I met a young woman in my English course. She drives a pristine Nissan 300zx. We became friends and she offered me a position at her husband's work. It is a small auto company that does basic repairs and part orders and shipments. They are desperately in need of help. However she tells me I will be hired "under the table" so taxes will not be subtracted from my pay. Due to my greed I am interested. I could work full-time with no cuts to salary. Work the files and paper work and take some photos for their eBay website. The hourly pay is higher than my current job. However, my dad is sketched out and advised against taking the position. I have an interview lined up already and I'm contemplating whether it is a good idea or not. Autozone is a simple job involving working straight for two weeks and receiving $700. However, the pay is less and the workload is more. I also do not get to work full-time. I'm not sure what to choose. halp

Under the table the IRS finds out your done. Under the table is cool for little money not a full time job. Otherwise if you some how can hide thousands of dollars from the IRS then your cool. Under the table jobs offer no job security either. You get fired no unemployement and depending on your state you can't use unfair termination either. No offers for benefits either. Consider that also.
clicking noise on the ol' carro is getting louder gonna have to get it checked before it ends up being my CV joint and that just snaps or something though it's weird, I had parked the car just now and about 5 seconds after I get out of the car, it makes the popping noise when it's stationary (in park with parking brake on) IDK
Oh by the way guys, So turns out me moving to the floor was one of the best decisions of my life. Next two paychecks stay stable like this one and I'll be driving a 2013 challenger R/T within 2-3 months.
couldn't you ask her to not hire you "under the table"? i'm not really sure if that makes a difference to her/her husband's company
That's what I was thinking. CubeMan drew some valid points
couldn't you ask her to not hire you "under the table"? i'm not really sure if that makes a difference to her/her husband's company
It's much easier to have under the table employees, you can dump them whatever and not have to report them on your employee summary or have to offer workers comp or etc if they get injured on the job. It's basically less paper work and much less money management. What you could do is claim the money as another source of income (online or etc) then just pay taxes on it at the end of the year. Just have to remember to save money out of each check to cover taxes. (Even then, you could get in trouble with this method, basically keep a book job)
according to the ft-86 club. there is a ongoing issue with the ECU, cam gears, oil pressure control valve (for the vvti) and a bad filter in one of the oil line. causing a rough idle, stalling, bog, loss of power and throttle response and the CEL+TRAC to come on. Code will be p0017,0019. Scion, toy, sub will try to fix their customers car by replacing the cam gears assy and crank sensor (because that's what the codes are going on about) but it won't fix the issue AND the parts are back orders. Issue seem to appeir only in US and CAN. No ETA until a proper fix by the japanese engineers.

why would you get a ft86 tho
*shrug* They're still a badass engine. You have to know what you're building to make power. Like I said, most of these problems the 3RZ has are identical to problems the D series had in the past, and everyone building Ds has overcome them. I remember when everyone would bolt on turbos and run 4-5 PSI because they were afraid anything more would blow their engine to bits (and it likely would have). Now we have cheap I beams, H beams, ARP conrod bolts, head studs, good MLS gaskets, vitara pistons, forged shit, sleeves, different crankshafts, even aftermarket blocks from some manufacturers. I believe in the 3RZ. It's still in the trial and error stages. There's still not loads of aftermarket support. But maybe someday there will be. [editline]7th September 2012[/editline] Also, you can tell that was a rod bolt failure leading to rod failure. How many miles were on the engine? Those were obviously stock rod bolts, which are a no-no in a decently boosted engine. [t]http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii145/Cruznlife1/CIMG0874.jpg[/t][t]http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii145/Cruznlife1/CIMG0871.jpg[/t] [t]http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii145/Cruznlife1/CIMG0864.jpg[/t][t]http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii145/Cruznlife1/CIMG0877.jpg[/t]
no idea about mileage. i think 180k but he was in the 350whp range when it blew. people can get 250-300hp all day long and never break them. it was all stock engine most peope just add a piggy back and make twice the hp..... hell i made more hp at the wheels than stock did at the crank n/a. they are 2-3 companies that make good parts for these engines paradise racing is up to 1300hp on a 2rz in a celica (drag racing) that guys name is luis he is great with these motors. second is lc engineering, a little high but great stuff. i have ordered several stuff from both. but is an awesome motor.
Hey guys has anyone heard anything yet about there being any turbo options or specific kits for the BRZ or the FRS yet? I'm a bit curious because I'm thinking about getting one within the next year or so, but if I spend the money I want to boost it up a little from the stock 210hp.

