I almost knew that feel, I swear that bitches CRV would be burnt to a fucking crisp right now if i had gotten any damage from hitting the curb.
My friend Carlos just got his Lumina Z34 going a while back, took it to a nearby Walmart to test it out and he parked really far away. After a brief trip inside he comes back to find the front of his car smashed to shit. Took him about a week but he managed to track the guy down and he got $5000 from them. Was pissed all day after it though, he just got the car all done and that was the first real drive.
Checking out the dart tomorrow with my grandpa and cousin, I'm so excited.
Car in question: http://alberta.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-cars-1967-Dodge-Dart-GT-W0QQAdIdZ384778899
So hey if I plea bargain in court do you think I could get the charge reduced? Considering all the damage was on my car and I was trying to avoid an accident in the first place. I hit the guy, yeah, but his car was fine, I've had a clean record for 2 years and it wasn't serious.
I'm only asking since apparently a careless driving offense is a misdemeanor, and I don't want jail time or hefty fines :v:
you know I did a little reading on what thermostats actually do and sometimes if you don't have one it can cause overheating because the coolant doesn't stay in the radiator long enough to actually cool down
there's a reason I wrote (hopefully)
that is possible, true, if the housing is big enough it wont really stay there for long.
I get tired of seeing the same comments on youtube over and over for years on end.

Slowly every paycheck I've been spending money replacing parts on my Scirocco, I just got the valve cover and the timing belt cover painted a nice blue. :3

Ya I just spent an afternoon and it turned out pretty good.
The bad part is you can see in the last pic it started raining and I had to wait for a clear spot to install the cover.
Got in car this morning to go to work. Turned on my AC my windshield cracked end to end. Shit.

Everyone has a cracked windshield. At least yours doesn't make scary crackling sounds when you do madd tyte cornering teknik yo
I may be getting a 2000 BMW 323ci, it looks absolutely beautiful.

I'm just worried about is repairs, but the guy seems like he took REALLY good care of it. Apparently BMW's are supposed to last forever.
The only thing is, is that he doesn't have a title ATM, but he said he's getting one on monday.
Chevrolet El Camino SS for sale a block away from me, Sadly the main thing that turns me off is the fact it's one of those "Plop down and dissapear dealers". A trailer for an office and alot of cars with no history and not so good prices.
I drove by a few times couldn't get a parking space since it's a busy street. Going to attempt to get some pictures and talk to the dealer about it though.
This but a darker blue

ha! That sucks.
Dropped my headliner and fucked with the sunroof motor.
Good: It now opens and goes back
Bad: It goes forwards but doesn't shut all the way. Right as it is supposed to go down it goes into a bind and won't budge on one side, even if i try and guide it myself. Hand cranking it won't even make it go down, something isn't moving and i know where it is just not how to get to it.
Good: No forcasted rain anytime soon in the next year. Yay desert.

uh... that's not good. It means your unibody is getting weak. You should get your car checked out.

I probably should, these 240 hatchbacks are known to have body sway. But my car practically has no rust, it's just the windshield crackling due to the huge spiderweb on it
Also, my car isn't overheating anymore. The thermostat and new hoses work perfectly. Now my injectors are messing with the car. The rubber rings are worn and if you wiggle it a bit, it misfires and the cylinder stops firing. Can be the wires too. Perhaps the timing, I would be sitting at 750RPM then it jumps to 2K

Trip to the junkyard :)
It shouldn't be too hard to do, remove them from a junker, and replace on your car.
I was backing out of my grandmothers driveway today and I meant to hit the brakes and ended up like flooring it in reverse
it was terrifying
My co-workers saw that I was in a bad mood today and they pulled a prank on me at lunch.
They called me on lunch and claimed that my car leaked water all over the place.
I sayed "Alright i will be there in a second." Here I am shitting bricks. I use my Manger key to open the fire door I park right next to, so I see 3 of my co-workers standing by my car.
And whole and betold.

