Hmm, I see. This will probably just escalate into something of bigger proportions though, considering most of this is based on opinions. Anyhow wouldn't this kind of stuff be better fitted on a, well a bit newer car? Not talking year 2012, but 1990's? I'd personally say it does look quite a bit silly due to how much it's lowered and the huge chrome rims that sort of scream "look at me!", but yeah. Probably just opinions, and they vary. Respecting your opinion though, all of this just seems to be opinion based. :v: [editline]edit[/editline] welp, could just say that there has been progress on the 1970 Mercedes 280 SE! Going to have all the money for it tomorrow, actually. Hopefully going to go pick it up between Wednesday - Friday. I really cannot wait, because there should also be some money for work I could start on, mainly getting the interior and chrome redone.
Well, both yes and no, of course things would also look good on new cars, but the problem is with new cars today is, that most of them are just plain shit. You can't recreate the old school style on new cars (there are some exceptions though) The thing with the old spoke wheels, and the lowering is just a car scene that is very popular in europe, Ie in america it's hotrods as Ldesu said and here it's those old VAG cars, with hellaflush wheel setting and the ridiculously low chassis. Would love to see pictures of the Merc.

Man, it's such a neat car. Fully restored back in 2005 I believe, guy who currently owns it has taken a good care of it. Been in heated garages in winter, never been standing fully still for a month (need to just fire them old cars up sometimes so they don't get locked up, just sort of healthy for them) and because he has children, 3point sliding safety belts in both rear and front seats. The guy who currently owns it also did some stuff himself to keep it in shape, mainly just taking some good care of the engine. [editline]edit[/editline] Also something which I thought was pretty cool. So that Mercedes thing has always been going around in my family. My grandfather drives a 2007 C-Class sedan, father drives a 2012 C-Class, uncle drives a 2002 C-Class, and now this. My aunt died back in December, which meant we had to get rid of everything she had. Obviously we kept some of it, put some up for auction and threw some of it away (which was a pretty awkward feeling). Now I've always been told that my aunt drove what was a brand new Mercedes when she had it but we finally found pictures of it. [t]http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8300/7857854968_02fd4c6300_b.jpg[/t] [t]http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8429/7857854086_8836f29550_b.jpg[/t] [t]http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8441/7857853464_d3a3d08bcf_b.jpg[/t] She also had another Mercedes from brand new, was a 30-40's something model that would be worth loads-of-dosh today. I'll see if I can find the picture.
Im not starting shit but im sure that thing has some terrible cancer under the paint, other than that little spot he showed in the ad.

But before ordering I got to inspect Will be replacing the fluid in the diff and try to make it last
Fuck that fan is almost bigger than the ones that they put in Ford trucks :v:
Fuck that fan is almost bigger than the ones that they put in Ford trucks :v:
I checked quickly and it fit in my engine bay I will confirm this tomorrow with a cardboard boxe cut to the right dimmensions
Fuck. I've went to every auto-part store, and hardware store. No-one carrys 10-1.5 bolts long enough. I need two for my bellhousing, and four to go through my engine stand. I want this engine apart and done with. Theres a store around here that specializes in bolts, but they close by the time I get off work. I guess Ill send my dad there tomorrow. Sorry for this random post, Im just pissed. /rant
It's like how no store had a oil pan drain plug bolt in stock around here, ended up having to go at the stealership and pay 11.36$ for it, my s/c oil only costed me 8.50 or something v:v:v
I hate how auto stores doesn't carry any useful bolts/nuts and shits automotive addict might need.

(Huge fee if your not a business owner) (Gets wal-mart clothing on, Gets fake backer that says "Operator") Walk in got my shit she sayed "You want us to bill it too you?" I was like "No thank you Ill just use my PERSONAL debit card. She had this look on her face like "I see what you did there." I got my bolts for 75% off what it would have been if I was a civilian.
My grandmom's '95 Buick Skylark is apparently making knocking noises in the engine compartment when she turns it on. I hope it's nothing serious, because she (or myself) doesn't have the money to do any major repairs, and I don't want her having to use the bus or ride a bicycle across the 6 lane highway to Publix. :(

