So I bought a '93 Prelude for $1700. I've picked up stick-shift pretty easily, I can reverse, start on hills (I park on one), etc etc. I've parked in parking lots and had no problems. I'm getting used to having a high back-window that's really angled. Gotta use my side-view mirrors like a mofo.
Runs beautifully, has 280xxx kilometres on it though. Been well maintained though, runs beautifully, sounds nice, the clutch is soooo easy. Beautiful to drive. Only problem is that there's some orange stickers on the car, and two of them are on the wheel-wells covering some rust (That's a common area for rust). Not a lot but definitely there, unless the cars just mangled in that area (That'd be delightful but it's probaly rust). Trunks also a bit faded and the hood had a bit of clearcoat peeling.
I figure I'll stop by a junkyard to see if there's any other red preludes I can pry a hood and maybe trunk off of. That'd be perfect. Otherwise, I'm gonna have to paint them sometime. Rims need a good washing too, probaly pick-up some rim shiner.
I wish I was a bit more car knowledgeable. Trying to learn but I really don't have a clue. Checked
all the fluids and everything but I'm wondering what I should do to the car next. Probaly going to
change the air filter, friend recommends changing the air-box to a cone but they aren't super cheap
(Around $100). Oh well, might be worth it?
Regardless, I paid off all my debt, have a car that runs beautifully and sounds great, and I love
driving stick. Life is good.
I've also used over half a tank of gas in only 30 hours. I drove for around 6 hours straight the first night I got the car, it was my first time driving stick on actual roads too.
Concur, how much did it cost and how much is wrong with it?
Just finished the design (rough dummy) for our 2012 racing livery

Driving across the tappenzee bridge last night a block of steel or something from underneath someones car fucking smashed on the road and then bounced up and smashed into my windshield. Fiancee had heart attack, I pull over after the toll trooper comes up
"Just call your insurance company, get off the side of the road"
They didn't bother looking for what hit my car but told me someones jeep cherkoee fucking had there entire windshield wiped out after it hit mine. Good thing i have full glass coverage.
gonna be helping a buddy of mine pick up a VR6 this week.. he's gonna stuff it into his mk2 gti, should be pretty rad when it's done.
he was gonna try to haul it in his mk3 golf but he figured he'd just ask me to get it with my truck..
i don't know how well putting a vr6 in the back of his golf would go, he already has to do retarded shit like crawl over speed bumps (the whole 45 degree angle, crawl over and hope he doesn't scrape bit gets old quick) so yea, it should be interesting.
plus i'm coming up on 3k miles since i bought my truck so i'm gonna crawl under it and change the oil within the next couple weeks probably.
and when spring rolls around, i'm gonna take the ladder rack off and try to do something about the spots that are starting to rust again cause every time it rains, rusty water drips down my truck and makes me cry
So a rock chipped my windshield recently, didn't notice until a friend pointed it out to me. FFFFUUU,
Never had my windshield chipped before. :(
Concur, how much did it cost and how much is wrong with it?
$2500 usd
Got a leak in the exhaust, some surface rust, and just the general 20 year old car interior wear.
Runs and drives like a charm though.
WELL FUCK
Looks like a main bearing failed.
So now I've got a busted ass D16Z6 block with a P&P D16Y7 head sitting in my car, and a wiring harness full of issues.
Sigh. I wish things would just WORK for once.
That sucks man. How ere the tolerances on everything when you put it together?
Did you use a micrometer or use plastigauge?
If it was a Main, it was caused by either it being built poorly or starved for oil. I'm assuming it had something to do with your break in procedure.
Question now is HOW THE HELL TO YOU GET PINNED UNDER A VEHICLE!
Think that a jack is a real jackstand
i like it!