Hah. I think I found out what that noise is. I think the upper ball joint (or control arm, hard to tell without jacking it up) is catching on my wheel well. I was able to get my sister to push down on the front of my car so I can look, and it made a clicking noise when that happened, and the little edge is free of dust (probably from friction). I can't tell if that's the exact noise i've heard, as I only remember how it sounds when I'm driving, but this is certainly a problem. [editline]8th September 2012[/editline] Certainly appears to be the upper control arm: I'm not crazy when I say that's oddly free of dirt and dust, am I?
no 3rz longer stroke tends to break rods at 12-15 psi. the 2rz tends to pop head gaskets at 16 and with upgraded headgasket and arp studs about 25 is the limit your at 400hp then, u need to upgrade the internals. 3rz has a forged crank and 2rz has a cast iron one, seem to be no difference in strength one idea of the 3rzs problem is that balancing shafts throw something askew, 2rz doesn't have the shafts. but on a 10psi 3rz with an air/air or air/water intercooler you are at 250-300 whp i have seen about 6 cases of the 3rz tossing rods around 15psi. usually lets go under deceleration. rods pokes through the block. but you are pushing that 150hp stock motor pretty far. i guess it is not bad. http://s263.photobucket.com/albums/ii145/Cruznlife1/ It made 281hp and 299 ft/lbs at 10 lbs of boost, which is more than it's ever made before A/F Around 12.5-12.0 also You can see the rods from the outside now.... Studs and gasket done, 3 bar map installed, and doing some dyno tuning.... Tuned it to around 16 lbs and everything was great, started feeding it methanol, turned it up to 18 psi, was tuning, HP was deep into the 300's and afr at engine failure was in the mid-high 11's with methanol, and 93 octane..... Around 4000 rpms during a pull, it puked. Windowed the block on each side about the size of my fist. The #4 rod broke, when it came around it cleanly sliced the oil pan in half.... I'm curious if the head is still useable and I just need to replace the shortblock. Guess I wont know, I'm ASSUMING the piston smacked the head. Welp, it's Official. My dad has filed for Divorce. 22 years. My mom had been planning on leaving him, because he's never really...been there I guess. I love my dad, but he's kind of selfish. :( My mom takes care of my brother most of the time, so she doesn't have a job. And drives a Piece of shit Chrysler Seabring, busted doors, the windows fall down, the A/C doesn't work, the front tie rod or something was broken for well over a year etc. etc. My dad paid $5,000 for his 96 Chevy, paid ~$1,500 for a new rear end and $1,000 in brand new BFG A/T tires right after he bought it, then 2-3 years later, dropped $2,500 to have the front end rebuilt. As far as I knew, there wasn't really anything wrong with it in the first place. All while my moms care was in desperate need of repair, of course. I think he's spent nearly $10,000 on guns in the past 6 or so years. SAIGA's, and shit like that. But the house is falling apart, my moms car is falling apart. A Bus my Grandpa bought my parents to help with transporting my brother around has sat since my parents moved in to this house. It had a short somewhere in the wheelchair lift, so it drained the battery. Instead of looking into fixing it, it's sat, unused, untouched. He told me to put up a craigslist ad, after showing him the ad, he ended up writing it himself. Guess he didn't want anyone who was looking to know anything was wrong with it. Then he decided he wanted to keep it, "Just in case".He goes to work, comes home, gets drunk and watches TV. My mom joined some Womens group a few weeks ago, she'd been smoking Spice, before that she smoked pot, she's quit Spice, and has been spending a lot of time with her group, camping and what not. He told me a couple of days ago he was looking at apartments, then my mom asked me the next day what Zoosk was..yesterday my parents had a private chat, and today I found out what that chat was about. There's other stuff, but I don't feel like going into it.

My mom's also a lot happier with her life and has more friends etc. It sucks, but its better for the both of them, and ultimately you(hopefully), just stick it out and it'll be fine. So everyone remembers the photo I posted at the top of the page right I showed the photo to my dad, he looks right at that spot where my steering knuckle meets the control arm, and says "that's the axle you're talking about" No wonder his truck is always breaking

Which I thought I told the body shop to fix if there was any frame damage. Though nothing bad should happen if I trim off some bits of my wheel well liner, should it? [editline]8th September 2012[/editline] Also, the fuck should I do about my old ass battery? The terminal is covered in corrosion so bad that getting the clip off is going to be a bitch. Any tricks to getting rid of that?