Damnit DP, you stole my idea :v: Yeah, we dont need Chevy discussion, they're too easy to figure out, so they dont need a help thread :v:
Damnit DP, you stole my idea :v:
I originaly had this idea about 4months ago, but never did it. Also you don't have the "correct" title to make a VAG Love thread :v:
You could have made it for all euro cars. Way to leave me out :(
So I have 4$ sitting on my paypal, I want to change my title but dont know what to. Any ideas?? (Something to do with mopars or chargers or just cars)
I keep thinking that mopars is a fucking misspell of Mopads

yes
why do so many civics and integras have b20 swaps?
Damn. Somehow my dad came home with a messed up garage door. Tried to fix it but it got worse, getting it stuck on bent railings. Tried to fix it because I was worried about my 240sx being exposed to the elements + potential jackasses. There's a thunderstorm coming. The thing looks like it is about to fall on the rear hatch. So I messed around with it, crouching and leaning on the bumper of my 240sx with my back and trying to push it up. Darn thing fell, folded and punched me straight at my jaw. I was scared at first because I heard a cracking sound and I thought I would be choking at the garage door pushing me against my 240sx. Guardian angel at my side, it stopped short of my jaw. Basically it just punched me really hard on my face and I hit the back of my head on the 240's rear tail light. The cracking was the tail light cracking in. Darn thing is so brittle. Nice, I have to shell out money for a rear housing now. The garage door was worse than when I started gg. I just put a chair under the slanted thing and called it quits lol. Too tired from work
Holy fuck i just got really upset for like 3 seconds, skimmed past your post and thought I saw you say your 240 got stolen. ;_;
Holy fuck i just got really upset for like 3 seconds, skimmed past your post and thought I saw you say your 240 got stolen. ;_;
Don't even say that dude I can't even sleep now with a garage door ajar
Damnit DP, you stole my idea :v: Yeah, we dont need Chevy discussion, they're too easy to figure out, so they dont need a help thread :v:
Except if the bolt is fucking standard or metric and what is the proper way to take something off without breaking it. Oh, also self tapping bolts/screws absolutely everywhere along with torx screws. I never want to touch another Camaro ever after helping to take the interior out of my buddy's 86' out many times for almost no reason and highlights like pulling the motor to fix a cracked oil pan.
why do so many civics and integras have b20 swaps?
It's a common, cheap and well rounded motor which has more torque and hp than a B18B for around the same price while it being a B18B with a larger bore which makes it good replacement/upgrade for a B18B or B18C if you for some reason decide to downgrade for cost since you blew up a GSR motor or something. It's common in Civics since the above and it's pretty much just getting it mounted in there, axles, shift linkage, exhaust, ecu and some wiring. B16's were also put into Civics and Del Sol's so any B series goes in pretty well, finding the right mounts and axles for it is about all you have to do and with tons of aftermarket you can pick up some ebay mounts for $100 easy. I've seen full B18B1 heads go for $100 and running B18B1 bare longblocks for like $350. You could look at like $1500 getting you a very nice freshened up motor inside your Civic which could have had a D series with like 30-50 less HP. There's a bit more aftermarket, plenty of cheap stock used parts to interchange to squeeze out some more HP. For instance you could slap a B16 or B18C vtec head on a B20 with some small upgrades to the motor you should really do and make like 170, build it more all around and you can break 200 easily from what I have heard. I would personally just go with a B18C on the route for much more power but the B20 has good potential.
The main reason B20 swaps are common is displacement -- They're .2 liters bigger than a GSR or LS swap, and .4 liters bigger than a B16 Si/SiR swap. That's a lot when you have an engine so small, and the dimensions are literally near identical to the B18 (LS) engine. They extra displacement is a lot of extra power, especially under forced induction, and throwing a GSR or B16 head on the block and converting it into a VTEC engine is another popular swap as the head flows better (Not because the VTEC is helpful -- it never is). It's not because of cost or anything. The B20 is one of the more expensive engines -- because of its potential. A B20 block with a GSR head will, in the long run, produce more power than a B18C in any form. There's just more displacement there, more room to expand on.
Don't even say that dude I can't even sleep now with a garage door ajar
Is it really that bad there? [editline]10th September 2012[/editline]
I keep thinking that mopars is a fucking misspell of Mopads
I sometimes read it as moped
Is it really that bad there?
240's are the new Teggies and Civs. Also, ARP sent Atomic Speedware the bolts and studs. Mr. Arias himself hand-picking them for packaging right now. Should be here tomorrow or wednesday. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE so excited
