Got my engine rebuild gasket set. Need ARP studs and timing chain update now. Also, today at my work, there were spies and pirates from a neighboring auto store. They were scoping out our store and trying to steal our employees away. They wouldn't stop talking about how domestic Chevrolet's are the best. Made fun of my like of import cars, (Audi/Nissan). Then I asked him; "so you drive a Silverado, is it an automagic?" He gets all puffed up and red in the face, "yeah but it's tiptronic so its blablablaba". I'm happy with my S13 and these guys can't get over how they have LS engines and shit. Why you fatpig Americans always have to push your car brands
Because people are asses. I have preferences, but I try to respect all sorts of cars no matter where they come from.

Hey guys, I need to buy a first car soon, I've got up to $7,000 to spend and I don't know much about cars. I like sedan(?) sort of cars, I guess. [sp]Clearly I'm a noob[/sp] Any suggestions? I live in Victoria, Australia.
For the millionth time here in AA: Sarcastic humor does not translate well into forum posts. Right, so I'll be going out to see this Mercedes Benz on Saturday. Here's some small pictures of it.

Here's a Google translated description of it and quite amazingly, Google did well this time.
W108, Originally run in Switzerland. Is completely renovated in 2005, the entire car has been sandblasted and metallized, is really nice, no rust. New rubber moldings, new carpets, renovated rearend suspension, new bushings in the chassis. Big service with new filters, oil and spark plugs and adjusted the valves June 2012. The car's undercarriage is treated. Here is a classic that can run for years without having to be made anything to. Next service - 2018
So it all seems nice and dandy. Main points are it being literally rebuild underneath. Some things that I've been thinking of though, is that wouldn't such an old cruiser like this one be better with an automatic transmission? This one's a manual, which I'm perfectly fine with. However, I think it would just suit the car better with an auto transmission. To any Benz people out there, anything I need to look out for when buying a classic Benz? I know about the costs of having one and I've been studying Benz for the past 1½ years or so, so I know about the financial 'risks'. :v: [editline]edit[/editline] You also just won't find a classic Benz like this in such a supreme state for the price (costs ~16,000 USD). So it's either a go and I'll buy it or I'll wait a couple months before the next one comes on for sale. This one's absolutely perfect though and in the colour I would love. Not going to find a better one, so it's just if I should or not, with a manual.
holy shit JDM auctions are great AE86's are selling for like <1,5 S14A's are going for like 2 godDAMN
shit where's this at? I need to pick up some more ae86s so I can be a boss and sell them in some years when they cost loadsadosh.
Fucking sigh. You guys didn't have to be so rude about this. The sarcasm thing was brought up not even but a few pages ago and nobody got bashed there. But whatever, y'know. It's cool. Have fun kiddos.

Too much whinning here
Everyone shut the fuck up and look at this picture of my car:

Remember how I said my friend bought a Tiburon Yeah, it's in the shop already. Said the check engine light came on and then the engine stopped. :v:
I think Tiburons (Or Coupés as they're called here) actually look like nice cars. Shame they're shit though
-snip-
A brilliant way to start a day. [editline]9th August 2012[/editline] And I suck with stickshifts.
Louvers don't look good on Beetles :(
maybe not stock look bugs 'cause they're all there but mine.. well.. has the rear apron and front apron cut off, no deck lid and is going to be military green so i feel like mullet mobile rear louvers would look good (color matched to the rest of the car or maybe flat black, i'm thinking all the exterior accents are either going chrome or flat black). i can't find (exterior mullet mobile version) rear louvers anywhere anyways but i think it would look pretty bad ass coupled with the expanded steel (that i picked up earlier today) engine cover and everything in olive drab/military green.
got a new coworker doing sales at work and: :geno:

After me bitching to fleet today, I am getting my brakes changed first thing in the morning. I told them 3 weeks ago they needed changed and didnt listen so I dont want to hear anything about how there is nothing left of the pads
I know you're a popo but where do you work?
So me and two bro's decided we want to do some fully sick sn95 onto a ranger/dakota frame swappage. Something like this minus the insane monstertruck setup. Also going to have a cage for a roof that goes just to the front of the bed, a sliced up ranger tailgate, stripped rhinolined interior, and whatever engine we can find, either a dodge 360, a Ford 351, or maybe we'll keep this 3.8 pos [editline]9th August 2012[/editline] Also would probably become a trail rig, so no seatbelts or any of that shit, just tow it there with one of the Xj's/ 1/2tons
So I was invited to the underground world of tuner meets right in my own town. Now I know why there are a lot of tuners out as well as cops during Thursday nights. Found out five of my friends go there when I never thought they did.
rule #1: dont talk about tuner meets
we get those too cept on wednesday
We get them on a Sunday, I've been twice so far
getting raided gets old after a dozen or so times, smaller groups are much better
getting raided gets old after a dozen or so times, smaller groups are much better
The ones here don't, its just the stupid heads that decide to drift/drag/donut like a bunch of tools. Innocents get arrested, etc.
I'm not sure who organises the one I go to, but there's plenty of police there and it is in a closed car park so people are free to do their donuts and wheelspins and whatnot. But the main road next to it often has policemen with their laser guns looking for anyone who bombs it down so blue flashing lights are an occasional sight.
We get them on a Sunday, I've been twice so far
Have ours on Wednesdays, mostly VW's though, a few audis, a Merc and a few Volvos.
We used to have some in my town every Friday and Saturday, in the Walmart parking lot.. lol There recently was a big "raid" i guess you'd call it. They don't meet there anymore.. lol
