Steer clear of larger vehicles, they often kick up pebbles and other things you don't want to fly into your windshield On a side note, anyone else get a mini heart attack seeing one of these in front of them?
There was a Civic and a Nissan something or other in front of me. both sedans, I dunno what kicked it up :O
woke up early as fuck for school left and went north instead of south for about an hour fucking mack truck goes by towards me BANG shit pants and then my grand am had a GIANT chip in the windshield.
Sweet, got my low comp pistons and thick con rods :D
My windshield getting hit wasn't pretty. Going 80mph across tappenzee and BANG a giant peice of metal slammed into the passanger side of my windshield. Girlfriend behind it. Dunno where it came from.
Drove my friends 74 VW Bettle today, was fun. The thing would not stay running at idle witch made shifting more... exciting. At stop sign, put in first LOLNOPE REVERSE find first, start taking off and get speed. Switch to 2nd LOLNOPE MAGICAL REVERSE rannnggggeee find 2nd wile engine is dead, pop cluch to make engine crank back up, find 3rd LOLNOPE 1ST fuuuccckkk. Find 4th? W00T 4TH! after I got the hang of the magical reverse gears I got it down. But 1st to 2nd always gave me hell. And it would die... every time we would stop ;_; But cruising around 40mph down back roads looking at country side in a classic car was worth it.
reason number like 4 why owning a car is awesome when you sleep late like a fucktard food is only minutes away

Picked up a reinforced lower rad hose and a dollar of reinforced fuel line. Checked the vacuum hoses today and tightened them. Check engine light gone, oh yeah rev happy monster after all that gunk being filtered now with the bigger one
Did you rip any sikk skids yet cunt?
My car has been eating gas like a motherfucker lately. I used to be able to last a week on 20 bucks of gas, now it only takes 3-4 days to use up 20 dollars of gas. Could a dead o2 sensor be the culprit?
^ I use to be getting 24mpg, Now I get 16mpg. O2 sensors failed, cat's failed, MAF Failed, and a misfire CEL on bank 1 and 4. Issue? I think not. The car ran WAY TO RICH one one day. Fouled out 2 plugs and ruined the Cats and all sensors in the exhaust.

Vacuum lines? Fuel filter lol? Fuel pump? Sparkplugs/wiring
oh god i hope my cat doesn't fail
Friend got a high-flow cat. Maybe straight pipe it lol
Did you rip any sikk skids yet cunt?
I tried. All I got was cracking sounds from my scary spiderweb windshield
oh god i hope my cat doesn't fail apparently cat failure is common for 2003 2.5 nissan altimas, and ill be pretty fucked if my cat fails me and takes the engine with it. probably gonna replace it when i get the money
Cat failuries don't instantly or make engines go bad fast, Constant times even almost every day my mechanic will be inspecting cars and from the past year there cat failed after inspection or just past and then failed after and went a year without a new cat and just get a new one next time. The honda we have cat is pretty much not going to pass inspection so I'm replacing it within the next month or two.

But only thing is a nice CEL that will never go away ;_; Also did I say fucking cat's are 600$ each for mine...... 1200$ in cats I THINK NOT! ^ Thoes are for Magna Flows. OEM's are 1000$ each... no joke.
fuck cats
I'll probably get an aftermarket cat, seeing as the OEM cats have had problems im gonna steer clear of them plus ill get a whopping +1 horsepower to my car!

I don't know the shifting pattern for a 74 Beetle but on mine it's like this: __1_3 R_2_4 You also have to push the lever down to get it into reverse
Sorry if this isn't the right thread for this, but here goes: I found a VW bus in decent condition, although it needs a new distributor and has some pretty severe rust damage in areas. How much do you think it would cost to repair/restore? Good luck getting that for cheap in an auction on ebay.
Horrible cancer frame rust everywhere, not worth it imo. Lotsa money mang
I hope I didn't mishear the auto glass repair people and took today off for no reason. :v: [editline]6th June 2012[/editline] of course all I have to do is bitch about it on FP and then I get a call saying they're running late and they'll be here in an hour :v:

well, not JUST for that, I have to take my cat to the vet. But yeah, they just came by, said they actually managed to salvage the molding and they said that was the 2nd time in 17 years that's happened with a Prelude :v: So it ended up costing $260 after tax [editline]6th June 2012[/editline] I guess while I'm not doing anything I'll go see if I can pop off the timing belt cover and inspect for obvious signs of wear (cracks, worn teeth etc). Maybe I'll post a pic of the new windshield in that thread where you post your car. I dunno

I dunno
With my last e36 when I got a new windshield I went with some no-name company and they showed up in a Chrysler minivan. All my coworkers gave me shit and said I'd regret going cheap, (only $200!) but the windshield seemed find to me. This time I was able to afford Safelite, so I went with them, and it was $280. I honestly can't find a difference in quality either, and they kind of ruined the plastic molding at the bottom of the window.
well the guys I hired is a company owned by my neighbor and the parent of an old friend, so I'm not worried about the quality at all :v: I'd hose it off to check the seal but they still have the tape on so the glue can stick. Also, I don't have enough balls to open my timing belt cover. But based on the wear on the bolts it looks like it was taken off at least once, so that's a good sign

It won't hurt anything to run without it for a couple days. In all honesty, you're never going to have any confidence working on your car if you find the timing cover intimidating.
It's not the actual cover I'm worried about, it's the tube that's secured to the top of it as well as the shit next to it I'd be worried of breaking Also, funny story. I had no idea Hondas had the cooling fan kick on after the engine was turned off, so I was moderately puzzled when it kicked on last evening after I had returned home from work. I let it run for a few minutes thinking it was harmless and it turns out it was :v:
Dood, my dad freaked out because I got like 3 huge packages today. 100 pounds in stuff. Got a full engine head, Intercooler parts, various other parts.
