So this came up for sale yesterday.

Seems really clean and I think it actually looks quite good as it is. Opinions?
Main downside is that it's 200 miles away and I was supposed to be waiting til October for insurance to drop to a reasonable amount on these cars.
is that wing stock...?

Nope.
The owner ruined the look IMO.
Beyond ruined. That thing's pretty ugly.
Then again the first gen ones were cooler anyways, especially stock.
It didn't look too bad from the front quarter but then I saw the rear quarter and "what the fuck did he do?"
That's what I was thinking, but he's insisting on using the price KBB gave for a dealership (The 6.5k), so I figure I'll just keep looking. I'd love to have that 330i, but unless there's some really good reason I don't care to pay an extra one or two grand for it.
Explain to him that he's not a dealer, he's a private party, and the price should reflect as such. Print out the KBB and show it to him, if he still disagrees inform him that NO one is going to buy it for such an inflated price, and to contact you if he decides to be reasonable. I'd recommend an e36 over an e46 anywho... it'll be even cheaper to buy, and maintain. I think the whole bodystyle is superior too.
Turns out it's also missing the thing that seals the exhaust manifold with the engine block. It has a small exhaust leak and the guy is claiming it never had one (Import H22A put in by a friend' uncle when he owned the car).
Fuck, not worth all the work it's turning out to be. I can't spend every single dime I have on a car that potentially needs the manifold machined if it's not flat enough.
I guess I'm shooting too high for my budget, except for the fact that there's a crap-load of nice cars in Vancouver, only problem being the bus-ride from Tsawassen to Vancouver is approx 3 hours, and taking a car-over costs nearly $150 round-trip.
I suppose I'll shop around Vancouver Craigslist to see if there's anything I really like, but all the cars I've fallen in love with so far keep turning out to have a variety of problems that weren't discovered until last minute.
On a positive note, my truck finally sold. I'm now driving the little AE92 Corolla I gave to my sister. Forgot how fun that thing was to drive, compared to my S10. Surprising how much a little 100HP inline 4 can haul. Almost makes me tempted to
buy this little Toyota SR5 Coupe I found. Person wants $2300 for it, but I'd say more around $1500.
I do agree that I'd probaly get bored of FWD though... I really want something nice and RWD. A 240SX would be perfect but finding one for sale here is impossibru. There's one with 250xxx on it and it's automatic? :/
It's missing the exhaust manifold gasket? When it comes to cars and people not being forward about the car's issues, I often recommend to skip on it. After all, there's a reason they're not being honest, and you don't want their auto problems to become yours. Plenty of fish in the sea.
Imo, I'd never buy an automatic 240, and you're looking at a new headgasket soon with that mileage.
I soaked it with PB before I worked on it the first time. Supposedly they pretty much corrode together because of different metals in the block and the bolt.
The issue comes from the severe temperature the studs and bolts face everytime you drive the car. The metal is constantly heating up, expanding, then cooling down and contracting. Over time they just get plain old stuck from the abuse. I've never removed an exhaust manifold or headers without breaking studs.

Not stock, but not too dissimilar to the rev 5 stock spoiler:

I reckon it's a pretty good base of a car with a lot of work already done. I can soon change a few bits although I'd definitely keep the wheels but other than that it's a clean example at a pretty reasonable price.
If I buy it now I will be paying an extra £350 a year for insurance, I was going to wait until October before buying one to save that money but it's not often one in such good condition comes up... Decisions. 200 miles is a bit of a treck to go to look if I'm not definitely buying.
Nice cars but I'd prefer the torque of a turbo.
There were supercharged models.
There were supercharged models.
Turbo will make more torque than a supercharger, especially an old 2 lobe roots.

One bastard problem on the 2005 Volkswagen Polos, seems like there isn't any AUX input on the standard head-unit. Need to find a solution, without replacing the whole unit.

Supercharged 4AGZE > 3SGTE
who cares it should be swapped anyways
Brought the jeep to a jeep shop and was told it wasn't my cat but a combo is needing a new fuel filter, spark plugs, rotor, cap and something else. I'm sure those are just abbreviations but that's what they told me. They said they'd do it all for 195.
How easy is changing a fuel filter?
Anyone know what a certain filter does? I don't know what kind of filter it is, but I need a new one and it costs around 25 bucks. Anyone know what kind it possibly is, judging by the price?

Get one of those FM Things that you shove behind the dash. Don't know what they're called.
Supercharged 4AGZE > 3SGTE
Supercharged MR2 are non-existant in the UK, plus I prefer the MK2 anyways, a better interior for the long journeys.
Now that I think about it, it's probably a fuel filter. How bad of an effect does a bad fuel filter have on the engine?
