday night Tocobell tray people ;_;
But I treat my car with love and devotion. I make it do some tuff stuff. But you know what! I hate the brake rotors and brake pads on my car, and I need new tires and rims so I don't care!
And about flooring it. I pay out the ass for 93 octane and occasionally 104 octane :v:
Is the timing belt cover at least easily accessible, so I can take it off and make sure it's in good condition?
I know on my KA24E, it involved removing all the pulleys, belts and fans as well as hoses and clutch fan assembly same with water pump and valve cover to even get access to that area. It might be something you should take to a pro.
Also protip, I skipped the dumb lines on the DMV by going to my AAA insurance branch. Usually your insurance can take care of your registration. I got mine done in a minute compared to DMV
Justin, that's a nice set of wheels btw. Jelly
you can probably see the timing belt by just taking the cover off at one end of the engine, it's usually at the end that the transmission isn't on.
Found these on patrol. Want.

You pull your valve cover and check tension from there, shiban. There's enough room on a KA24 to see how much slack is in it from up there.
You also have a chain, not a belt, but I assume you knew this. Or at least hope you did.
timing chain master race.
Oh hey guys, sorry for randomly dropping in but I'd like some advice:
http://link.marktplaats.nl/539672036
That car needs replacing of a wheel bearing soon and also the electric windows on the side don't work but it's a problem in the cables, because if he connects the motor directly to something they do work.
I'm looking to spend not much more than €1300,- on the car (I don't really have much more), insurance is €70,- per year on this thing so that's a major plus, also no road-taxes cause it's an oldtimer.
That car is going to need a timing belt replacement, I fucking know it. Last time someone tried to sell a porchse around me they didnt mention it didn't a new belt and that could have ended the engine
Mileage is also suspiciously close to 100.000, I know BMW e30s need a replacement every 50.000 Km or so, might be the same with this one.
But then again, his reason for selling it is that he's had it for almost a year and hasn't driven it much.

Yeah figured, but if you're gonna do that much, might as well remove the timing chain cover. To check for chewed up parts like the guides or cracked stuff.

With any previously used car, you will be paying for repairs and maintenance anyway. I'd say spend the money and go for it. You already have the costs figured out
Do most of your mates here all share your interest with cars? Could say I've got quite a big circle of friends but my only one other mate is as interested in cars as me but he lives 200 miles away and only comes up once a month or so. Going to car shows with the girlfriend just ain't the same.
The only person I hang out with (not many to begin with :( ) that likes cars almost as much as I do is my cousin. And even then, I'm way more interested in the internals then he is.
The only friends I have that are the least bit interested in cars are the types that believe if its sexy, its fast, and if its ugly or rusty its a piece of shit.
Atleast my father and step-father know a thing or two about cars.

I'm kind in the same boat. Many of my friends believe if it isn't a lifted diesel truck, it's a piece of shit. Basically, anything other than what they have is a piece of shit. If your truck runs on gas or is anything other than a Dodge/Ford/Chevy, to them it's shit. It doesn't matter that a brand new 3/4 ton truck with a gas engine has more power than their ageing and outdated diesels, it's shit. The new diesels are shit too(unless one of them gets to drive one, or has parents with one, then it's the greatest truck in the world). You may think I'm saying shit alot, but that is the word they use. Every time.
They really aren't people I associate with anymore, to them cars are about looks and diesels. The rest of my friends just enjoy their cars and are proud of them, whether it's a Mustang, Tacoma, or a Prius. The only people I know who actually care about the interals and capabilties of a vehicle are my father and his brother.

I already had mechanics look at it and the seller didn't know if it was changed or not, but said the previous owner was a Honda enthusiast so there's a good chance.
Hey guys, I just got some graduation money and now I can finally afford something! I was wondering if anything caught anyone's eye, I have no idea what a good first car would be.

Thats my craigslist, definitely have a $2000 limit, but not a bad selection it seems. These seemed decent:

Any thoughts?
My mechanic has proven himself to be incompetent today. Went in without any problems aside from overheating, it came out with a check engine light. What. He also told me that my 240sx "has no thermostat so you don't need that new thermostat." Really
Wow, ok. At this point, pretty pissed so I visited a nearby tuner shop. Freaking awesome. Their parking space is filled with 240sx's and assorted Nissans like five 300zx's and 350z's. There was a track-star S14 Kouki being worked on by a Japanese dude named Mike. Made friends and he showed me around. There's another 240sx being worked on inside. The only downside about this shop is that they don't offer payment plans because I'm pretty damned poor.
I thought about it and I should work on my own car and save myself the money. My current mechanic messed up the timing and wants to sell me stuff I don't really need.

I don't have a lot of tuner friends, let alone loyal friends. But I do have a couple I keep in touch with because they live in different states as well as in Canada, those know a thing or two about S13's. I see tuner chicks a lot and I don't know how to be friends with em, only talked to one and she drives a Honda Fit.
I need to bug my friend to go to drift events as well as parking lot events so I could get in touch with the local scene around here. Check out how crazy the car gangs are at Burbank:

I know, I meant that if you're going to be removing all that stuff anyway, you're only a few steps away from the timing chain cover. Valve cover is indeed easy, my KA24E had a loose one when I got it
timing chain master race.
fuckye
chains are way better than belts in longevity, but also much more of a bitch to change. On the Honda I can put a new timing belt on in ~10 minutes (I don't run a cover), on the toyota the chain would be a few hour affair.
On a small block like yours they aren't too bad. I've done a few of those in the past month, the hard part is pulling radiator/fan/waterpump. These being the L05 350, the accessories weren't over the cover, so it was super easy to pop it off there once you got that stuff away and popped the balancer off.
So then, with my expertise, do you think I could change the belt on an F22? Or should I not even risk it and take it to a mechanic. I'm more than open to trying, there's only one way you get better at auto mechanics :v:
