It could have been. I did find that the dumbass redneck who owned it before me tightened one of the mounting bolts for the alternator and stripped the aluminium out of the bolt hole. I'm also going to get some new battery posts because the postive one is loose and wore out. Still connecting, but worn.

How I found out that everything was running again was by putting everything back together (except the serpentine belt, that was a bitch to put back on by myself) and put the key in the ignition and turned it, expecting nothing. But what I got was the buzzing from the car telling me the key was in the ignition, which it wasn't doing when nothing worked, obviously. So I took the key out, put the belt on (which again is hard as fuck to do. I didn't have a wrench long enough to turn the tensioner enough so I had to muscle it) and started it right up. I was so fucking proud of myself.
My Blazer just killed a battery two days ago. I replaced the battery now and am going to wait and see if it dies within the next few days...
i go for my license in 2 1/2 weeks
so excited
That's... new? It looks the same though :(
What did they do, add a strip of LED running lights?
They added all-wheel drive.
My car lives once again!
New motor started without any issue, AFR is at 14.7:1, Vac is at 19.9 constant, Temp doesn't go above 82C, oil pressure is good, the tune works wonder. No leak.
Only the usual injectors ticking and valve noise, but nothing to worry about. My mech told me the engine ran really good, no issues so far so good.
I redid my shitty oil return, Installed a barbed fitting and a smaller newer hose with better clamps.
So far there are absolutely no oil leaks, perfect!
Checked the sensors? Coolant temp/O2/cat/mani? Tune up? Plugs/filters? Vacuum leaks? Electrical? Engine wire and harness connections? Grounding? New catalytic converter?
Everything you mention and more (event he computer) has been either repaired or replaced in the last eight months with the exception of the cat but even with a new one I should not be clearing a carbon plugged EGR every two years.
This is actually kind of impressive.
118hp 190k mile KA24E (SOHC), slap on a little turbo and give it a tune on 91, and you get a practically 100% power increase. Incredible bump up for what was probably less than a grand in parts.
;) but no good CXRacing. Exploding turbos from China shit, no ty. Holset/Garrett and Koyo cooling. ARP studs, Felpro gasket. The big problem I found was the crankshaft for the KA series. It's awfully unbalanced and will shit itself at high speeds. Only downside really
Also, working at parts store today. Last minute customer was this gorgeous track star girl driving a coiled S2000. She pretty much schooled her boyfriend or friend or something on oils and facts. Knew everything about oil weights, which to use, even diesel additives. Impressed. She was gonna go track it at Willow Springs the next day. Her boyfriend picked Castrol Syntec, pffft. She wanted Mobil1 0W-40
...dont question the mytracks magic
I have no idea lol.
Nice polo bro.
I wish you could get my scirocco, it pains me to junk it. I love that volkswagen.
I'm sorry that i wasn't able to pick it up.. problem was, that i just found a large amount of rust in the left rear wheel arch, and that needs to be dealt with.. and my mate from school had this Golf mk2 for sale, it's just a 1.3, 4 gear, but it only needs to get me through winter, and i didn't want to use a scirocco, since it's just better than that.
Maybe next year if the golf still is worth it, i will make it into a REALLY low rider and have some fun with it
That's a golf, isn't it? I thought the polo had a larger quarter window than that.

Yeah my bad.
quick 2 questions regarding salt
1 - my sister recently moved to south carolina, about 10 miles from the ocean (and visits the ocean like once every 2 weeks or so) - should she be taking her car through a car wash? it's a 2010 civic with 30k miles, new when she got it
2 - where i live we get a lot of snow, and that means a ton of salt to melt the ice. in the winter/when we have ice, should i take a hose to my car every other week or so? (and since my car will be a 74 super beetle i'm paranoid about rusting)
Treat the under of the car with anti rust oil, it's about 70$ or so, and last about 1-2 years. Clean the body with water-less cleaner. It's what I do, works fine, and you don't get frozen locks and ice everywhere.
And I live up north, really up north. Tons of snow, tons of salt, every older cars looks way older here due to harsh winters.
We checked my friends cars bottom for the first time last tuesday, no rust at all, and like 2-3cm of anti rust mass stuff (I have no idea what it's called in english). It's from 96 and has done ~320k km
Though it probably got anti-rust treatment somewhere in the 2000's
[editline]1st September 2012[/editline]
and we get snow from november to april
Paycheck shopping today.
Maybe go on an hour road trip to buy some head studs

Incredibly happy to hear, man. I know you loved that thing, good to see it's going again! Hopefully it'll stay together for you and provide you tons of fun. Did you run the stock pulley or your aftermarket one?

I use those "exploding china turbos" all day long and have no problems. If you get one that leaks a bit, buy a seal/bearing kit for a Garrett turbo and install it. A lot of the problems are just the cheap bearings they install at the factory, and people running them at 20+ PSI (I'd never take one over 16).
Anywho, the KA24 crankshaft is actually an incredible piece of hardware, factory forged steel and yes, very heavy. You don't take a long-stroking motor over 6000~ RPMs anyways. The b/s ratio is all wrong for a high revving engine. There's nothing wrong with making all your power down there.
That crank can take a lot of pounding though. Just don't rev the piss out of it.

What else should I buy while I'm out at the car candy store again?
I'm not sure, I forget what all you're needing. :P
Some neat interior bits are always nice. To be honest I'm not sure what all they have. Do they have a website?

I've thought about something like that before, but i'd do it to a gator.

1) Steering wheel
2) less likely to flip
3) more room for engine stuff (if you put the engine in the rear)
Jesus christ, that's a lot of quad.

Gonna remove the head to do HG stuff, I guess there's really not much to get lol. Camshaft?

Yeah, it would be more stable. More room for rear suspension too. He had to use a fixed rear axle on that thing because there just wasn't room for any framework to mount the springs 'n shit to.

Have you got ARP studs or factory bolts? I'd go with ARPs, I run them on all my boosted motors (and I had them on one N/A motor but that's kind of overkill for N/A... nothing wrong with that).
Also the 255 kit they have is pretty cheap, if you're looking to upgrade fuel system that's a good pump kit. They have a nice Nismo cam for the KA24E but it's pretty steep, a regrind would be cheaper... But it also wouldn't be a nismo cam. That and a nice dress-up fuel rail would be pretty cool.
Can't really think of what else. There's a ton you COULD get, but it's a lot of money.

uh oh, page king
I've decided that i'll probably be buying a lot of things used
and i'll probably be going with the black limited theme

when i'll be buying the damn car in the first place, I have no idea.
That's a clean hachi. I don't see many black, I don't know why, it's a good color for them.
Babys first accident. :(

Some contractors for the apartment complex were parked in front of and behind me in the field I have to park in, a big ol Econoline 350 angled in front of me, and an early/mid 90's accord parked probably 6-8 feet behind me. He was a little closer than I thought, and by the time I had fixed my mirror I was right up on him. Bumped the plastic trim on his bumper with my tow hitch. >.<
