holy shit the engineering that went into the curiosity rover thingy omg that was awesome
[thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/8bcc898f.jpg[/thumb] Going to clean it up and sell it, no engine stand for small blocks so it's only going to be a top end rebuild
holy shit the engineering that went into the curiosity rover thingy omg that was awesome
yet if you talk about it with the youth of today (aka 25yo and under), they'll tell you it's nerd and non interesting while actually, space is our only hope for a near-distant future (mining wise)
Back from camping, shit was p lame other than hanging with my friend drinking, >camping >premade sites and rv's everywhere Other than that i had a nice weekend blah blah, anyway, my dad is picking up either a 2012 or a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD 4x4 6.0 Vortec either today or sometime this week.
Goddamned, top swap worked fine for 100km! Then boom block is toast. Guess it didn't want to handle the power and told me to fuck off. Will have to leave the car scene for a bit I guess.
What u mean by top swap. The supercharger? Did u not have egt or wideband? Fuel mods?
Would changing an engine change a car from FWD to RWD if the engine was RWD? [editline]6th August 2012[/editline] Sorry if shitty question
Would changing an engine change a car from FWD to RWD if the engine was RWD? [editline]6th August 2012[/editline] Sorry if shitty question
the question doesn't even make sense do you want to know if you can change a FWD car to RWD? the answer is probably not unless you have hella tools and hella time
I think he asked Can you switch engines in a car, so that in a FWD car, you put a RWD engine, and make that (originally FWD) car run RWD?
Would changing an engine change a car from FWD to RWD if the engine was RWD? [editline]6th August 2012[/editline] Sorry if shitty question
You are joking right?
I think he asked Can you switch engines in a car, so that in a FWD car, you put a RWD engine, and make that (originally FWD) car run RWD?
This, because fuck conversion kits.
I think my answer would be the same, since now you gotta put a driveshaft to the back wheels. It's definitely possible but I don't think it'd be a simple part swap.
You are joking right?
Is it bad if I say no. [editline]6th August 2012[/editline]
I think my answer would be the same, since now you gotta put a driveshaft to the back wheels. Jay Leno did it to his Torinado.
Jay Leno did it to his Torinado.
Toronado. But yeah. I remember that. What was his reasoning behind that again? I can't remember.
What was his reasoning behind that again?
because FWD sucks
because FWD sucks
sigh
sigh
well it does
well it does
People like you need to get out of the thread. Circlejerking over your "lol RWD manual cars are the best hurrr durrrr" FWD has its advantages, it has its disadvantages. If RWD was ultimately better in every regard every car would be made with it
FWD is great for parallel parking during winter. Reverse in, parking brake on, turn wheel all the way to the right and spin until you're in place
It's just not easy to explain Sure, RWD is better for enthusiasts and people who see vehicles as more than transportation. On the flipside FWD is so mindlessly easy to drive and (assuming RWD doesn't have traction control) usually performs better in poor weather. There's also less of a hump in the middle of the car since you don't have to fit in a driveshaft. Yes, RWD is better for "performance", but FWD has its benefits too and to say it plainly sucks is asinine. I expected more levelheadedness from an automotive subforum. Saying FWD sucks is like saying "this ball peen hammer sucks for breaking up concrete!!!" You need more than a ball peen hammer, you need a sledgehammer.
it depends on the thickness of the concrete
it depends on the thickness of the concrete
Sidewalk thick. Admittedly even a jackhammer is better in that situation, but you'd get further with a sledge than you would with a ball peen hammer.
ITT: Who needs a car when a hammer can break concrete just as well I like FWD. Less drivetrain loss, more MPGs yo! And a fast accelerating FWD car can be tons of fun, like driving a big gokart. And isn't that what most people want? RWD is fun too. I love the Celica I have right now, it's my DD. It's nice to whip it around corners and peel out and shit, I guess. But it's no more fun that my turbo CRX was. Or Jap's GSR swapped CRX. And FWD is much easier to drive in poor road conditions. Regardless, both have their perks. I wouldn't knock either of them. Cars in general are FUN.
Toronado. But yeah. I remember that. What was his reasoning behind that again? I can't remember.
Pretty much just because he can.
unless you're part of the rear engine rwd master race, then you have no drive shaft but you also have no real "performance" speaking of which, i just found out the engine in my '67 beetle is from a '73-'74.. kinda cool, it was good i figured that out before ordering engine parts, i messed with setting my points earlier and no matter if i gapped them .010 or .018, the dwell never got anywhere near the 47* i need it to be.. i'm not sure if the points are just junk or if the dwell meter i have (it's from 1975) is any good, it seems to be right but who knows so yea, hopefully this wednesday i'll have another 200+ worth of parts waiting at my door and my buddy who works in the local Sears auto dept scored me some tires for the front wheels so i can get rid of my totally dry rotted one way wheels (that are currently on the car rotating the wrong way)
And a fast accelerating FWD car can be tons of fun, like driving a big gokart.
since when can you powerslide a fwd car

That is all.
Almost ever Porsche after the Beetle can be considered to have "performance". That is all.
The Beetle got performance! [sp]It's just not very good performance[/sp]
since when can you powerslide a fwd car
I had a white line rsb on my es300. Off throttle hard turns the rear would step out.
lift off oversteer god damn
