do you need a memo or something
sarcasm unless explicitly stated is lost through the internet
My next car is definitely going to be a BMW. Probably a late 90s/early 2000s 3 series, I'll try to get one in dark blue. Dark blue is a badass color for BMWs
I wouldn't mind owning a 1966 Pontiac GTO (don't tell my other dodges this, they'll flip)

I agree'd, but on a further note, the fox SVO is still more dear to me than the "meh" generation F-body.

I guess when I'm being sarcastic, I need giant flashing letters at the end that say "sarcasm" (I thought the questionable grammar the obvious fallacies would hint to that).

doubt it's an R/T, considering only around ~18% of 1970 Challengers were the R/T (This includes convertibles, so the chances of a hardtop R/T are likely around ~17%) and even if it IS the R/T, there is little chance for a Hemi car (only 356 Challengers were ordered with the Hemi in 1970, few of them were R/Ts!).
Really, R/T is absolutely bunk for a Challenger. The Challenger you want is the T/A, the baddest of bad boys. 340/sixpack lightweight track cars.
...unless you want to be Kowalski, then you want a plain white R/T with the 440. :)

That looks like a Triumph engine. Is it?

Not if I email him first! I got 3k just laying around and I would love a 1970 Challenger
nvm, 100% sure it is a Triumph engine, or at least 99% similar to the 1500 used in the Spitfire.

Fucking classic shit
http://tulsa.craigslist.org/cto/3099229242.html
Still probably my favorite Datsun, as this Maxima (1980-1984) is actually still the Datsun 810, and 1984 was the only year a "Nissan" badge was added to this generation.
It's essentially a 240Z in a box. Really.
Oh man I am so close to fixing my stereo. It works now, but whenever I start up my car, it starts up for a couple of seconds and then shuts off. Not enough power maybe?
[editline]2nd July 2012[/editline]
Holy shit it works!! Turns out there just wasn't enough power so I had to move the ground wire to an area with more metal, there's still not enough power for radio but at least I have cd and aux!
Oh man I am so relieved
Goddamnit I have a brand new, reliable, luxurious car with plenty of power
Why do I want so badly a $3000 car from the 80s or a 40 year old potential rust bucket

Everyone loves the classics man
Eh I'll get one one day. It should be like one of my lowest priorities right now
Ahhahahaha there was a runaway semitruck at walmart, it's on the local news right now :v:
im having a new car problems.
i am getting a new job making 5-7 an hour more, it is 108 mile round trip instead of my 130 mile round trip.
but my trip now is all 45-55mph 2 lane roads, my new is 65mph 4 lane all the way. well minus about 5 miles each way 2 lane.
my 81 toyota 4wd with is 4.88 gears and 31's turns 3k at 65 mph.. it does great on the 45-55 mph current trip but gets 18-20 mpg. that y i have the 06 shadow 600 dlx and the now legal 81 cm400e. both get 55ish mpg.
i wont need 4x4 like i did on my mountainous drive. so i want a new car. i want manual, aux input, a/c, cruise. in that order.
i have been looking at cars. test drove all but the veloster and cr-z.
1st a brz manual but only gets 30mpg. 26k
2nd a base veloster manual 18k 40highway
3rd a base yaris manual 15k 38 highway
4th a cr-z manual 19-20k 37 highway
5th prius c two. 21k 48 highway
those are all sticker prices not trying to haggle yet.
the ideal of fun vrs the idea of saving money.
in a month at 50 mpg i would use at 4 a gallon 198 bucks in gas
at 40 mpg 248 bucks
at 38mpg 259bucks
at 30 mpg 331 bucks
18mpg = 552 bucks
im thinking volester or yaris..i really liked the brz i drove but for what i need its too much and bad gas milage.....comments?
and also thinking of sell my pickup for what i have in it.
I just fell in love with the most unexpected vehicle.
Turbo'd 3800 FTW. If only it could get that power to the ground better lol.

um where is the airfilter on that turbo.
Hmm i was gonna say Fender-well Intake, but looking at other pictures I guess he has none.
um where is the airfilter on that turbo.
:|
A lot of people don't run filters.
When just about anything collides with a steel blade travelling at around 100,000-120,000 RPM (for larger turbos, smaller turbos can reach 150,000 RPM or higher!) it gets vaporized.

I too like particulates getting into my engine.
turbo's blades get vaporized yeah
*shrug*
I've run tons of turbos with and without filters. Have never had any problems out of any of them.
Generally the idea is to avoid driving your turbocharged vehicle anywhere that particles might get into the uppermost part of the engine bay (gravel roads, dirt roads, hitting obstacles like tree limbs in the road, etc.).
-snip-
Again, you're not supposed to drive through a gravel pit. Come on guys.
Also, smog? Really?
[editline]3rd July 2012[/editline]
well, you snipped but still.
Also, I already have to avoid driving the Civic in pretty much all those places even sans-turbo, since I don't run a timing cover. Loose pebbles and twigs could destroy my timing belt.
It's all about taking care to drive your car. Being responsible.

So in other words, anywhere that isn't a public road.

None the less, a air filter is still vital to maintaining performance and extending the lifetime of the individual parts in the engine. Also with a highly balanced high rpm engine the slightest particle could really throw off the whole process of internal combustion. The increased cfm's of a filter-less system just don't outweigh the extended lifetime and lowered maintenance cost, to me anyway.
-edit-
Even with a unfiltered air intake you will still be restricted by the bottleneck that will occur once you hit the throttle bodies, the difference of airflow once the air is used in combustion is really minimal if you use a high flow filter.
--edit--
I suppose in a FI application it would be easier to compress the air, however most applications including a filter could easily create the target pressures of air, The only real reason for not using a filter would be if you were using a pressure level above what is available with a filter and not many engines could handle the pressures mentioned
---edit---
Either way you could have dual air intakes before the turbo to provide a high level of flow, so it seems that not using a filter is only the cheap option, not the smart one.
Not trying to offend you or anything
No offense taken, I'm just kind of confused that people are freaking out about people not running filters on their turbo setups, when it's done all the time. Generally, though, it's due to space restrictions, not cost or preference.
