I would've SR20'd already by now if it were legal here in CA. Heck, I'd be happy with a CA18 I don't really feel like changing the title every time I get pulled over. Also, I didn't know there was race fuel station not far from me. I might try their 100 octane one of these days I get extra dough
Sorry for being late, but why is a sr20 swap illegal in CA?
because it's CA
when's the last time california had laws that made sense
Emissions and all of that bull horse shit [editline]9th July 2012[/editline] That's why i'm proud to be an Okie
barrel shrouds are illegal on guns in california (they protect your hand from hot barrels so you don't burn yourself) california lawmakers operate on the priniple of "I don't understand it therefore it's dangerous"
That's quite funny
not for californians. :v:
Sorry for being late, but why is a sr20 swap illegal in CA?
Technically an SR20 swap would be possible, since you can get a referee to okay a US engine if it specs out okay (and we got an SR20DE in america, non-turbo, slowbox, but it was FWD and the head layout makes it impossible to use in a 240sx). It is easier to put an LS1/LS2/etc. in a 240SX in California than an SR20. In fact, the LS platform is one of the easiest swaps in CA. Imagine that. [editline]9th July 2012[/editline] Speaking of CARB, I had a header that was CARB certified, had a stamp and all. I laughed. [editline]9th July 2012[/editline] Also for anyone in Cali, this is a good read: http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/replace.htm
Engine Changes Engine changes are legal as long as the following requirements are met to ensure that the change does not increase pollution from the vehicle: The engine must be the same year or newer than the vehicle. The engine must be from the same type of vehicle (passenger car, light-duty truck, heavy-duty truck, etc.) based on gross vehicle weight. If the vehicle is a California certified vehicle then the engine must also be a California certified engine. All emissions control equipment must remain on the installed engine. Vehicles converted to 100% electric drive, with all power supplied by on-board batteries are considered in compliance with the engine change requirements. All fuel system components must be removed prior to inspection. For additional information contact the ARB helpline at (800) 242-4450 After an engine change, vehicles must first be inspected by a state referee station. The vehicle will be inspected to ensure that all the equipment required is in place, and vehicle will be emissions tested subject to the specifications of the installed engine.
I'm being asked to invest $700 into a black 1990 Nissan Pulsar with the wagon back instead of replacing the head gasket on my '92 Tracker. It's got a new clutch, radiator, and tires and the lube and coolant was just changed. It looks like this, but black. Y/N? For $900 after insurance it's tempting to me at least but it means I can't go off the road anymore.
It looks extremely strange
Those are so cool. But it's quite a change going from mini-SUV to regular old car. That's entirely up to the end user. Personally? I'd drive it. Head gasket jobs aren't too bad but they never have an absolute 100% chance of working. *shrug* There can always be complications, such as a crack in the cylinder head, or just a warped one. And that's costly to do over.
98 octane is fairly common in Australia well in my state anyway.
it's quite a change going from mini-SUV to regular old car.
Oh yes, from Cherokee to Golf was a huge change in absolutely everything [editline]10th July 2012[/editline] Oh, I was in Sweden today to shop for some shit and when I got out to the parking lot there were four old people standing behind my car and admiring it :v: They asked me some basic questions about it and were really happy seeing one in such good shape
went to dinner with my mom. Convinced her that i drive 45 minutes north to buy 110 octane fuel for my truck because I built up the motor and tuned it in the shop, after about 5 minutes of random bullshit make uppery i told her i was joking. and that the joke was because 110 is like $8 a gallon