Water resadue, I look up under the car. Nothing. Looked every were under that fucking car.
Started the car, NOTHING. Check if It even lost any water. NOPE sayed VAGCOM.
I looked at the guys and sayed "Alright who was the motherfucker that got my bumper wet."
(Some of the water was left on the bumper when they tried to slash it under the car)
They all ran away laughing. :tinfoil:
Someone shot the back of my Camaro with I think a BB gun. Now there's a noticeable dent there. Argh.
This isn't the first time something bad has happened at my house. A couple years ago, someone egged my house and a couple years after that, it was egged again.
What the fuck does people have against this house?
I feel your pain, on my front fenders (Yes both, there are BB dents.)
And about two weeks ago, on a fine morning going to work at 4h50AM, something made me angry, an EGG was in my rear window.
And then on my front bumper there are the marks of a gray car that backed off and slid around the edge, and then there's the slight square of a hitch that bent my front bumper a bit.
So i got my sunroof working ~90%, it'd go down with a little nudge and shut perfect.
Then my dad comes along and says OH THIS LOOKS LIKE IT COULD BE THE PROBLEM! *snap*
So now I'm back to square one, only now i can't fix it. So if i can ever even get it to go back down before it rains, I'll never be able to open it again without facing the same problem and having to take it all back apart. New assembly? $500. For a little aluminum tab about the size of half of your pinky fingernail. On one side of the assembly. $500.
I know he's just trying to help but jesus fuck man, this has got to be at LEAST the 3rd time he's broken something and I've had to go out of my way to try and fix it, with mixed results. He means well but every time he touches this thing he breaks something.
[editline]9th June 2012[/editline]
And it's not like i can just buy the little piece the tab is attached to. Oohhhh no, i gotta buy the whole goddamn fucking sunroof.
I have a BB gun dent on the side of my blazer from the fucking idiot redneck owner shooting it. Why? Could be the lack of genes, could be his sister was riding him and he got bored, could have been beer n NASCAWR WOOO!! or the combination of them all.
My whole drivers side of the car is littered with bb gun dents, and as you all probably know one of them smashed my window.
[editline]9th June 2012[/editline]
But i think someone has a grudge against me, seeing as how I've had multiple instances of shit happening to my car, not just a couple freak accidents throughout the years.
The thing that i think angers me most is that they are too fucking pussy to say something to my face, so they take it out on my car. So help me, if i ever find/catch someone. Scum of the earth is what they are, I'd be doing everyone a favor.
in good news, I replaced the windshield wipers on my car with properly fitting ones. works nice.
not that I'll be using the wipers anytime soon, but :v:
Oh, and based on the damage to my car, can I get away with buying a door shell? everything still works, lock, buttons, window motor, it's just slightly bent. Obviously my shell is trashed but I'm wondering if some decent body shop couldn't reshape the frame and transfer the guts over.
I'm no expert but here's what i'm thinking I'm looking at, by priority.
1) Door replacement/fix
2) Fender reshaping/replacement
3) Potential wheel alignment
So, like, probably $1,500 in labor charges alone :/
Bad news.
Took the 240 for a night ride and it reached critical coolant heat levels. Turns out I most likely will need a new headgasket. Half the oil has been burned away and or leaking from the oil pan gasket. There's oil in the coolant. Not only that, the injector #1 has some issues, causing cylinder #1 to shut off or misfire.
So much dumb problems with this car. It doesn't even help that my dad gives me shit everyday for it, considering the fact that it was a birthday present. Why even give that present with psychological abuse everyday?

"OH ITS OVERHEATING?! WOW I THOUGHT YOU FIXED THAT ALREADY! YOURE SO SMART BUT YOU STILL FUCKED UP."

Not even. Best you can do is buy a fender and a new door+guts for a few hundred change then put it together yourself. Worst that could happen is the paint won't match.

Well, that's assuming all the damage is in the fender and the door. But I've driven it *very* lightly since and it still runs without any new knocks, rattles, screeches or leaks so that's a pretty good sign in and of itself.
But, y'know, a fender replacement doesn't seem daunting, and the door could be pretty easy too. However I am most worried about the damage seen here

I haven't really had a chance to look at it since it's in the garage tucked up against some stuff to protect it against, well, anything since the door won't seal, but i'm hoping that's just some kind of skirt and not connected to the frame in any way
Do note that by saying it won't be as costly as I'm imagining you're taking one hell of a load off my mind
[editline]10th June 2012[/editline]
So let's say I pick up this door
http://boulder.craigslist.org/pts/3001913094.html
and try to get a fender from this fellow
http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/3066169091.html
I think I'd probably be good at 100 bucks (generously rounded) for parts, and I'm 80% sure I could figure all the shit out myself with a little research, so most of the costs I'd be estimating would be paintjobs

Pop the fender off and start digging into it and if you see anything which looks bent or off, it probably is. The damage looks mostly cosmetic as the body panels are rather thin. Buying both of those couldn't set you back any as you can always flip them off for about the same price or more. Stuff is going to most likely be off by a little bit but unless you are specifically looking for damage you won't see it much. I'm a little concerned about the door which you might have to have professionally aligned or something but you can normally adjust them quite a bit which should be able to handle that just fine.
However you might have a slight blessing in disguise, if it's painted Milano Red(R-81 inside the door jam) it probably looks like absolute shit pink by now and you've already been thinking about getting it repainted which now puts this at a priority now. :v:
I'm pretty sure mine was hit in the door or something since the jam was repainted but it had to have been so long ago that I literally didn't notice until 2 years after I bought it when I was cleaning the door jams. All the stickers were removed and the vin sticker was painted over despite in the past having messed with the lock mechanism and all the adjustments for it because it always worked it's self loose. It closes just fine now and it just needs a very slight force compared to the passenger door which closes in the most perfect way possible. You'll probably at most just be stuck with "that fucking drivers door" which you have to do a magical ritual and clap 3 times to close sometimes.
it is, in fact, milano red. ain't too pink yet, but yeah, I might just get the whole thing painted since it's really worn out for its time
I can already tell ya the door's gonna need adjustment, you gotta pull it up for the clasp to even align properly so the latch and lock can connect.