Block was a stock Z6 block from a salvage motor that I pulled apart a long time ago. Like I said when I started putting the thing together, it was just a motor to get the EF on the road again, not anything special.
I heard it run in the car it was in, we used the head on Jap's car and it worked fine, block sounded great under my Y7 head for about ~30 seconds. Oil pump may have taken a shit on it, I haven't even dug into it yet because I've been busy.
[editline]19th February 2012[/editline]
I honestly haven't let it run more than 15 seconds at a time, I've been super busy re-arranging my living area in the shop so I've not even looked at the car today.
So my truck has been making a weird rattling noise at idle, I kinda thought it was something loose in the exhaust, but lately I've started thinking it might be the transmission. It's started rattling/grinding under throttle too. Checked the dip stick when I got home, and it's well below the add a pint line. Ffffffffffffff
Anyways, added 2 pints of ATF and now it's a little over the full line. :\
Shifts sooo much better now though.
NO MORE SES LIGHT! Changed my Coolant Temperature sensor, didn't even have to drain any coolant, or undo any hoses. Just unscrewed the CTS, and put the new one in. The coolant didn't even overflow. It's so quiet when it idles now though, I can't even hear it at stop lights.
Completely repainted my instrument cluster, fixed temp and fuel gauge issue, and mounted a new steering wheel and hub...
Demn, looking at my rear passenger side wheel well, I remembered one thing : Reverse parking in my driveway, hitting on the snow pile, hearing a noise.
Well shit, happens I lifted my rear bumper slightly, it's off by a bit, and my inner fender is not even attached to the bottom of the bumper part.
Shit sucks, adds more stuff to fix on the body next summer. Things planned up to now : Little metal work, paint refresh, same color, just new, and fixing the body parts that are weirdly held, like that inner fender.
Hey, what are your opinions on muffler caps... I've already got a Magnaflow system, from headers to tip, and it does have a bit beefier sound than factory, but it just isn't that beefy rawrr sound I'm looking for..
I saw some caps at pep boys, and was wondering what kind of sound they'd produce.

I got a new avatar, so now no one will recognize me at a glance. I just got tired of having 007 playing pokemon. I might change it to another picture of my car, i'm not sure yet. But remember, the dude with the red honda as his avatar is me.
[editline]Eddit[/editline]
But it still looks like my old one for some reason. I'll give it a bit.
Tommorow going to Safelite, insurance is giving me a new windshield then straight to work after.
Then the next day to Mavis to get my brake pads replaced on all 4 wheels, only hour labor :D

It didn't work. Can you see it at least?
You gotta wait, avatars don't update instantly
Nope
Quick question, I do want to replace my Inline 4 on my Accord to the models V6 version. Theres a fuckton of the blocks laying around but I'm assuming I also have to buy a new tranny considering the new abuse it's going to put on.
The main thing Is I plan on going to my mechanic who does all our cars for yeaaaaaaaaaaaaars now (Amazing set of guys etc). Anyway The best way to go about it is to find a block and talk to them about getting it delievered to them and them installing it correct?
(Aka i hate inline 4's or anything four cylinders), Our Pontiac Grand Prix and it's V6 sound AMAZING with typical american roar
I think your best bet would be to find a V6 Accord of the same vintage that's been T-boned or rear-ended and take everything from the steering column to the wheels. Suspension, cradle, radiator, fans, wiring harness, computers, tranny, axles, all of it. It should come out in more or less one big chunk, front suspension cradle holding it all together. Once you get it home, liberate from the cradle what you need and have that installed. Sell what's left on craigslist or eBay to help pay for the install.
YOU WILL need the computers and wiring harness, otherwise it wont run right.
Honestly though, it's an Accord. Best course of action, as posted below, is to trade it on the V6 model. They're not exactly collector's cars, they're not sports cars, they're not trusty off-roaders, IMO they're just not worth the effort of swapping engines in unless you blew the old one up and are bolting in a direct replacement.

How old is your Accord? It seems like it would be a lot easier and cheaper to just sell it and buy a V6.
Well I was figuring if it reached 2-3k i'd just go to one of my local police stations and find out the next auction for a crown vic and enjoy V8 muscle. Might even be able to snatch a deal due to me and my familys outstanding PBA membership history
That'd work too, and honestly it likely will since someone else is doing the work for you.
Lol playing cod and our clan tags are our engine displacement
