okay mr. rustimopmtus does this mean i should be looking for a different bug
That rust looks pretty bad, Grind down to bare metal if there is even any left after going getting rid of it all or probably new panel/cut peice of metal to replace that part that is rusted to fuck. It's a body job for sure.
okay mr. rustimopmtus does this mean i should be looking for a different bug
Not entirely. He is lieing to you. Stop there.
Find a owner that wont finger you. The rust on it is repairable. (From what I see)
A little grinding and bondo and your good.
(Plus think of it this away, if that is rusted What Else is rusted and or repaired with out him telling you)

guy has this one listed as a 1973 beetle, doesn't this dash style make it a super beetle (or is it the other way around)?

Rust is almost unavoidable for cars that age. Maybe if you found an immaculate one. Prepare to pay out for repairs.
Also, good news. Girlfriend left a voicemail and the guy with the 240sx can let go for $1,8. Hah, the voice does the trick.

what do you mean? if it's immaculate why would I pay out for repairs?

I know you don't own it, I'm just saying it's body work. And honestly If he lies about that he's probably going to lie about alot more shit internally.

Depends where it has been kept. Cars from climates where there is little rain and no ocean tend to not rust nearly as much, if at all.
I personally wouldn't buy it. I just hate people that lie to my face, and that guy clearly is. :/

Read again guys
Don't know which is a better deal. Gray 240 with 250K+ miles and auto converted to manual. Then a light blue 240 with 235K+ miles and factory manual. Both immaculate. Both cheap. Wonder which to get

I can't figure out why this one is so damn cheap, any ideas?
Why i hope it's so cheap - Guy got lucky on the car buy and found or already had parts to fix it up
Why it's probably cheap - it needs something that he isn't mentioning intill you go look at the car

Dat color.
Go look at it, never can tell by pic's.
When I first saw my audi on craigslist list I was like meh station wagon.
When I sat in it and drove it I fell in love with it. And I still do every time it decides to crank.
also, what about http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/cto/3047554401.html

well it's several hours away so if I could eliminate it before driving there that would be wonderful lol
[editline]25th June 2012[/editline]
and yes the color is making my eyes bleed too lol
Any tricks for superficial scratches? I got a lot of them on the trunk of my CVPI when someone drove with a stack of cones on the back.
They are not deep, but I dont want to do any 'real' painting. (Or fill out a maintenance report)
anyone?

The red one looks better. But I hate those chrome things beside the front bumper and the rear "backup lights" is a no go for me.
anyone?
Take a orbital buffer. Use heavy buffing wax. Buff. Use polishing wax. Polish. Shinny? !=Shinny Repeat until you figure out it wont work or you give up.
Girlfriend is arguing that a monthly on a new boring-ass Corolla ecobox is cheaper than getting a 240 fixer for $1,500.
I told her it's either $15,000 or $1,500 + repairs. She's worried about spending money and not being able to use the car until it's fixed. Why do I even have this girlfriend and why do I have to point this out....
The red one looks better. But I hate those chrome things beside the front bumper and the rear "backup lights" is a no go for me.
I agree but I'm still going to contact the guy about it, I'd rather deal with those "features" assuming no other bugs came around
Also, I dont think that buffering it will fix it. This shit (after actually inspecting it) is down to the primer. Fuck.

all this.. because of a stack of fucking cones.
