and that springy thingy behind it all is my turbo But seriously though, I think the control arm rubbing is my problem, since the frame is probably ever so slightly pushed in at that point. Which I thought I told the body shop to fix if there was any frame damage. Though nothing bad should happen if I trim off some bits of my wheel well liner, should it? [editline]8th September 2012[/editline] Also, the fuck should I do about my old ass battery? The terminal is covered in corrosion so bad that getting the clip off is going to be a bitch. Any tricks to getting rid of that?
Scrape it off??? Not sure, use a wire brush or something to clean terminals.
Coca-Cola.
Coca-Cola.
I was thinking that myself, but I'm not sure if I'd like have to hose down my engine bay afterwards
You don't pour coke in your engine bay. Take your terminals off and soak them in a glass of coke, then brush the battery's terminals off with a stiff brush or wire brush, and use a dab of grease on each post, spread it on the whole thing. Then re-install your terminals when done. No more corrosion.
My friend has a flat black monte SS. Its a fucking dog car, doesnt go anywhere, its a supposed muscle car and runs a 17 second quarter mile stock. :v: Yours looks good though. [editline]9th September 2012[/editline] You better drop a 350 or cut the heater out and drop a 427 or 454 in it. e: Oh hey 600 posts
It's my buddy's SS, has a 350 right now with some minor work done to it. Future may see a stroker kit and some other goodies. (gonna be glossy black once its done)
I was thinking that myself, but I'm not sure if I'd like have to hose down my engine bay afterwards
No dude, you take distilled water and put it in a cup. Mix a table spoon of baking soda in it. Then slowly pour it over the terminals and connectors. Wipe it clean. Some PB blaster would work and tapping it loose when you get the bolt off. If it really is that corroded, you need a new battery/terminals RIP shark nose. I felt like I violated this car. Took it's shiny parts when I went back again today. Side marker turn signal, left/right plastic moldings, rare pink fusebox cover, various engine harness clips, assortment of hard-to-find bolts. Contemplating taking the nice bumper home
The battery definitely needs to be replaced because it's the one the car rolled off the line with. I'm surprised it still holds a charge but it has a really rough start if it sits for more than 24 hours (lights and shit are dim too so it's obviously the battery.) We'll see about the connectors but I like that baking soda idea. Also isn't there like a "tape a penny next to the teminal" trick for prevention?

Any tricks to getting rid of that?
Yeah, I've trimmed up my splash guards around the upper control arms and have had to hammer over that seam in my wheel well to keep my tires from being cut up by it. I would just suggest to cover up any of the spots which have had the paint rubbed/hammered away with some undercoating or paint so that they don't start to rust. When I hammered over the seams in my Integra my upper control arms would make a terrible loud metal slamming noise as they would pop to either side. I would really suggest avoiding the hammer as much as you can though and you should just be able to show up at the body shop and they should be able to slightly bend it for you since you had the work done, it should only take like 15 minutes.
Oh and is there anyone that I could add on steam to ramble about mopars to because Valon Kyre is not on alot and I have noone else to share my classic car thoughts with :(
I was fairly busy today, thursday I had a game and Friday idk. I'm pretty much just as busy as you. And you messaged me on steam and then buggered off. Y'need to fix some stuff in the thread, "Plymouth super bee" :| is one example.

And I know you are busy, thats why I need a fall back to loose my thoughts too, or I could just write them down, and tell them to you later :v:
Open practice/showoff day! So we brought the Supra, SR20 AE86 and S15 which decided to be faggot and break down after 20 seconds on the track.

I know I've been ranting about this shit for so long but could anyone try and tell me why it's so attractive? I'm always in for the original stock look, both more practical but imo it also looks better (and generally a bit neater because you know, the aren't a lot of them around so it's only good to keep them original!). anyhow could anyone who's into the kind of stuff tell me a bit about it just so I know why it's as attractive in the (FP) automotive community as it is? [editline]edit[/editline] looking a bit more into it and I'd still say I don't get why you'd fit the rims and lower it. Maybe I'm just a pedantic, grandfather-ish old person but I don't see any real good points about it. I mean in my opinion, it completely ruins the look of a really good looking BMW. but man, I need to stop ranting like this.
Is that rear wheel cambered? Oh, Christ. Why.

Why.
(Low sitting cars, IE, bubble lowered with bbs rims originated with old VAG, though in this situation an old bmw) Also every person has his own opinion about how the cars look, so no need to be butthurt about it, and start an argument. If you don't like it then you don't like it, nothing short of that.
But then we won't really get to know why it's so attractive to you and well anyone else who likes that look if you won't be able to tell. :v: I mean, I'd like to know because I generally think doing something like that to a classic car is generally a dumb move, and I'd like to open my horizons a bit.
No shit everyone has opinions. We don't need a lesson on that. My opinion is that lowering a car and negative cambering the wheels should stay the fuck away from classics.

The rims are old school BBS, the car is an rare old car, that in this condition is worth a lot. Yes its maybe a shame to destroy the looks of it by installing air ride, but it's not even that difficult to reinstall stock shocks, and dampers. I love when cars look lean, mean, and this bmw is all original, besides the air ride, which i just think makes it look that much more retro in the day today. I would 10x rather drive that, than any brand new bmw. It has class, it has style, it's art on wheel. This is my opinion.
I mean it's a gorgeous car, but it just looks silly with how it's lowered and cambered.
No shit everyone has opinions. We don't need a lesson on that. My opinion is that lowering a car and negative cambering the wheels should stay the fuck away from classics.
Yeah that's your opinion fine. No need to be an asshole about that.
Yeah that's your opinion fine. No need to be an asshole about that.
I... wasn't an asshole about my opinion? Though it's quickly turning that way when people start putting words in my mouth and imply that I'm too stupid to understand that someone else in the world likes what I don't like
Just compare this to American hot rods. It's our European hot rods. Some people hate them, some people love them
Just compare this to American hot rods. It's our European hot rods. Some people hate them, some people love them
No shit. I don't think anybody said that people couldn't like that BMW. I don't even know why we're having this conversation.

This will probably just escalate into something of bigger proportions though, considering most of this is based on opinions. Anyhow wouldn't this kind of stuff be better fitted on a, well a bit newer car? Not talking year 2012, but 1990's? I'd personally say it does look quite a bit silly due to how much it's lowered and the huge chrome rims that sort of scream "look at me!", but yeah. Probably just opinions, and they vary. Respecting your opinion though, all of this just seems to be opinion based. :v: [editline]edit[/editline] welp, could just say that there has been progress on the 1970 Mercedes 280 SE! Going to have all the money for it tomorrow, actually. Hopefully going to go pick it up between Wednesday - Friday. I really cannot wait, because there should also be some money for work I could start on, mainly getting the interior and chrome redone.
I like the rims personally. I don't like how lowered the car is and how *just* the rear is cambered
No shit. I don't think anybody said that people couldn't like that BMW. I don't even know why we're having this conversation.
It's just that this shit happens every single time something from Stanceworks is posted. It's not just this one
